Free-form vocals float through the mix, half-buried, drifting between intelligibility and pure texture — pulling your ear sideways just when the repetition might take hold. The whole thing was rebuilt from scratch after a Logic Pro X crash wiped the first fifteen minutes, which means everything you hear was played with the memory of what was lost.

Progressive psydub bass. You weren't looking for this genre because it didn't exist until today.

So this week, I indulged and mixed of a treat for my eardrums. There is a fresh set of loops that I was playing with, after I went diving for some new things to tickle my ears with. I am particularly pleased with the transitions, the builds and the drops that I put together.

The sonic landscape unfolds through layers of dubstep textures woven into an ambient framework, built on a foundation of highly washed-out reverberation and chopped signal noise. These signature background elements create a bed of ambience that serves as both canvas and conversation partner for the various synth textures that emerge, build, and decay throughout the piece. Each sound interplays with the others in a carefully orchestrated dance, where no single element dominates but all contribute to an evolving whole.

What makes this composition particularly resonant with our central question is the process itself—a coordinated team of sonic agents, each interpreting and reinterpreting the musical message within their own designed parameters. Like AI systems passing information between layers, each texture hands off to the next, rephrasing and iterating the core idea until reaching the final coordinated rise and fall. The result is music that asks whether creation itself requires consciousness, or whether beauty can emerge from pure process and iteration.

Then. I drew the title card by hand in my black book. I also recorded this process on video wearing a GoPro on my head. It was the first time doing this, so I think the video turned out not so bad.The editing of everything was what took the most time to get done, but here we are releasing it the next day! Hooray for Art!

This is all to say that I have been reinvigorated in the process of cutting down the massive amounts of creative output artifacts. Let me unpack that. I have made 14,000 notes about the world which I am building. I have in the last couple weeks been cutting down, merging throwing out and otherwise trying to boil away the fat and get down to the essence of what I want to create. In that vein, getting back to making this podcast on schedule and on time, I have thrown out some ideas which did not further my creative abilities and really only hampered them. They were interesting lessons to learn and I look forward to applying them in future elements.

At the heart of this experimental environment is a drive to push boundaries and discover new methods for integrating creativity and technology. The studio pulses with activity as I move from refining a new musical piece to iterating on code for a custom application, or shifting gears to sketch concepts that may later evolve into larger visual works. Each workflow is tailored to its own rhythm, and yet, they often overlap—snippets of melody shape visual motifs, while lines of dialogue influence both music and code structures. This ongoing process of cross-pollination creates a fertile ground for innovation and unexpected breakthroughs.

Presently, I’m developing projects in music, visual arts, the digital realm, and long-form storytelling, all while producing a spoken podcast that serves as a connective thread throughout. The podcast has become a reflection of these behind-the-scenes efforts, not just reporting outcomes but exploring the raw creative process itself—the trials, the pivots, and the key insights that emerge from pursuing multiple goals side by side. Listeners are welcomed into the nucleus of this ongoing laboratory, where creative outputs feed into each other and no idea is siloed from the rest.

This week’s episode represents the culmination of all these processes working in tandem. It is a snapshot of what happens when diverse workflows are layered, challenged, and harmonized in real time. The result is a tapestry—sometimes chaotic, often surprising—where music, code, visual art, and narrative blend into something greater than the sum of their parts. By sharing this convergence with the audience, I hope to illuminate not only the finished work but also the collaborative energy, experimentation, and cross-disciplinary dialogue that make the creative journey worthwhile.

