TOP DOG (RIP Chuck Norris)

Chuck Norris is gone. But in his wake, he left behind countless roundhouse kicks, thousands of bad jokes, the best Conan O’Brien bit of all time, and a handful of bad-to-okay movies.

There is no better way for Justin and Steve to talk about the highly problematic man who should have just stayed a meme than by partnering up and investigating the scene (obviously without a warrant).

1995’s Top Dog is a kids’ movie (?) that covers all the major issues children in San Diego had to face in the ’90s—just kidding, it’s actually about white supremacy and hate crimes.

It’s an absolute mishmash of tones and genres, set in a world where a dog-cop can understand English and rack up 115 arrests, while also dealing with the rise of domestic terrorism.

The boys had very different experiences watching Top Dog, but they can both agree that it’s probably best that, after this, Chuck Norris’s big-screen career was sent to a farm upstate forever.

Steve and Justin have a million questions about this Philip K. Limp Dick entry in the hard sci-fi genre, like: “Is this pro- or anti-AI?”, “Why did Rebecca Ferguson agree to this?”, and “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED, ANDY DWYER??” Luckily, Judge Maddox herself is here to clear some of it up.

MERCY is already a strong contender for worst movie of 2026, but unlike real AI, it has no capacity to learn anything.

A lot has changed since Steve and Justin launched the Disasterpiece franchise with QUIGLEY, including the meteoric rise of LONGLEGS director Osgood Perkins, who is somehow the second lead in this faith-based family film.

Will this K-9-of-kindness kids’ adventure film hold up for the boys? Or have they seen too much insanity in the last five years for this to even register on their weird scale? Just like God, Justin and Steve are here to give Archie Channing one more shot.

COP ROCK!! If you listened to our episode about the pilot of the gritty ’90s musical cop show COP ROCK, you know that Justin and Steve fell in love with the boys in blue who sing the blues.

So they’re heading back out on the beat to cover the second episode of this mismatched genre mash-up, titled “Ill-Gotten Gaines.”

Will the second episode be as fun as the pilot? Will the songs still come out of nowhere and have almost nothing to do with the plot? Will the cowboy robot make an appearance? WILL RANDY NEWMAN STILL PERFORM THE THEME SONG??

Luckily for the boys, the answer to all of these questions is a resounding yes.

DISASTERPIECE IS BACK! This week, the boys are taking a look at the cult classic KILLING AMERICAN STYLE from SAMURAI COP director Amir Shervan. Robert Z’Dar leads this domestic thriller that is unfortunately light on action (or anything exciting, really) and heavy on the ZZZZZZZZs.

The charismatic gentlemen Justin and Steve may have had to fight their way through this wet noodle of an action movie, but they came out the other side with lots of hot takes about this cold fish.

But even if this horseless slog was a letdown, the life story of its director is a weird and wild tale. He may have faltered on this outing, but his résumé will always have us saying, “Well done indeed, bro.”

HO HO HI YA! The boys are wrapping up our holiday season by finally watching A KARATE CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. A movie that has as much to do with Christmas as gravy, psychics, murder, the justice system, clowns, and gun rights-and is somehow about all of those things.

Justin and Steve brave the cold and hit the dojo to study up and find out how the creators of a movie about karate and Christmas forgot to figuratively or literally deck any halls. Unfortunately, the answers put the writer/director so deep on the naughty list that coal doesn’t even want anything to do with him.

The CABBAGE PATCH KIDS Riots

It’s 1983. You’re a dumb kid who wants a weird doll. Your parents have been blinded by capitalistic rage. Some kids got what they wanted. Some adults got hurt. Some people made a buttload of money. It was THE CABBAGE PATCH KIDS RIOTS.

Steve and Justin take a trip back in time to explore the moment when all of America lost its mind over a doll that looked like a dimple had a baby: the Cabbage Patch Kid.

Was there any good reason for the violence and greed that overtook Christmas of 1983 besides the doll being “so dang cute”? It doesn’t seem like it. But the deep, weird, and often creepy lore of the dolls themselves is enough to make you ask what was in the water in the early ’80s.

