Jesus lived an ordinary life for most of His years, but during His three-year public ministry He taught with authority and performed miracles that drew thousands of eyewitnesses across the region. Yet despite the power and compassion of His ministry, religious leaders viewed Him as a threat and pressured Roman authorities to crucify Him. When Jesus died, even His closest followers believed the story was over.

But the story didn’t end at the cross.

On the third day, the tomb was empty. Jesus appeared alive to His disciples, to skeptics like Thomas, to His own brother James, and even to more than 500 people at one time. These eyewitnesses didn’t merely claim that Jesus rose from the dead—they built their lives on that conviction and many ultimately gave their lives defending it.

Paul explains that the resurrection changes everything. If Christ did not rise from the dead, then faith is meaningless and death remains undefeated. But because Jesus rose, death no longer has the final word. Through the resurrection, God has defeated sin, broken the power of death, and offered eternal life to all who trust in Christ.

Where is God when life feels like a pressure cooker? When the world is filled with chaos, anger, confusion, and pain—it’s natural to ask, “Lord, where are You?” In John 11, we find that even those closest to Jesus wrestled with His timing. Mary and Martha called for Jesus, but He delayed. Lazarus died. Yet in the waiting, God was working.

This story shows us that God’s delays are not denials. His love isn’t always measured by immediate action, but by the deeper deliverance He is bringing for His glory and our good. Jesus reveals Himself not just as a miracle worker, but as the Resurrection and the Life—the One who offers unshakable hope in the face of death itself.

The gospel gives us a new identity—hidden with Christ now and revealed with Him in glory. From that identity flows a new mindset and a new wardrobe: compassion, kindness, humility, patience, forgiveness, and love. As the word of Christ dwells richly in us, His peace rules our hearts—even when circumstances don’t.

* Why transformation begins in the mind: “set your minds on things above.”

* What it means to put to death the old self and not keep sin as a “pet.”

* How the new self is being renewed—growth as a Spirit-powered process.

* Why the church has no second-class citizens: Christ is “all and in all.”

Colossians 2:16–23

So often we mistake the picture for the Person and the shadow for the Substance. In Colossians 2, Paul warns the church not to let religious rules, rituals, or man-made standards take the place of Christ Himself.

Legalism makes rules we can keep so we can feel better about ourselves, but Paul reminds us that these things are “of no value” in producing true godliness. Instead, Christ is the center—the substance—and He calls us to liberty, unity, and peace.

In this message we’ll see:

-Why shadows like festivals, diets, and disciplines can never replace Jesus.

-How legalism kills faith and growth.

-Why Christian liberty is about prioritizing peace over personal preference.
