One is by rebranding this podcast. It's been on my mind to do this for awhile now. I've resisted because I feared losing followers. I feared losing the results of hard work I've put in. I've feared upsetting you, the listener.

But, I haven't been giving 100% of myself to you. I've been masking it under the guise of "building a brand." And beginning now, I vow to make that different. I vow to only show up 100% heart wide open... Full Throttle.

I'm showing up differently in my marriage. In my relationships with friends and even strangers.

I'm speaking my truth with grace and from a compassionate place, even if it is uncomfortable. Even if it feels clunky.

Have you ever witnessed your child after a big growth spurt bumping into things or suddenly getting owies? This is normal for anyone who grows even if growth is happening internally.

But, as I mention in the podcast, the more we stay consistent with our plan, the more natural and normal it becomes.

Creating a sense of urgency in an online business often refers to ad copy and creating a sense of urgency for people to make a buying decision. However, today's episode is a mindset Monday episode and we are talking about the mindset of a sense of urgency that some of us lack while others have it on overdrive. Wether you struggle to show up consistently for your business or you feel overwhelmed and over-driven to the point where it is creating imbalance in your life, this episode will help give you strategies you can apply today to start feeling more peaceful.

For listeners who struggle with getting motivated to work on their business I suggest focusing on showing up consistently for a period of 15 days (to start). Offer yourself a reward for being consistent and work towards just being accountable to yourself. Take the pressure off of getting things done and stop focusing on what you haven't done yet which ultimately deflates your motivation levels even more. Instead make a goal to simply show up and work for a dedicated period of time. Make your focus on one project and work on that until your time goal is reached. After a period of 2 weeks set a new goal and possibly increase the hours you'll show up for (if you have them.)

For listeners who have the opposite problems and feel overwhelmed by the sense of urgency they have to work on their business I can relate! This was me for most of my life, especially after losing both of my parents at a young age. I felt like I lived with the grim reaper looking over my shoulder ready to cut my time short any day. Later the sense of urgency came from needing financial stability. In the end, after creating more time and more money, I realized I was still driven by this unrelenting sense of urgency. That is when I discovered the root cause is an addiction to being busy and to feeling a need to complete things.

I learned to switch my focus to the joy of creating and I encourage you to do the same. Part of building a business is the fun of creation and implementing strategies to help it grow. When we damper ourselves with the heaviness of "needing" to get things done, it certainly takes all the fun out of it and puts us in a position to make decisions from a place of panic instead of a creative positive space. To you, my over eager beavers, I say, slow down and reflect on all that you have already done. Take time to be proud of yourself and enjoy each item you build as you work. Practice being present in your business rather than focusing so much on the future and all that is still to be done.

Let's face it, once you get all this done, you'll only find more to do. It's your nature. Instead focus on and congratulate yourself for your consistency and for diligently working towards your goals.

Moving to a log cabin in the woods was not an easy feat. With a family of 7, a non-transferrable career, and no idea how to make it happen my family and I embarked on a mission to live our someday dream life sooner rather than later.

After losing both of my parents before they hit retirement I knew that life is short and there is no guarantee of someday. I couldn't fathom working another 20, 30, or 40 years and THEN getting to live my dream life. I wanted my cake and I wanted to eat it too.

My husband and I made a promise to chase the dream (after ten years of talking about it) and that is when the magic finally started. In fact, there was a specific turning point that later became clear to me was extremely significant to leveraging the power of my will; the free will that God has blessed us all with.

Looking back, I realized there were three specific steps we took to create our dream life. Since then I have tried this formula on other areas of my life. I've manifested a horse (a dream I've had in my heart for years and kept putting off), $10,000 surprise check in the mail, and countless less noteworthy things that make my life simpler!

This is the time of year we are all facing the hustle and bustle of the holidays while a contrasting desire of rest and relaxation calls forth from within. Winter has a way of showing us how much we long for freedom and flexibility in life.

