Ok, so the patriarchy may hate women, but capitalism surely loves us! From the “pink tax” to unpaid work, women contribute heavily to the US economy. Without our labor or targeted marketing, the US would not sustain itself. Up to 75% of caregivers are women, and men make up around 50% of those who need caregiving. From grocery shopping, gas, daycare, doctor appointments, and more, unpaid work contributes immensely to the economy. It is not only US residents, but immigrant women are experiencing the same, if not more, disrespect and lack of recognition. Society continues to make women feel guilty for insisting to be treated like human beings.

White supremacy has tried to negatively shape those identities for POC but we know who we are, and we’re reclaiming our moments in time. It is time for empathy and an acknowledgement of all the wrongdoing in American history.

Stop equating bad health and wellness with plus-sized women. If a plus-sized woman comes in with a broken arm, it does not relate to her weight. However, a large number of physicians and medical care professionals, are extremely dismissive of plus-sized people and their ailments. No one talks about the possibilities of underlying issues that might affect one’s weight and body structure. Instead of criticizing the individual person, take a look at how the US is using its citizens to increase its economy. Is expecting a doctor to have good bedside manners a thing of the past…?

Why are we so sensitive regarding salaries? Yes, not talking about salaries is definitely rooted in white supremacy. Not talking about salaries allows the poor and middle classes to stay within their “box” and continues to prolong the pay gap. Similarly, just as policing is about controlling POC, the pay gap is also about controlling POC. Later in the episode, they’ll discuss how the color of your hair has nothing to do with your level of professionalism, and why the workplace needs to be less stuffy, less white.
