Tenor Aaron Blake comes in the studio with Dave Eggar on Cello & Steve Sensenig of keyboards and performs some Christmas & classical opera to get you in the holiday spirit!

The recipient of a 2017 George London Foundation Award, tenor Aaron Blake has earned international recognition for his performances in repertoire ranging from Martinu to Rossini. In 2022, he was recognized by the recording academy with a Grammy Award for his role as the High Priest of Amon in The Metropolitan Opera’s Grammy Award Winning Album of Philip Glass’s Akhnaten. His creation of the role of Timothy Laughlin in the Cincinnati Opera world premiere of Gregory Spears and Greg Pierce’s Fellow Travelers brought both critical and international acclaim. The live recording of these performances was captured on the Cincinnati Symphony Fanfare Label and was released in 2017 where it was named one of the top 10 classical recordings of the year by New Yorker Magazine. In addition, Mr. Blake made a critically acclaimed debut with New York City Opera in Peter Eötvös’ operatic adaptation of Angels in America.

The 2023-24 Season boasts returns to the Metropolitan Opera from their new production of Carmen, the Season Opening Gala of the Israeli Opera, Recitals in Prague and Berlin, Don Giovanni at the Cincinnati Opera as well as a debut as Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly with the Haifa Symphony.

Dave Eggar was a musical prodigy as a child, beginning to play the cello and piano at age three and performing as a singer and actor on Broadway and at the Metropolitan Opera at age seven. He trained as a classical cellist at the Juilliard School, and later graduated from Harvard University and the Juilliard School's Doctoral Program.[1] He debuted in Carnegie Hall at 15 as the youngest winner in the history of the Artists International competition.[2] He has appeared throughout the world as a classical soloist, including concerto appearances at Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, London's Barbican Center, the Paris Opera, and the Hollywood Bowl. In fact, that is Dave's cello leading the way at the top of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida". He is the winner of the prestigious Sony Elevated Standards Awards for Excellence in classical music. Eggar has appeared as featured soloist with the Thailand Philharmonic, The Sydney Symphony, the Melbourne Symphony, The Aspen Festival Orchestra, The Juilliard Orchestra, The Harvard-Radcliffe Orchestra, the Queensland Symphony, Phiharmonia Virtuosi, the Westchester Symphony, Stamford Symphony, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic.

A stray cat runs away and leaves behind her name in the aether, waiting to sing and play.

A pause in the routine. The shorter days of 2020’s Autumn call for

music to be played in a living room. Gather together writers, singers,

piano players, string strummers, a drummer.

Singer, arranger

and songwriter, Erin Dalton (arr. for Amythyst Kiah, Bill & The

Belles) with husband Andrew Gibbens, drummer (of previous band projects

this mountain, Amythyst Kiah, Listener), join in melodic and harmonic

rhythm with fellow singer-songwriters Isaac Ratliff (Sorrel, Florencia

& The Feeling) on electric piano with some smooth BGVs, and Phil

Ling (Tree Hollow) on bass and reverberating guitar. But then, like a

Charlie Maples cat, Phil moved to New England. In steps

multi-instrumentalist Taylor Green (also formerly of this mountain,

Amythyst Kiah, and currently Mind Modes) to hold it down on bass.

Charlie Maples mines the classic jazz catalogues, calls out with the

Rhythm and the Blues, and flirts with the wavelength of Michael

McDonald. The band’s members represent combined decades of musical

exploration, performance, touring, composing, and recording in genres

ranging from jazz, classical, folk, and hip-hop, to R&B, old time,

rock, and ambient.

Like the namesake feline, Charlie Maples was born in East Tennessee.

Anthony Wayne is a musician and songwriter from Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. A beautiful area, ripe with mountainous forests and skies for days, where many call Home. Where Anthony has created his brand of genreless Vibe. Taking time to create this brand of Vibe he wanted, had been kicking around, writing and touring since 1995, from Virginia to Nashville to Texas and coast to coast and back. It is often said that a songwriter or song can be genre defining or to be easily compared to or paralleled with an artist or band currently on a certain chart. Anthony Wayne did not set out to be genreless but with so many influences and a vast creative pallet, he has given his music a challenging classification and ultimately, Freedom. Teni Rane comes back in the studio and performs some songs off of her new album "Goldenrod"

Inspired by the stories of everyday life, Teni Rane is a folk-country singer-songwriter with a vintage vocal edge and a knack for capturing ordinary scenes in a way that is at once specific and widely relatable. Comfortable in everything from overalls to full-body sequins, Rane isn’t afraid to explore musical territory and synthesizes vocal and sonic influences into her own brand of country-infused, Americana-folk-pop with a jazzy vocal lean that feels simultaneously familiar and brand new.

2024 sees her offer her first full length album to the world. Releasing in early August, listeners will find familiar a few of the tunes that were leading singles for the album in 2023, including the title track, “Goldenrod.” Taking shape at a time in Rane’s life when everything seemed to be up for re-negotiation, the arc of the album focuses on what it means to allow change to influence a life without eradicating the individual. Inspired by the shoulder season “as the summer fades into fall,” each track has a reflective bent that calls attention to the lessons, both cruel and kind, that are learned simply by looking around.

Lyrically lead, each track on “Goldenrod” builds on the backbone of Rane’s acoustic guitar. The sonic landscape of the album boldly leans into cinematic, orchestral cello sweeps and gritty electric guitars while maintaining a balanced ability to tap back into intentionally crafted solo cello work and specifically placed acoustic guitar melodies. The body of work displays a strong cohesion of vision as well as an ability to sonically craft for each song’s storyline.

“Goldenrod” came to life in Bristol, VA at Classic Recording Studio with GRAMMY nominated Mike Stephenson engineering and co-producing alongside Rane. Album credits include GRAMMY nominees Dave Eggar (cello, piano) and Phil Faconti (acoustic, electric, baritone, classical guitars and ukulele), past collaborator Roger Gustafsson (bass, steel guitar), and Rane’s own partner Jonathan Shumaker (bass).
