Rick Holden has held the post of Caretaker Manager at 'The Ravens' for the majority of what's been a difficult season in the NWCFL Premier Division.

Despite numerous challenges for all involved, under Holden, FC Isle of Man met its top priority of securing safety in the division with a few weeks of the campaign to spare.

Now, FC Isle of Man are all set for their final match of the campaign away at Padiham on Saturday, 18 April.

Ahead of the trip, we sat down with Rick to get his thought on the last few weeks, the season and as a whole and what he thinks the club needs to progress in both the short and long-term:

In 2026, Manx Tri Club is running an expanded programme of events for the campaign which will include a new competition to the series as well providing meetings for a variety of different ages and abilities.

One of those who's been a part of the growing number taking up the sport is Clara Isaac, who, since starting around two years ago, has now gone on to excel, winning a bronze medal in triathlon at the 2025 Island Games in Orkney.

Looking to the weeks and months ahead, Manx Radio sat down with Clara to find out what's to come in 2026, what's making triathlon more popular and why it's considered a welcoming community for anyone who wants to get involved:

The series, which takes place from Friday, 3 April to Sunday, 5 April will see three races take place across three days with hundreds expected to take part.

What's more, organisers have seen huge demand for this year's meeting with more than 770 pre-entries in total and roughly two-thirds of those involving participants and teams from off-Island.

To find out more about this year's event, we sat down with festival organiser, Chris Quine and Isle of Man athletics correspondent, Dave Griffiths.

They explain what makes this occasion so well sought after and which competitors are possibly the ones to watch out for across the three days

Racing driver, Nickolas Ellis starts another exciting chapter in his career this year when he takes on the Lugier European Series.

What's more, he'll be under the expert guidance of a three-time Le Mans 24 Hour champion for the duration of the campaign.

After stepping back from racing in 2025 to focus on his studies, Ellis now has his sights firmly set on a good season ahead, and - as he's been explaining to Manx Radio - he holds some big ambitions in his sport in the long-term

The Manxman defeated Shamal Ram Anuj at the Thunderdome 53 event at Metro City in Northbridge, Australia to claim the vacant ANBF Australasian Super Featherweight title.

That marked his second title success in less than a year, after also winning the WBC Australasian Silver Super Featherweight Crown in May 2025.

What's more, Rennie remains undefeated in the pro ranks since his debut in 2024 with eight wins from eight, so what's the next step forward in the career of the rising star?

Lizzie Holden recently announced that she was taking the decision to step away from the sport.

The Island athlete is one of multiple examples in recent years to take her abilities from the grassroots level on Manx shores right to the top tier of women's cycling.

The journey has seen her take a British national title, compete regularly on the Women's WorldTour and take part in the Commonwealth Games just to mention a few accolades.

Now, with a chance to reflect on this adventure, she's been speaking to Manx Radio about what her best memories have been in the sport, her decision to retire and also how it feels to be adjusting to a new chapter

Having already excelled in other events throughout the year, one of its star competitors, Hayley Curtis has been adding to the academy's medal tally in Europe in recent weeks.

Of the four representing the Isle of Man there will be three new faces hoping to make an impression in Orkney.

One of those is 20-year-old Teddy Dunn who recently sat down with Manx Radio to discuss the prospect of making his maiden games appearance and what he makes of the chances all of the Manx squad have this year:

Looking to build on three medals at the last games two years ago, it's expected to be long days out on court for the team, singles and doubles events for the ten-strong Isle of Man lineup.

One of the who appeared and was among the medals last time out was Matthew Nicholson, one of those ten which will feature a mix of experience and games debutants in 2025.

Mr Nicholson's been telling Manx Radio how its been getting ready for the hectic yet rewarding experience of the event:

Having initially only been a reserve in the football draw in September 2024, the squad was dramatically instated into the event a few months later in December last year following the withdrawal of Guernsey.

It's been a tight turnaround then for the team but that's not hindered preparations in the eyes of Isle of Man women's team captain, Becky Corkish and manager, Wayne Lisy.

They caught up with Manx Radio recently to tell us about their high ambitions in 2025:

The Isle of Man cycling team claimed six medals in Guernsey two years ago and they're set to mount an assault once again on both the road and mountain bike events.

Rob Sorby is the team's manager and was part of the setup at the previous games.

He's been telling us about their preparations and ambitions for this year:

The number 15 is prominent again this time around - that's the number of swimmers who'll fly the Manx flag this month.

At the heart of the team once more will be team manager, Erica Bellhouse and national team coach, Lee Holland.

Having been crowned champions in Gotland in 2017, the Isle of Man men's football team had a disappointing campaign in 2023 in Guernsey by their standards, finishing ninth.

Caretaker player/manager Chris Bass jnr. sat down with us recently to explain why - above all else - he believes his squad should settle for nothing less than the top prize this summer:

After picking up three bronze medals at the previous event in Guernsey in 2023, the Manx squad will be back in games action with no few than ten athletes - six male and four female - looking to be in the hunt for honours.