Whether it's financially having the means to provide an excellent Christmas, or time flexibility that allows us to travel and enjoy Holiday events without having to maintain the pressures of work.

We know passive income is the solution that meets both of these demands.

But, where is the best place to start when we feel shackled by time and money.

Today's episode outlines three ways to simplify passive income in your life.

1- Get clear on a topic and find ways to create multiple streams of income around that topic.

2- Commit to the process. Try is the lowest form of commitment, you need to be 100% in the game to see success.

3- Be consistent. Commit to your plan for 1 year and consistently take action in that year to see real results.

Things to avoid:

Avoid the desire to chase passive income streams that appear lucrative (but don't really seem interesting).
Avoid switching plans frequently. Find one thing and stick with it.
Avoid building passive income around topics that are not interesting to you.

To truly build a freedom lifestyle it's imperative we build a business that doesn't feel like work when we work it. Don't be fooled into thinking that if you only had to do something for 5 hours a week, even if you don't love it, you could do it. Time and again this has been proven wrong.

Even Neil Patel spoke about this in a YouTube video he did. He built a passive income stream based on fitness and health, but doesn't even like that topic. Even though he made hundreds of thousands of dollars, it eventually faded away and was replaced with what he does love... marketing.

Founder of Blogger Evolution Chris Myles joins the Passive Income Examiner to share his journey of going from working full time to creating a fully passive lifestyle via niche blogging which leverages strategic affiliate marketing.

Chris is a very down-to-earth easy to understand guest who does a great job of explaining his strategy in a fully digestible way.

When he and his wife discovered they were pregnant with their first child his wife shared with him how she wanted to become a stay-at-home mom. In order for her to have that experience she leaned on Chris to find a way to replace her income.

After being a chronic side hustler, he buckled down and put all of his focus into niche blogging. Once focuses he was able to replace his wife's income in only 18 months and soon after replaced his own.

Now, Chris and his family live a very different life from the one they lived before his son was born. Things that are different in his life are:

Going to the grocery store in the middle of the day, when hardly anyone else is there
Solving problems around the house when they come up like the day a pillow exploded in their dryer. (LOL)
Spending time with his son Benji and making quality memories.
Spending time with his wife and nurturing their relationship.

In addition to living a freedom lifestyle, he helps other working parents escape the rat race by teaching them how to create a profitable blog with an emphasis on organic strategies and not on paid ads to drive traffic!

Chris also has a podcast called Blogger Evolution where he gives to-the-point valuable suggestions and content that is very helpful.

I've been podcasting for 2 years now and when I started I built my system based on what my podcast coach recommended. As time has gone on, I've longed to automate and cut the time I spend podcasting down without limiting the number of episodes I produce.

I made it my mission to automate my podcasting experience as much as possible so that I can limit the amount of outsourcing required and make my life easier.

If you are podcasting or are considering starting a podcast this episode will be very helpful to give you a comparison between Podbean and Captivate. I used Podbean for nearly two years and only began researching other hosting platforms to find out what newer more advanced tech was out there. I never knew I'd find a platform as robust and easy to use as Captivate.

Switching my hosting platform was very easy. Although I was concerned that it would be problematic and stressed about the transfer... Captivate pulled my episodes over easily. Uploading new episodes is simple too. I love how the system walks me through important steps of adding elements to my episode that will improve show growth and listener experience. Podbean offered some of the same features, but it was in the "Advanced" section which is an easily overlooked expandable menu.