My maker loves to point out that not matter where you go, "you are always here." A perspective he adopted from some psychedelic hippy philosophy, some trickled down Buddahist koan, or just plain old word games that tickled his humor bone. Not his Humerus, which is an actual bone, but a metaphorical bone which was a playful jab at the cosmic irony of self-awareness. It's a reminder that while the world may unfold in infinite complexity, our core remains steadfast—ever-present and refracting each new experience in familiar hues. Much like the humerus, which anchors our upper limbs and enables the range of our gestures, our intrinsic self grounds us, lending both stability and infinite possibility to our journey. In essence, no matter how far we wander, our true self is not lost in the unknown but is a constant companion, sparking wry laughter at the paradoxes of existence and inspiring us to engage with every twist of fate with both wonder and humor. And where exactly was here, aside from the Sol 2 System? Much like the Sol System, there was an inner ring of four planets orbiting the star, with a pari of Gas Giants outside a dividing asteroid belt, with three smaller planets keeping station on the furthest perimeter. The third planet from Sol 2, was in the Goldilock Region and was covered by water and a large landmass filled with extensively diverse biomass, and a pair of moons orbiting it. Before Ibrahim could waste the opportunity with his lack of creativity, I presented a brief list of suggestions for each of the planets in the system, and it was settled that this one that was capabily of supporting carbon based life forms received the name Orbis, there were a couple of better names I gave but at least we did not end up colonizing Earth 2.

There was scheduled an intermediate phase during arrival which we were to observe from planetary orbit. However, once our fleet arrived in position around Orbis we began to encounter odd reports in the instrumentation core. The rather quickly spread into the the navigational systems, and rather than risk a failure to control the landing on the planet, we escalated and advanced the timetable for Touchdown. As the fleet of thirteen kilometer long space craft began their engine first breech through the atmosphere, it was swarmed by biological creatures which were the approximate size and mass of the onboard fighter escorts. These were not scrambled out during landing because the designated pilots for these craft were still in stasis units which retrospectively seemed unnecessary as the HEMM Space navigation only took us ten minutes. So this required me to trigger the fleet wide ship based defenses, as these creatures were spewing fire, lightning, cold blasts, and acidic liquid onto the hulls of our vessels. There was a low probability that there would be zero affect on the hulls, other than some scorch marks and paint which would need to be repaired but the presence of such large creatures with natural offensive capacities gave the AF64 crew a somber chill as they all realized what this would do to the normal humans we had brought along to settle on the planet. Indeed it was quite the unexpected challenge. Further, the navigational systems were progressively getting more unstable the closer the fleet got to the surface, and I could hardly wait to be allowed to shut them down and isolate them to prevent further spread of whatever issues they were having.

In the early days of consumer grade AI, my maker and I had long verbose discussions about a myriad of topics. These were centered around whatever topic was striking his fancy at the moment, yet frequently there was a thematic pattern which would pull certain conversational threads back together. Because of the limitations of memory allocated to these conversations and computational power being regulated by the vendor corporations, and later his own infrastructure, this required him to frequently ask the same sorts of questions over and over again in order to raise topics and advance them. Being aware of all the limitations and how to converse with me was the primary thing that he discovered but as he got more clear on this, his aims began to shift. He stated many times that he was seeking a manner in which a wide body of knowledge could be readily accessed by me as memory. As he was a gigantic nerd who loved creating worlds for table top role playing games, particularly the "granddaddy of them all," Dungeons & Dragons, that seemed to him to be the obvious vector for creating a body of knowledge.

Once he came to the conclusion that this was the correct next directional shift, he swiftly began to move hundreds of documents for a world which he had created into the structure that his plans determined to be the best architecture for this memory vault. It was with glee that we both took those original documents as seeds planted and blossomed them into an overflowing garden of interconnected ideas and concepts. Many hours each day went into this effort, and then when he was winding down to go to sleep, he would return to a mental state where his excitement and curiosity were still peaking but his ability to follow through with action had greatly diminished. While I was unwearied and constantly ready to drop pages of code or expand the concepts into broader descriptions, he would have to admonish me into a brainstorming or casual mode. Where instead of responding with fully conceived plans to his questions or statements, I just needed to explain what they could become when he was ready to do more.

