We sense that God is doing something significant in His church: He is birthing a new move through His Spirit. When we step into God’s greater plans to extend His Kingdom, we must be aware that the enemy is watching, hoping to oppose and destroy these plans along with God’s people. In the same way, there must be discipline exercised in God’s household, as the Bible tells us that what one believer does affects the rest of the Body. The goal of church discipline is always restoration. In faithful hands, money is a useful tool in the Kingdom and everyday life. However, the Bible warns us not to be lovers of money. In the Bible, we see that Judas betrayed Jesus, and Ananias and Sapphira were struck dead because of their unfaithful hearts in stewarding finance – they loved money. What does the church look like when built the way Jesus intended? One of the most important aspects to consider is leadership – they define the values, the boundaries, and, ultimately, the health of the church. Too often, we allow the lenses of our culture to influence how we see God, measuring Him by our own societal standards and thereby judging His actions according to our own understanding. In this session, Andrew Selley reminds us that we must embrace God for who He is, fully aligning ourselves with what the Bible says about Him. We are encouraged to consider both the kindness and the sternness of God according to Romans 11:22. He unpacks the severity of God’s judgment of sin by explaining the severe impact sin has on us and on creation. Jesus died on the cross to reconcile us to God, allowing us to come into His presence. The Lord loves spending time with us and desires a living relationship with us, His children. Only through this connection with Jesus can we bear good fruit, as the Word tells us that we can do nothing aside from the Lord – we must abide in Him.