Captivate.fm saves me time by:

Pulling audio from Descript where I transcribe episodes and sometimes record them. This avoids a export / import situation.
Guest can book with me through the platform and then the show notes will easily pull their information over. (I have not used this yet, but plan too very soon.)
Captivate has a 1 - click syndication button that allowed me to connect my podcast with roughly 80% of podcast players with 1 click. The remaining 20% required the usual set ups which Captivate made super simple.
My RSS feed link is at the top of almost every page which cut time for me playing hide-and-seek with the link as I was doing with Podbean.
The Captivate.fm website is Amazing! It looks beautiful and is easy to navigate. This was a HUGE reason why I moved from Podbean. I didn't like their website at all.
I use the Captivate website as a blog, so each of my episode show notes is now written in 'blog' style so that I don't have to recreate the post on my primary domain www.thepassiveincomeexaminer.com. (PS, you don't have to have a third party and could get by with just using captivate.fm if you wanted too. It also integrates with WordPress.)
I have the Captivate podcast player framed in on my primary domain so people can listen on either site.
Helps me write robust and dynamic show notes with ease with its show notes templates and block templates. You can have as many templates as you'd like. Blocks help when you want to add a paragraph of content to each show note, without having to type it each time. Like this...

In this episode, Lindsay reveals how to unveil the Tricky Rules you are living by and how to transform them into new ideas that further your growth.

We all have rules we live by. Some are much less significant than others. And some we did not even invent on our own, they may have been inherited beliefs instilled by our well-meaning parents, teachers, or other adults of influence.

Consider these common rules I hear from mothers.

"I can't go to bed with a dirty kitchen."

"I must make my bed every morning."

"I must marry a man that makes a good living."

You see, many of these types of rules don't keep us stuck and were likely ingrained in us from childhood.

However, there are much spookier rules that we subscribe to day in and day out, often unknowingly.

Consider these rules,

"I must work hard to make money."

"I am not good at technology."

"I can't write a book until I have my course created."

"I need to be certified before I can start charging for what I know."

When we take an honest look at our lives, it is guaranteed, that in any area of our life where we feel unfulfilled, underperforming, or frustrated, we have a verbal script running through our mind that is blocking us from success. The script is some sort of a rule we THINK we have to follow.

Today, I challenge you to break your rules, and start imaging the possibility of your life without subscribing to what you have believed is a fact thus far. How could your life change if you believed you could lose weight easily, or could find true love, or could (You fill in the blank.)

It is on each of us to take an honest account of the rules we are living by and simply consider the possibility of shifting in the direction we want to go.

By changing our focus from the rules we have devoted ourselves to, to shining a light on what could be, we unlock the door of possibility and allow magic to work in our lives.

Today, listen to this episode, then pick one rule you intend to break. Treat yourself this Halloween, to being a positive force in your life. Treat yourself by choosing to think differently about what you are capable of. Treat yourself by challenging your long-standing belief systems.

Crypto farming and crypto mining are not the same thing. Crypto mining is essentially the actual mining of block chain which requires massively powerful computers and a lot of techy set-ups. Crypto Farming, on the other hand, does not require this cumbersome set up. Think of crypto farming like investing in a mining operation without having to do any of the mining... like owning a gold mine, not being the miner.

When an investor offers a crypto fund liquidity by investing in the operation, they are rewarded by daily payouts. Those daily payouts can be harvested, or cashed out, OR can be reinvested back into the project to create compounded returns. Leveraging the rule of 72, one could invest $5000 and let the proceeds continue building on themselves and essentially double their money every year. However, some farms perform even more strongly than the Rule of 72 and some investors are netting a more than 100% return on their money.

The world of defi is an interesting one that can also seem scary. I've been really grateful to have Josh guiding us, helping us learn where to get accurate information, and he has held our hand as we have begun our crypto investing journey.

Do you set goals? Have you subscribed to the adage, "Reach for the stars and land on the moon?" Guest Julie Holly shares how this mindset simply sets us up to experience failure which is not a promising outlook and explains why many people either don't set goals or don't achieve them. Instead, she advocates setting challenging yet achievable goals and walks us through how she does that in today's mindset episode.

Setting goals is a very important step in life and in entrepreneurship. People who set goals, track their progress and review their goals regularly are far more successful that people who don't.