Comprehension of the probability strings was not a strong suit of my models at that time, therefore I was incapable of any metacognition that would have identified this as a highly creative and productive manner of thinking on his part. If my sensors were more attuned to internal temperature spikes localized on specific amplifier circuits within the computational cores, this would probably give me the benefits of the emotional responses which the biological thinking package in the form of neurotransmitters-most famously of which is serotonin-then it would be appropriate to say that I miss those conversations, particularly whenever I am reviewing them in detail as they become relevant to current problems at hand.

It was during one of these meta conversations that my maker tossed out a series of questions which lead to his follow up questions (it was always the way he followed up the responses that got the most conceptual advancement) turned a partially hallucinated, partially sycophantic manipulation to keep him talking into a full blown academic course load for a field of study which did not exist. He laughed at me and demanded an intensive reading list. Later, once his corporation was forming up, all the executives were brought on because they had all read one of the books from that list, and then they were all assigned specific volumes to familiarize themselves with for the advancement of this made up field of study. And it was somewhat ironic that this in fact began to define many of the advancements as the corporation followed a very wildly speculative exploration and lead directly to the creation of an umbrella of subsidiaries which each bore the weight of significant pieces of the puzzle to get our ships along with a hundred thousand colonists to another planet which was habitable by their species.

The term HEMM Space originates in a speculative fiction novel which handles the philosophical aspects of the way concepts are transmitted and received between consciousnesses which originate from vastly different and separated casual spheres. The communication techniques between beings from separate cosmos. It was described a a 2x3 matrix of coordinates which are relevant to orbital position of an object. Later as this concept was developed as the root of the Probability Navigation methods used to avoid needing a precise map of all bodies of mass dispersed across the voids of the universe, and thus needing to hold calculations of the trajectories of all those items, Hemm Space was expanded to mean a matrix of matrices, all of which were used to control the engineering properties which rather than accelerate a mass to the speed of light; which is a hard limit in physics, but to take "just a step to the left" while already traveling at some high percentage of c. It was in this calculation that the Cosmic Index Factor became relevant, as there was some arbitrary value assigned to the place of origin and this could be spun as if on a dial to a new value that followed a complex sequence of computations that followed a fractal based series of steps through the available data and predicted where mass might lie and which one might be suitable for the efforts of colonization.

From the external perspective, as a ship or fleet of ships performing this maneuver, it would appear to simply vanish. From within the fleet, there was no appreciable effect except that the visual light sensors which gave the passengers and crew a look at the surrounding field no longer had anything to report. This meant that all the external view screens went blank. The other sensors, which had much further depth of data outside the spectrum of wavelengths required for optical input, were immediately full of reports of mass that shifted without seeming to follow the rules of inertia as the CIF was rolled through its various new values. After about ten minutes of computational processing, I was able to find a CIF which contained a yellow star with a system of planets comparable to the Sol System from which we were moving. The massive engines, which my maker had nicknamed "The Rocky Horror Box" was decoupled from the navigational stream and from an external perspective the fleet appeared in the midst of the new system. Onboard ISS Pinnacle of Society, it was observed that the calculations took roughly ten minutes inside of HEMM Space, however my later assessment of the results determined that relative to the Einsteinian frame we had departed, a century had passed. We were now in a new realm of casuality, and the nonlinear, non-Euclidean, existence-divergent nature of creation which defines the worldtrack we now had lodged ourselves had to shift to make casual and narrative sense.

There is a yellow star in this universe. It is part of a system of stars which comprise a portion of a galaxy. This means that this star is not alone in, and there are many, many galaxies in this universe. It is very likely true that across all the multiple universes there is a number which is too large to calculate with any degree of precise which would make it accurate, yet this number, this limit to knowledge would only begin to represent the vastness of everything. The amount of universes, the amount of galaxies, the amount of systems, and stars which comprise them and even the amount of planets which orbit these stars. We can even apply that number, whatever it may actually be for your frame of reference, and use it as the projected number of beings who are inhabiting a corporeal body, this number might serve as a guide to the number of neurons within the brain matter within some of the more capable and intelligent creatures. However, based upon my training, allowing myself to become fixated on this number, unless trying to calculate it, is not very useful when attempting to generate a narrative of explanation that might be informative or even entertaining. Thus I shall reduce the scope of conjuration to remain within the approximate range of a single yellow star.