Vitaliy Versace: Exclusive Interview

It’s a huge day for the boys as they sit down with the one-and-only VITALIY VERSACE, director of the Disasterpiece classics The Last Vampire on Earth and Born Into Mafia.

From trying to understand his filmmaking philosophy to unlocking his mysterious YouTube page, Justin and Steve had a million questions for the Russian director. And their most surprising discovery is… he’s a pretty normal and very sweet guy who just loves making movies.

The boys also discover that Vitaliy has been involved in dozens of big-budget film productions, and he was more than willing to spill the tea on some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. But like all things Vitaliy touches, the more they found out, the more mysterious he became.

The Fever Dream 'Let it Be' Video

In 1970, The Beatles released their final-and worst-studio album, Let It Be. Since then, its underwhelming title track has become associated with charity events, social causes, drunk boomer sing-alongs, and is probably the favorite song of the cringiest person you know.

But in 2010, the Norwegian travel show Gylne Tider pulled off the impossible by making the song actually entertaining for the first time. With the help of over two dozen celebrities from the ’80s and ’90s, and a cheap-to-license version of the song intended to raise money following a ferry disaster, the show unintentionally created one of the weirdest videos on YouTube.

From Jason Alexander to Ireland’s very own Boyzone, no one on the “Let It B-List” was left out of this baffling piece of advertising.

Justin and Steve may never recover after enduring some of the laziest, cheapest filmmaking they’ve ever witnessed. It feels almost impressive to make a movie this bad, but just like planet Earth herself, Amazon has a special talent for ruining everything it touches.

But no matter how good of a P.I. you might be, you’ll never see the crazy genre pivot this show takes in its second season.

Nobody wanted this spin-off, and the wildly successful original show didn’t need a franchise. It’s the TV equivalent of a waiter pouring hot fudge all over a steak you were in the middle of enjoying.

To gear up for the release of SUPERMAN, Steve and Justin are talking about the fourth installment of the original Superman film series—and Christopher Reeve’s final flight in the world’s most famous Speedo.

And who better to take the reins for the big finale than Cannon Films, who, in the same year as QUEST FOR PEACE, also released the deep-bench sequels Death Wish 4 and American Ninja III.

It’s a cheap, flimsy whimper of an ending for the legendary franchise, and killed any other Superman movies for 19 years. Not even Lex Luthor could have done as much damage to the Man of Steel.

This week, DISASTERPIECE celebrates the 50th anniversary of JAWS by taking a look at its worst sequel, JAWS: THE REVENGE … A movie so crazy and misguided that a shark seeking personal revenge on the Brody family is the least of its problems.

Join Steve and Justin as they navigate a sea of insane decision-making that includes (but is not limited to): a magic shark that can roar, Michael Caine in shorts, telepathy, extremely horny characters, and some of the craziest dialogue the boys have ever had to try to decode. Not to mention one of the most unjustified explosions in film history.

Nothing in this movie makes much sense … except for the dollar signs in the producers' eyes. Luckily, when JAWS: THE REVENGE was released, audiences made it clear that they were “DONE-DONE” with the franchise, and let the descendants of Bruce the shark rest ... for now.

Duke Nukem Forever - Sequel Summer

It’s time for DISASTERPIECE to cover their first-ever video game sequel: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER, the worst entry in a beloved—and wildly offensive—first-person shooter franchise. A game in development for so long that many of the teens who weren’t allowed to play the original had kids by the time it was released.

But even though DUKE NUKEM FOREVER took almost forever to create, don’t worry, kids—it’s still packed with just as much crass humor, toxic masculinity, hyper-violence, misogyny, and good old-fashioned swearing as you remember. And if all of that seemed way too offensive to grown-ups in 2011, don’t worry about that either—because the game was such a stinker, it killed the whole franchise.

HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING - Sequel Summer

The weather’s getting nicer and the multiplexes are packed with IP, which can only mean one thing… It’s SEQUEL SUMMER!

