So, Kelsey and I are pretty sad right now. We lost the Vivienne… David Lynch… and we’re still wounded from the devastation in California.

We all deserve a little comfort right now, and that’s what this list is all about. I needed to hear my best friend’s voice, so I called her free-handed from my car, hence the less than desirable audio. Kelsey and I list our top five most refreshing films, regardless of the genre. From “The Little Mermaid” to “Black Swan,” you may be surprised by what you hear. Stay proud to be queer, and if you imbibe, crack open a beer. Take a little time in the New Year to rewatch the movies that make everything alright again.

We're honored to be joined by team members Gail Cronauer (@gailcronauer), Tiffany Vollmer (@theogbulma), and Lisa Dalton (www.lisadalton.com), all of whom offer empowerment, promotion, and mentorship for those who are lucky enough to work with them. It's officially Pride Month TO-FREAKING-OUT-DAY! We can think of no better occasion to release an episode all about being proud to be queer. It was an honor and privilege to sit down with two people who really put in the work to help LGBTQ youth and beyond. Percy and Amanda, two key figures with "Real Live Connection," are championing many exciting events for the fast approaching "Teen Pride" celebration this upcoming weekend. On June 4th and 5th, there will be drag shows, interview panels, makeup tutorials, and so much more. This is a unique space where minors can find a safe-space connection that encourages building better connections, not only with others, but within themselves as well. You and I may take seeing someone as dynamite as Kennedy Davenport live for granted, but many uniquely queer spaces don't accept minors. "Teen Pride" is really about facilitating many aspects of queer life without the inclusion of alcohol. No matter how old you are, you'll likely learn a lot about gender and orientation expression if you join us for all the fun. This isn't Pride-Cola Zero either. The young ones are alright! Actually, they're more than alright. They're incredible! Exemplifying all that is awesome when it comes to queer life for minors is my new friend Erick. He creates hilarious videos on TikTok and is unafraid to express his bold side, no matter who may object to his unabashed voice. It was inspiring to hear how someone so young could be so confident, and yet, this energetic influencer was up front about how hard it is to battle depression. People of all ages and orientations fight for their mental health on a daily basis, and its people like Erick who win this battle, not only for themselves, but for their struggling peers as well.

You're never too young to make a difference, and Erick has only begun his journey towards making a difference in the lgbtq community. If you haven't taken the opportunity to pause and reflect on what an inquisitive teenager has to say in a while, then I encourage you to do so right the heckie now!

Being a Fan of Stefan Newman and "Queer Factor": Queer Comedy

In case you didn't know, the "first act" of our Q2Q Film Festival is a live event featuring many of the most talented and hilarious lgbtq folks in Dallas and beyond. Many of them do comedy, and one such chuckle box of a unicorn is with me today, Stefan Newman of Queer Factor acclaim. And speaking of this under the rainbow event, it's this St. Patrick's Gay at 9PM Central, so the golden pot hasn't been emptied... Unless you're listening to this after the show already debuted, that is.

No worries though! Luckily for you, Stefan is a performer booking more and more gigs. He's a comedian, improv guru, professional "reader," and keeper of secrets. The only way you'll find out if he reveals any is to download this episode now. Comedy takes real strength, and this sweet peach doesn't bruise easily. One thing that comes across from Stefan is how confident he is, and I was inspired to work on a sitcom outline after our conversation wrapped.
