Regina shares her own story of hating being called a 'cis woman', and what it took to understand that discomfort as a privilege to own rather than a label to resist.

The first hire for Disrupticon wasn't a venue or a speaker, it was an accessibility consultant: Jo McMeechan (she/her) of SENStory Group, who has since carried out audits and helped shape guidance that covers everything from level access and breakout spaces to physical and emotional wellbeing throughout the day.

G and Regina explain how Disrupticon grew out of years of conversations about allyship, marginalisation, and the fear so many people carry about getting it wrong. What began as two friends talking became a day-long event for allies, marginalised people, and anyone trying to figure out where they fit in the middle.

They walk through the shape of the day itself: a lineup of speakers each followed by an open floor Q&A, a fuck-up forum for the moments allyship goes wrong, and a deliberately low-key evening with board games, craft and a bar rather than a party atmosphere, run by a fully neurodivergent team who understand that energy ebbs and flows.
