The story touched me deeply, as we both share the experience of being adopted, growing up in Northern Norway with different skin color, and feeling like we didn’t belong, while facing adversity, psychiatry, and racism. In this episode, Alexander shares his moving and challenging life story — including child welfare, psychiatry, abuse, and family reunification — and we discuss resilience, identity, and hope.

The episode builds on Alexander Skadberg’s podcast “SISU – med Skadberg og Lie”, where “SISU” is a Finnish word representing extraordinary strength and determination — the quality that can help children and young people overcome great challenges, even when everything seems hopeless.
