In this edition of the podcast, we will be featuring the Danish Fiddle Quartet, recorded at the famous Danish Tønder Festival that runs the last weekend of August every year.

The Danish Fiddle Quartet was started by the violinist and singer, Jørgen Dickmeiss. Jørgen is normally playing a lot of traditional and newly composed music with his wife, in a duo called Svøbsk.

But during the last few years he has been working on new string arrangements, partly for some of his own compositions and songs, but also for a few traditional tunes, and even for some music by the world famous Danish composer, Carl Nielsen, who lived from 1865 to 1931.

Ever since the Danish Fiddle Quartet began playing together not so long ago, they have released the album, Nattens Favn, The Embrace of the Night. Also the other violinist, Ditte Fromseier, who has also played a lot of roots, folk and trad music, has started writing new material for the quartet. They call their music for ‘Chamber Folk’.

The two other members of the Quartet are Mathilde Holding who plays the cello, and Bruno Sanches who plays the viola. Both are from the classical world of music.

Folk Live is being brought to you by RadioFolk.dk, Folk Spot and Tønder Festival, supported by Spot Festival, and the Danish Arts Council.

You will find more info about the Danish Fiddle Quartet at www.danishfiddlequartet.dk

This concert was recorded and mixed by Peter Hellesøe, and produced and hosted by Morten Alfred Høirup. In this edition of the podcast we will be featuring the Danish double bass player Mathæus Bech, recorded at the famous Danish Tønder Festival, that runs the last weekend of August every year.

Mathæus Bech is an excellent young bass player with roots in jazz and classical music, as well as in Danish folk music. He strives, as he put it, "..to continue the proud Danish tradition of virtuoso and solo double bassists, and he wants to show a new generation of music lovers that the double bass doesn't have to stand in the background."

Mathæus has a lot of great projects boiling, and I am sure that you will hear more from him in the near future.

For this performance Mathæus Bech chose a handful of good friends and great young musicians to assist him in playing a few of his own compositions. So feel free to take your seat, and something nice to drink, and get ready for quite a concert featuring double bass Mathæus Bech with Sebastian Bloch on guitar, Villads Hoffmann on cittern, Martin Strange on clarinet, and Henriette Flach on violin.

https://radiofolk.dk/folk-spot-denmark-2022-mathus-bech

<itunes:image href="https://artwork.captivate.fm/d212ead4-64fc-46db-8b0a-8a79c0ec17fa/-tUPqAG-Ofgpe1Mu9UusFwu7.jpg"/>
Hvem står for podcasten / hvem er speakeren?

<itunes:duration>27:00</itunes:duration><itunes:explicit>false</itunes:explicit><itunes:episodeType>full</itunes:episodeType><itunes:author>Hvem står for podcasten / hvem er speakeren?</itunes:author>

Folk Live - Fionia Folk Brothers 2022
<itunes:title>Folk Live - Fionia Folk Brothers 2022</itunes:title>

FIONIA FOLK BROTHERS

Welcome to RadioFolk.dk's podcast Folk Live.