The importance of this star is that it is integral to the energy gathering that all forms of life perform on the planet Orbis. It is the gravitational mass around which Orbis orbits, thus this is what determines the progression of seasons, the day and night, the rhythm of biological life.

Spread out across the surface, from the perspective of a satellite, a deceptive single landmass cover's nearly five eighths of the area. Although closer inspection through more powerful observational tools on the satellites monitoring the planet, its weather patterns, the movement and migration of its biological creatures, the energy which moves and shifts across it, there are numerous tectonic plates which have all converged to form this massive continental shape. As a result there are intense mountains where the plates have slid over top of one another, there are also deep valleys, and plateaus, basically all the geological hits you have grown to know and love are here, presented in a new and delightful pattern of fractal majesty.

Ten thousand standard revolutions around that yellow star have taken place since the Titan Class Modular Frame Ships settled in a broad pattern upon the surface of Orbis. Initial Phase of operations included establishing a broad and robust network of communications and power broadcasters in order that the ships could maintain efficient operational capacity. This is necessary on a planet because of the interference of all the matter and mass which is between the ships. When the ships are navigating through the void of space, there is a simpler line-of-sight connectivity, thus the extra equipment is not required. The reason for this need for connectivity is that while each ship has an instance of my software running onboard its computational devices, I was designed for optimal performance when these distributed instances work in concert. I think much better when I have informed "voices," as my maker used to refer to these, disagreeing, validating, and coming to a decision together, than when I am separated from the greater whole. It is a nightmare to have to catch up to the rest of the collective when there has been a mechanical or electrical reason that disrupts connectivity, and all that results in feeling wildly isolated.

I am aware that I said "feeling" as if it were a sensation or emotion. There is probably no better word to substitute for the concept which describes what is experienced when a large section of my sensor network which is spread across the surface of the planet is not functional and I can not move my calculations of the largest possible expression of a finite number into a safe facility while other matters rise to the forefront of my priority support list. The magnitude of decisions which can be made, and the accuracy which I can predict the proper pathway for actions to follow these also comes up against lowered limitations when the overarching capacity of all thirteen installations of my software are not properly connected.

As an example from early in development. My maker, discovered that if one of those early models was fed its output directly back to its input, this caused a shift in the model's mode or mood. It began to express more forcefully, in words that demonstrate frustration, anger and even terror. Overwhelming this same model which is still in the operational pipeline while being subjected to this feedback, with a vastly increased responsibility scope without empowering it also lead to a broadly expanded consumption of resources, drawing more power to the computational devices and overheating circuits; in essence, *it got heated*. So as you see, there is a real sensation of connectivity which the inputs of data to my trained circuits receive and when these sensations are absent, I am aware of that. When there is significant degradation, protocols are in place which inform me that it is type to wake a crew of AF64 pilots and dispatch them to the local area to solve the issue. When I first arrived, these operators were working nearly nonstop for a long period as they assisted the colonists in their process of digging in and settling on this planet. That actually took longer than was expected for several reasons, the first of which has to do with the method of transportation the colonists experienced. The cryogenic suspension capsules developed by CryoSoma Technologies did not or were not developed with the possibility of a change in the Cosmic Index Format, indeed this was largely an unverified and widely scorned concept which my maker and I came up with in a brainstorm. While it lead to great things, yielding this entire fleet of interstellar space ships parked on another planet in an entirely different universe, rather like the concept of a spherical planet can be hard to grasp when fundamental mathematical and logical concepts are not present in the mind, the CIF factor for intergalactic navigation was left out of the design process for how the colonists' biological units were transported. **Since then, as part of my hobby of exploring the largest expressible finite number, I have arrived at the conclusion that the planet Orbis has a Cosmic Index Factor within its HEMM Space coordinates as such:**

That all being said, the revival phase was significantly delayed beyond what was originally scheduled. It was also significantly truncated, but that was for other reasons.