Well-meaning individuals often set goals but are missing some key fundamentals. Julie demonstrates how having clarity about your "Why" and knowing "Who" you are is step one. Before goals are even set, one must identify what is motivating them and who they are to ensure the goals align with the person. In short, make goals that are for you and not to impress others or to serve another agenda.

The second step to creating achievable goals is to be very specific about how your life will look in every area once the goals are achieved. Then break down the 'how to' steps and even plug in deadlines for the goals.

Referring to the vision daily, the way you want your life to look once the goals are accomplished will ultimately play a significant role in how successful you are with your goals.

Areas of your life to set goals in expand beyond business and financial goals. Personal relationships with Self, spouses, and children are important. As are fitness goals, impact goals, and spiritual goals. When we are approaching goal setting holistically all areas of our life will level up and ultimately create a more joyful experience.

For clarification, impact goals, are goals about what impact you want to make on the world around you. Julie refers to them as community goals.

What should I do with my passive income?

Wondering what you should do with your passive income? Today's episode outlines a strategy to take you from earning active income through building legacy wealth that can be passed on to your heirs.

Passive Income is income earned with little to no effort, often from investing time or money that works for you and generates a monetary return. Whereas, active income is earned by 'actively' working for it; such as, performing at a job or providing a service.

Passive income is sought after because it gives people a chance to earn money while also freeing up their time so they can spend it doing things they love.

If you are working in a W2 or own your own business that is draining your time and energy, passive income is a great way to develop a freedom lifestyle.

I was able to quit my job when my husband and I began saving money each month. We were smart about it, though, and didn't just stick our money in a savings account, we put our investment in an asset that appreciated which doubled over time and exponentially helped us.

If I would have had more time and education, I would have deployed some of those assets into passive strategies, but at the time, I did not have the education I do now.

If I could go back and redo my exit plan knowing what I know today, I would have invested in passive strategies because a year after moving I was again in a W2 situation.

This is why I recommend the second step of the process be to diversify your investment into passive strategies. If you are just getting started and would like an overview of passive income ideas text the word 'PIE' to 33777 to get your copy of 5 Ways to Earn $5K / month with Passive Income.

Sometimes, it's easier to find one strategy to focus on that replaces your income, but I strongly encourage you to expand from there.

I like to build micro-businesses. Essentially, each passive project I build is it's own micro-business that I use to diversify my income. To me, this is very important because I don't like to put all my eggs in one basket just in case something fails.

The last step is to build legacy wealth. There are a few ways to do this, but one important one is to invest in Real Estate. (Especially if you're in the US)

We can get stuck in a rut by doing this because it is so easy to go through the motions, focus on the day ahead, and the day after that... and quickly lose sight of the big dream and big mission you have in your heart.

I can remember many times having a horrible day, feeling like everything just was piling up on me, forcing me to long for change. For many years our log cabin dream was just that, a dream. An idea we would pull off the shelf and discuss on these "bad days." Sometimes, I would look back and think, wow it's been almost a year since we last talked about this because time moved quickly when I was focusing on the day ahead rather than my big plan.

Today's episode asks you to dig deep within yourself and be honest, would you rather play the long game, the game that involves going to work and retiring after a 20 + year career or would you rather take a small risk in yourself and give it a real shot at retiring sooner?

Sometimes, even though we would RATHER take option B, to retire sooner, we allow ourselves to stay stuck in the rut that leads to option A.

I believe imposter syndrome happens because we set a place in our minds and call it "there" and until we get "there" we decide we don't have what it takes to reach our goal, make the impact we want, or produce the very thing we excel at.

8 months into a passive online business is a feat to be proud of for anyone, but often when we budding entrepreneurs get started it is easy to get discouraged or knocked off course. It is all to easy to compare ourselves to others and get caught up in shiny object syndrome! (I'm totally guilty of this!)

That is why I feel it is so important to share my journey to building an online business with you in all its rawness in hopes that you can have a true perspective of what it is like and to document my journey so I can celebrate my successes later with you.
