Thirteen-year-old Max is a legend in Cape KOTO, a quiet seaside village. He should be living the dream as a Keeper Of The Ocean, diving for his dad on a tugboat called The Big Dipper, but lately that dream has felt more like a nightmare. Unsure if KOTO Diving is his true calling, Max becomes convinced he needs to get out and start over somewhere new. But, is running away the answer?
