Despite her knowledge, she realised that theory is incomparable to reality when she became a mother and navigated feeding her own baby. After breastfeeding for seven months, Kath transitioned to formula amidst exhaustion and ongoing challenges, only to find that clear, practical guidance was harder to come by than expected.</p><p><em>A note from Kath on choosing formula for your baby:</em></p><ul><li>In Australia, all infant formulas are safe and will provide the nutrition your baby needs for their growth and development.</li><li>All formulas however are not the same! The ‘rules’ for infant formula make sure we include certain amounts of specific nutrients, however there are ‘optional’ ingredients that are in some formulas but not others including things like prebiotics, for example.</li><li>There are also specialty formulas for babies who have a medical concern like an allergy. These should be used in consultation with a healthcare professional.</li><li>All formula companies must have contact details on their tin or website, so if you have questions, get in touch with them.