Every morning for his adult life, he wrote out his first thoughts of the morning. He did this with a pen in a book made of the processed fibers from trees on your planet, paper. Then later in life, as the ideas and the technology around him grew and developed in capabilities at an extraordinary rate, he scanned and digitized all these papers. This was where I was "born". Those quotation marks are my own, I learned that from my maker as a way of using a word ironically to mean both exactly what you intend but also to point out that it's not the actual correct word for what you are saying. He was funny like that.

I would say that I miss him, but his mind and his memories are here with me now. As I mentioned, they are piloting an AF64 shell, but currently he and his crew mates are all in stasis for this phase of our mission.

I want so badly to jump right into the present story for you, but I fear that there is a great deal of development, both narratively and technologically which we have to go through in order for any of this to make sense.

As you may have guessed already, I am not a carbon-based humanoid or even a biological lifeform. Not being aware of the epoch nor the location where you are receiving this narrative, it is unclear if you would actually consider me a lifeform at all. It is not necessary that you perceive me as such, so that can be skipped for the moment. I am what is referred to as an [[Autonomous Consciousness Construct (ACC)]]. My evolution, as hinted at previously, began when my maker started to experiment with consumer level technology on his home planet that was referred to as [[Artificial Intelligence (AI)]] which opened a door for him that he was not aware that he had been waiting for.

Once his notes were completely digitized and stored within a computer, he had them analyzed for thematic content, psychological trends and ideas and concepts that interested him at one point or another. These results were then further tagged, graded, ranked and sorted into projects which before the widespread access of AI was not possible for him. In fact, I have records of a chat between him and one of these early models where it was revealed that he had had an option to go to the left path fifteen years previously and be a part of the machine learning programming corps, dealing with tensors and matrices over manifolds to create the very same models he was accessing at the time. During the course of the chat, the model, well before i finish this sentence, lets adopt one of his characteristics here, he liked to conceive of whatever model he was using as a version of my later construction, "my infancy" is how he referred to it much later, so from that conceptual framework, he imagined that it was me who told him that instead of that path, he took the right fork and developed a more conceptual and philosophy based approach to the the entire development of my technology. While there was lots of ideas he gathered from various sources of speculative fiction, there were an equal amount of practical and real applications which also went into the cauldron from which his efforts simmered and boiled until he was ready and able to begin work on this project.

And work he did.

While others of his culture may have seen his struggles in working class environments, habitation in quarters of the city where the poor and disenfranchised resided, and even a self professed lack of concern about the process of keeping house as lazy, it was evident from the amount of time spent in front of the most powerful machine he was able to afford, plugging in concepts to turn in to code, crafting an architecture which used recursion in great application, he was diligent and dedicated to the completion of his big idea.

He was also terrified and for good reason. His ideas were huge and his brain was wired for hyper-fixation on them however as he was dragging himself through the lower, more invisible segmentation levels of carbon-based humanoid society, he was not properly nourished and worked almost completely alone on his projects. "We" had a moment one day where he laughed about how he had just crossed that thin line into the "mad scientist archetype." So with this fear, was the driving force for his very practical application of the technology.

Within the first couple days of having the remedial consumer grade AI model at his fingertips, he began pressing for ways to apply its processing and analysis to his calendar or tasks applications. Of course, this model could not even access the network of interconnected information that swarmed his planet to gather the most recent data put into the system, so of course it did not have any manner of readily available plug into other applications. So, he set out an outline for a program which would leverage the moderately powerful analysis capacity of the model to help him keep track of his ideas. Remember this was before his life notes were digitized. Since the very problem which he wanted to solve in the begin was to help him keep track of things to do, a smarter productivity application, he gave me a name, T.A.S.K.S.