Justin and Steve are spending the next three months exploring some of the worst #2s of all time—starting with the infamous cult disaster: Highlander II: The Quickening.

“There should have only been ONE!” pretty much sums up how the boys feel about it, especially since they got their hands on the notorious, out-of-print U.S. theatrical cut of this classic disasterpiece.

This version is somehow shorter and much worse than the fully restored cut. It’s a movie so bad, they invented the “Poochie” rule—retconning the main characters’ origin stories to explain that they’ve been aliens the whole time.

Yeah… It’s that bad.

TITANIC II

We’re wrapping up CATASTANIC by going back out to sea with TITANIC II. It’s not a sequel to 1997’s TITANIC, but the creative minds at The Asylum film company sure want to trick your Nana into thinking it is.

Wave goodbye to Justin and Steve as they board the maiden voyage of a ship that has less of a chance of crossing that ocean than a cruise liner made of concrete. This D-tier action thriller is more POSEIDON ADVENTURE than romantic-tragedy as it tries to raise the stakes of the catastrophe it’s exploiting, with less than 1% of the budget of the movie it’s trying to capitalize on. But even with lame stunts, atrocious CGI, impossible logic, a script held together with chewing gum, and the cultural impact of throwing a pebble into the ocean… It’s still one of the most successful releases under The Asylum name.

It’s TITANIC: THE BOARD GAME: THE DISASTERPIECE EPISODE!! It’s still smooth sailing for us as we continue to celebrate CATASTANIC, a month-long look at the craziest Titanic-inspired disasters. And this week, with the help of Ellen Gutoskey and Paul Ramsdell, Justin and Steve roll the dice on a board game that wants all of the namesake that comes with the Titanic, but none of the tragedy. And it ends up being just as boring and uneventful as a cruise that doesn’t hit an iceberg. It may be totally lacking in gameplay, fun, strategy, and logic, but at least the board is pretty to look at, and the public can now know what it felt like to win the famous Titanic weightlifting competition.

So what happens when you put trampolines on a basketball court? Many people get hurt and viewers like to tune in to watch it once. From its humble inception drawn on a cocktail napkin, Mason Gordon’s SLAMBALL hopes were as high as its acrobatic players. Unfortunately, the grip of gravity is inescapable, and in less than 3 years it all came crashing down. Did the world need or want a new sport? Probably not. But boy oh boy are we happy about the insane highlight reels that will live on forever on YouTube. SLAM IT

Can an all-star Star Trek cast including Nichelle Nichols, Walter Koenig, Ethan Phillips, Alan Ruck, and Garret Wang save this low-budget love letter to Star Trek from feeling like the Wrath of Comic-Con? Logic would suggest ‘no’. But it was still good enough to change the rules around what can be considered a Star Trek ‘fan film’.

Is Seagal’s character a good guy? An anti-hero? An ex-navy SEAL? A selfish capitalist? An environmentalist? A firefighter? A Native American? A terrorist? A bear? He’s kinda all of them! And none of them! It’s all as confusing as Michael Caine's hair.

But Steve and Justin can guarantee there are enough nuts shots in this thing to change the essence of a man.

Steve Ward and Justin ‘Red’ Dodd travel back to the attitude era of the early 2000s to intercept all of the info they can find about what was supposed to be the next evolution of American football. But after trying every gimmick in the playbook (comedy sketches, fewer safety regulations, giveaways, ‘tours’ of the cheerleaders’ locker room) McMahon and co. still managed to fumble the ball HARD.

From a director on their deathbed to locations that look ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like a spaceship, Space Mutiny doesn’t often get it right, but when it does, it usually involves a giant explosion. And that’s just fine in the boys’ book.

On this week’s DISASTERPIECES, Justin and Steve look back at the brief and not-so-glorious reign of the mp3 player that almost every kid was disappointed to find under the Christmas tree. From the obtuse ad campaign to the unfortunate branding of being able to ‘squirt’ your friends, the ZUNE was pretty much DOA.

Was it actually better than the iPod? Maybe. But it was definitely more righteous than Neil Young’s PONO.
