Because what I see so often with coaches, especially those transitioning from corporate into building a coaching business, is that somewhere along the way, the business starts to feel like it’s just… posting.

In this conversation, I’m sharing something I noticed in myself very recently: a deep, heavy resistance to looking at 2025 and moving forward. Not because I didn’t care. Not because I was unmotivated. But because there was still disappointment, regret, and unfinished emotional charge sitting there.

And that resistance mattered.

In this episode, I talk about why simply “reflecting on the year” or listing what went wrong often doesn’t help and can actually leave you feeling worse. I share why awareness alone isn’t enough, how easy it is to misinterpret the lesson from a year that didn’t go to plan, and how that misinterpretation quietly shapes the year that follows.

• why resistance is often information, not a problem

I wanted to do this episode for two reasons:

1. If you’re new here, I want you to hear some of my story — my background, where I come from, and the kinds of environments I worked in before becoming a coach.
2. People often ask me why I chose business coaching, how I feel qualified, and what actually led me into this work. This episode answers that directly.

Before coaching, I worked in research and advisory management consulting, HR, recruitment, and with top-tier law firms — Magic Circle, Silver Circle, and the UK’s top hundred. So when I say “corporate,” I mean corporate.

Across those years, I learned things about people, performance, resilience, communication, pressure, and responsibility that I didn’t realise were shaping me… until I started my coaching business.

And in this episode, I walk you through four of the biggest lessons that still guide how I run my business, how I coach my clients, and how I think about money, growth, and ownership.

I see so many coaches put in the work; certifications, content creation, posting online, and yet they still feel stuck. The missing piece isn’t strategy; it’s identity. You’re still operating as a coach, not a coaching business owner.

This shift is about ownership. It’s about taking full responsibility for your business, your visibility, your message, your sales: all of it. When I made this shift myself, everything changed. I stopped waiting for clients to come “out of nowhere,” and I started intentionally creating them. Because when you think and act like a business owner, client creation becomes predictable, not accidental.

I talk about what that looked like for me, and for my clients; how moving from employee energy into CEO energy turns frustration into clarity, and self-doubt into confidence. When you take your business seriously, it starts taking you seriously back.

I also share the story of one of my clients who dreamed of leaving her 9to5. By the end of our work together, she not only had an exit plan, she had a business that could sustain her. The difference wasn’t her content, her niche, or her strategy. It was this identity shift.
