In collaboration with Chris Batcheller from the National Parents Organization, Dr. Sharples co-authored a compelling paper titled "Findings of Abuse in Families Affected by Parental Alienation." 📑 Key Insights: The research reveals a crucial correlation: parents found to have alienated their children were more likely to have a substantiated claim of abuse against them than parents found to have been alienated, irrespective of gender. These findings shed light on the complex dynamics of family court cases involving parental alienation. 🔍 Deeper Analysis: The discussion delves into the implications of these findings, suggesting that alienating parents are more prone to legal and administrative aggression through false abuse allegations. Despite the awareness among judges and third-party experts, such as custody evaluators, action is not consistently taken to deter parents from making these accusations in family court. 🛡️ Protecting the Falsely Accused: The interview emphasizes the need for family courts to recognize false allegations as a form of legal and administrative aggression. Dr. Sharples advocates for appropriate actions to protect the falsely accused party and, most importantly, the children affected by these false claims. 🤝 Balancing Justice: While acknowledging that many claims of abuse may be valid but lack sufficient evidence, Dr. Sharples stresses the importance of setting a high threshold for determining false claims. This approach ensures that parents with genuine concerns and good intentions are not discouraged from coming forward. 👁️‍🗨️ Insightful Conversation: This interview serves as an eye-opening exploration into the intricate dynamics of parental alienation, offering insights that prompt us to rethink our approach to family court proceedings. 🔔 Don't miss out on this important discussion -- subscribe, like, and share to spread awareness! *🔗 References: (15 May 2023) Findings of Abuse in Families Affected by Parental Alienation by Amanda E. The ICC is a dedicated organization working tirelessly to educate parents, lawmakers, and law enforcement about the often-overlooked issue of parental alienation--when one parent creates disruption between a child and the other parent by withholding access. In this eye-opening conversation, Rael Lapenta delves into the IC3's vital mission to bring awareness to the emotional and psychological toll that custody interference inflicts on families. You'll learn about the devastating consequences this behavior can have on children, the non-offending parent, and the broader community. Discover how the IC3 is working to bridge the gap between legal understanding and real-world situations, shedding light on the fact that Custody Interference is not just a family matter but a serious societal issue that can amount to a crime in some jurisdictions. Rachel Wildfeuer is a Research Analyst at CPR and wrote an article featured on the NPO's site on this report.

Policies and Programs Affecting Fathers: A State-by-State Report is a 12-chapter compilation of policies and programs that support the engagement of fathers with their children in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

This groundbreaking FRPN report covers ten areas of public life: child support, child welfare, criminal justice, early childhood, education, employment, family law, food and housing, health and mental health, and responsible fatherhood. In each area, the authors present state-by-state information on the adoption of a variety of policies and programs that have the potential to support parent–child contact and/or remove barriers to parent–child contact that low-income, nonresident fathers face. The report creates a baseline against which future change might be assessed and a guide to supportive state policy options.

A full version of this report is available for download at:

https://www.frpn.org/fatherhood-policy

See Rachel Wildfeuer's NPO blog post at https://www.sharedparenting.org/sharedparentingnews/policies-and-programs-affecting-fathers

CPR website: https://centerforpolicyresearch.org/

CPR LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/center-for-policy-research

FRPN website: https://www.frpn.org/

FRPN Twitter: https://twitter.com/The_FRPN

https://parent-time-podcast.captivate.fm/episode/policies-and-programs-affecting-fathers-a-state-by-state-report

<itunes:image href="https://artwork.captivate.fm/d915e86b-12ad-4766-acb2-4719b4a5d5dd/SYjl9qaTI2jvcd0tZertkD_9.jpg"/>

<itunes:duration>32:02</itunes:duration><itunes:explicit>false</itunes:explicit><itunes:episodeType>full</itunes:episodeType><itunes:season>3</itunes:season><itunes:episode>35</itunes:episode><podcast:episode>35</podcast:episode><podcast:season>3</podcast:season>

Hear from Dr. Sanford Braver about His Pioneering Research in Shared Parenting!
<itunes:title>Hear from Dr. Sanford Braver about His Pioneering Research in Shared Parenting!</itunes:title>

Check out this inspiring interview with Dr. Sanford Braver, Emeritus Professor of Psychology Emeriti at Arizona State University! An In-Depth Interview with Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff</itunes:title>

Today, we’re taking a look at an eye-opening article in the Federalist written by Jay Bhattacharya and Martin Kulldorff: “How Illogical Child Support Rules Can Force Kids Into Poverty.” They are here with us today to talk about their article and the research they have done.

In this alarming piece, Bhattacharya and Kulldorff explain how mathematically flawed child support guidelines can create an unbearable financial burden for parents, ultimately pushing kids into poverty and away from the loving relationship of both their mother and father.

Bhattacharya and Kulldorff begin by pointing out that too often, states are setting child support amounts that are simply impossible to pay. When parents are unable to comply with their child support orders, they often go underground and try to avoid responsibility by taking low-wage jobs that don’t show up on the books. This situation is especially damaging to African American men and their families who already face higher levels of poverty.

Middle-class parents are not immune either; these illogical child support rules can also force them to deplete their savings, retirement funds and college savings. But the issue isn’t that child support payments are too low or too high; instead, it’s that they don’t account for other factors such as parenting time and half-siblings.

The article goes on to explain that the current system was set up by family court lawyers who don’t have a background in mathematics. However, Bhattacharya and Kulldorff do propose a new formula that uses “simple mathematical formulas to reform their state’s child support guidelines.” This can ultimately help children of divorce receive the proper support they need and also maintain a loving relationship with both parents.

To learn more about this issue, check out the full article in the Federalist! It’s essential to recognize how flawed child support guidelines can have devastating effects on children of divorce and take action to ensure that all children receive what is due to them.
