Years ago, I shared this message with a group of men in prison, emphasizing the biblical mandate for men to lead their families as heads and high priests. It's crucial for men to understand that being the head of the household doesn't equate to a domineering, oppressive role but rather one of guidance, strength, and protection. Drawing from Webster's definition of "head" as a chief with authority to lead, men are called to lead their families in line with God's design. The concept of a royal priesthood, as mentioned in 1 Peter 2:9, further underscores this responsibility for men to act as priests in their homes. Satan's primary objective is to dismantle families, disrupting the divine order established by God. As men, it's essential to be alert to Satan's schemes and actively resist his attempts to undermine our roles within our families. To uphold our positions as heads of our households, several actions are key. Cultivating a godly character, donning the full armor of God daily, and maintaining unity with God are foundational. Men must also be attuned to their families, aware of their children's influences, and exhibit self-control in various aspects of life. The acronym POWER highlights the importance of prayer, obedience, water intake, exercise, and rest in strengthening men to fulfill their roles effectively. God promises restoration and renewal, taking our past pains and transforming them into a hopeful future. It's vital for men to lean into this promise of restoration, especially in the context of leading their families. By seeking God's guidance, being obedient to His voice, taking care of our physical health, and resting in His promises, men can operate from a position of strength and wisdom within their households. As we wrap up, I offer a prayer for peace in Israel and for those who may not yet know God, urging them to open their hearts to His love and redemption.