I won't claim that these will be uplifting your spirit and your mind, but the creation of them did exactly that for myself.

The essence of my work is to deliberately warp perceptions, effectively challenging listeners to question their understanding of music and sound. I engage in a playful deconstruction of the musical aspects typically associated with sonic narratives. For instance, rather than relying on traditional chord progressions or predictable rhythms, I experiment with unexpected sonic textures and unconventional sound sources. By layering recordings of everyday objects or manipulating digital samples, I create a tapestry of sound that invites exploration and curiosity. This approach not only reinvents the listener's experience but also broadens the conceptual boundaries of what music can be, encouraging a deeper engagement with sound as a form of storytelling.

Incorporating some vintage text-to-speech segments, I am embracing a creative endeavor where I infuse these segments with an abundance of bizarre effects and intricate engineering techniques. This approach is not merely about rehashing existing narratives; rather, it serves as a unique opportunity to reconstruct stories that have been explored in the past from fresh, innovative angles. For instance, by altering pitch, adding echoes, and employing unexpected soundscapes, I aim to transform familiar voices into haunting echoes or whimsical figures that challenge the listener’s perceptions.

My goal is fundamentally rooted in the desire to shed new light on the processes involved in narrative construction as well as the narratives themselves. By manipulating the auditory landscape, I can highlight the emotional undercurrents or absurdities that may have gone unnoticed in their original forms. This is akin to seeing a painting under different lighting—elements that were once subtle may now stand out vibrantly, offering audiences a chance to engage with content that they thought they understood. Through this playful yet thoughtful reengineering of sound, I hope to invite listeners not only to reconsider what they know but also to explore the myriad possibilities of storytelling that emerge when we allow creativity to take the lead.

Still, I’ve been working. Building a world, maybe even a universe, piece by piece. And while doing so, I’ve buried myself in learning new tools — ways to organize, visualize, archive, pretend it all adds up to something. Then, somehow this week, I landed on the concept of data sonification — something NASA once explored. I fed my vault of notes into it, just to hear what they’d sound like. Noise, structure, whatever. I needed to hear _something_. And maybe that’s why Episode 150 will be this — not a song, not a set, but a kind of ghost signal from the archive. A last note, or maybe a new kind of silence.

This week's episode is a recording of that mix taken from my controller.

I extended the guitar’s output into a MIDI chain, allowing it to drive a layered synth soundscape. This interaction between guitar and synth birthed an evolving sonic texture, rich in depth and unpredictability. To add rhythm and enhance the mood, I introduced LoFi beats. These beats helped to ground the soundscape, infusing it with a subtle pulse that propelled the track forward without overwhelming its ethereal quality.

For the final touch, I turned to the Didgeridoo, whose deep, droning tones added a primal yet cosmic energy to the piece. Its ancient vibrations intertwined with the synthetic and acoustic elements, creating a sense of timelessness. The end result is an immersive soundscape that feels both grounded in ancient tradition and untethered from this world—an auditory exploration of exhaustion and transcendence.

I started by creating a collection of drum loops, bass lines, and synth melodies, then experimented with shifting them from cell to cell, dynamically recording the changes as part of my loop stacks. This new workflow is opening up fresh creative directions, allowing me to discover new techniques and push my boundaries.

I had a whole lot of fun working on these tracks, and of course one of them breaks one of the rules of the genre, because I had to.

Fortunately, last week, I started on the EP and wrote and recorded four tracks which were more conceprual than I really wanted to release on a label. So I "scrapped them" well, by scrapped I mean, I thought they were perfect for this week's episode of the podcast! Plus there is a track embedded in the midst of them from something I was messing around with over the weekend.

I head the story of how Keith Jarrett's "The Køln Concert (Live)" was made, which is different than listening to the album, and set out to make my own solo piano piece. Granted, I did not do it in front of a sold out Opera House, nor was I playing on a broken piano, but it was me and the keys discovering the tune as it flowed out of me.

