Welcome to the Comment Lounge.

Join us (Andy, Joshua, and Paul) as we discuss all things art, photography, and cinema. We spend our days editing and shooting photos and video. In between gigs and rendering we end up talking and debating and figured why not record some of it and bring you along on the discussions.

In this episode we dive into a little bit of our personal likes by exploring directors and films we consider underrated.

These aren't directors and movies that just the "art house" films but movies that hit the mainstream audience but for some reason didn't resonate with the general public. Was the movie ahead of its time? Does the director have an approach that audiences aren't ready for? Let's discuss

And we all have those movies that we hate to love - those movies where you wouldn't seek out but if you were flipping around and stumbled upon it you can't help but stop ant watch, no matter how embarrassing it is if anyone found out. But a guilty pleasure isn't just about movies you are embarrasses to admit watching but they could also be movies that seem so to match with what someone would expect you to like. We talk about what those movies are for ut.

Film vs movies, comedy as cinema, and are award show relevant

Welcome to the Comment Lounge.

In this episode we are trying to figure out what the difference is between a movie and a piece of cinema - a flick or film. Can movies be shifted from movie to cinema?

Along the lines of cinema we chat about comedy having its place under the title of being ‘cinema.’ Does it have to be a dark comedy or cane a purely funny comedy be considered high cinema?

Something that is fairly common with comedies is puerile content. Can a movie attempt at being considered ‘cinema’ if it has too much puerile humor? What is the line between useful and going overboard?

To round out this discussion we then look at how cinema is honored by examining awards shows and their relevance. Are these awards a good indicator of what the best of the best is for the year? What good comes from the Oscars, the Golden Globes, and others aside from people patting themselves on the back?

We finish up the episode with a couple lightning round questions.
