In this first episode of “In Charity and Truth,” Archbishop Lori interviews Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop emeritus of New York, on the theme of Catholics and the American story.

Cardinal Dolan argues that history is essential – not merely as a record of the past, but as a living source of wisdom and spiritual insight. He traces the Catholic presence in America from the Spanish and French missions through founding-era figures such as Bishop John Carroll and Cardinal James Gibbons, who demonstrated that Catholic faith and American patriotism are deeply compatible, not in conflict.