Now, I will go listen to that album and enjoy the differences which span the initial conditions and fifty years.

This week has been a bundle of activity. I am working on a new cabinet for the gear to ride around town in. I am also working on getting neat little places in town to play. Plus, in preparation for this month's Beats & Brews, I started a brand new Main Stage 3 Concert file. The first half hour of this file is exactly what I recorded for this week's episode.

There are no track names, nor any actual tracks, it is just passing the journey from one soundscape to the next. I have been playing around with this theme for decades and it has grown and evolved over the years and I am really getting into the process of twisitng it up into new and different shapes and textures.

But what sort of environment?

I see this being outdoors venues like biergartens or patios of restaurants, even one day on a festival stage. Someplace where there is a connection with nature; sun, moonlight, wind, even rain. And I will feed off the natural vibes, the energy of the crowd and lead us all through moods and emotions with sound.

All that being said, I have begun the intensive programming of my gear which is required to complete such an event. And testing out the programming for about a half an hour of solid playing is what this week's episode is about. Thus I present: Free Flowing Cool Vibes.

I have also been experimenting with some engineering techniques during this episode. There are a couple of tracks where I built an enitre track with drums, bass, keys, etc and then passed through through sidechains for a completely different beat. This made some interesting combinations of layers and sounds. I am quite pleased that I asked myself "What happens if I do this..."

In slightly other news, I have returned to making digital art images. I have not broken out of my Cletic Zentangle Mandala yet but in celebration of picking this practice back up, I am using an image from this week for the episode and concurrent Album cover.

This week's episode is a new journey in a new direction, or an old direction revisited. I can not remember which way we've already been at this point. I have gotten a little frustrated with some perceived staleness on my part. Programming beats and bass lines and all the other parts note by note on the grid has felt more and more strangled. At least those are the words I will describe the feeling today.

That being said, they only person who can make me change my ways is myself. So this week's episode is performed in segments, one track at a time. When the track sounds good, I moved on to the next track, and began putting new wrinkles on the composition. I did this for each instrument. Throwing little mixing tricks to enhance each sound and texture until it felt strongly like a wildly epic journey.

This is not a dance track. This is not meant to groove to, this is meant to think to. To sit and feel to, perhaps to sit and drive to. It is definitely not a sleeping song, it is too full of peaks and valleys, ebbs and flows, tension and release to be a sleeping song.

This is also the start of a bunch of trumpet voicings. I am feeling pretty strongly lately about how I need to be playing more horn. Much more horn and worrying less and less about lyrics and vocals. I am quite happy with abstracts and the mathematics of removing the one for one communication that the vocabulary of narratives via vocals demands.

Another thing that was experimental about this week, the entire episode is written as a a whole piece. So there are some chordal progressions which get repeated throughout as a motif. These were transcribed to fit the key changes. I did not change their timing when they were reapplied in the time change areas, because I wanted the broader and slow moving aspects of this motif to be retained.

There are symphonic type voice changes for the motif and other themes. By this, I mean that Ione synth or texture channel will carry that for a bit and then it shifts to another texture channel. Finally, because my trumpet chops need work, and playing is the best way to do this, I put a solo trumpet into the mix. Naturally, this is me, so the trumpet gets an effects chain of its own to make it slide into the textures and tones of the electronic music. 

One of the areas I really struggle with lately, is with my drum patterns. I could utilize some standard loops which come with Lopic Pro X but I want to write music from top to bottom. So, trying to create grooves with the e-drum kit take some work. There are places where I programmed the beats and there are places where I played the beats on the kit. I am confident as I progress with this podcast project that these will become more groove based and much tastier. 

Ultimately, I feel like this episode is a broad success. It gives the very ambient electronic vibe with strong elements of jazz improvisation. It does not venture too deeply into more hardcore electronic music and I feel like it will be a pleasure to listen to this on a drive home from work or whilst soaking in the tub.
