In my conversation with Amelie Hemberger, we talk about what it really looks like to hold onto ambition while stepping into this new chapter. She shares how her identity evolved after having children, and how she learned to honor both her role as a mother and her desire to keep building something of her own.

Amelie opens up about the internal and external pressures to “choose” between family and career, and how she decided to carve out a path that feels aligned instead. Through creating Lumira, a platform designed to bring mothers together in honest and meaningful ways, she’s building the kind of community she once needed. This conversation is about trusting yourself, embracing reinvention, and giving yourself permission to grow in more than one direction at once.

Key Takeaways

You don’t have to follow a traditional path to create a fulfilling balance between work and family

Building something meaningful often comes from recognizing what’s missing in your own experience

Growth in motherhood can expand your vision rather than limit it

Alignment matters more than external validation when making life and career decisions

About the Guest:

Amelie Hemberger is a mother of two, event expert, and the founder of Luamira, a live virtual platform that helps women, especially mothers, reconnect with themselves through meaningful evening experiences. Alongside building Luamira, she continues to work in marketing and communication, bringing her experience from both corporate and entrepreneurial worlds into everything she creates.

After more than 15 years of designing events around the world, from Buenos Aires to Kyoto, and now living between Germany and France, her life shifted into a very different rhythm. Evenings became quieter, often spent at home after long days with her children. While she deeply values motherhood, she also felt something many women experience but rarely put into words. The longing for inspiration, for real conversations, and for a sense of self beyond everyday roles.

Luamira was born from that moment. A simple question. What if evenings at home could become something more again.

Today, Amelie creates live, intimate spaces where women can pause, reflect, exchange, and rediscover parts of themselves that often get lost in the busyness of daily life. No pressure, no performance, just real moments of connection from their own living rooms.

Her work is rooted in the belief that mothers don’t need more to consume, but spaces where they can feel present, inspired, and seen. With her global experience and her own journey into motherhood, she is quietly reshaping what evenings can look and feel like.

www.luamira.com

About The Host:

Dr. Christelle Oliver-Dussault is a family physician with a clinical focus on aesthetic medicine, women’s health, and psycho-education.

From her early days in Dublin to building a career as a fertility nurse in London, she had spent years supporting others on their journey to parenthood—while feeling unsure about whether motherhood was truly for her. Ultimately, she chose motherhood believing that regret might weigh heavier than fear. What followed was far more complex than she expected.

We talk honestly about the shock of sleep deprivation, the emotional tug-of-war of returning to work part-time, and the internal split between professional identity and maternal instinct. Shelley also shares the terrifying chapter of her daughter’s meningitis diagnosis and hospital stay, layered on top of caring for another sick family member. Through it all, she reflects on losing pieces of herself, learning to ask for help, and redefining what strength really looks like. This conversation is a raw look at modern motherhood, working motherhood, maternal mental health, and the courage it takes to prioritize self-care without guilt.

Key Takeaways

Anticipatory regret can shape major life decisions, especially around motherhood.

Career identity and maternal identity don’t compete—they require intentional integration.

Crisis moments reveal the gaps in support systems and the importance of community care.

Self-compassion is a skill mothers must actively practice, not something that comes automatically.

About the Guest:

Clinical nurse specialist, working Mum to a 6 year and 2 year old. Jenny shares how her worries around health intensified after motherhood, shifting from occasional concern to intrusive, obsessive thoughts that were hard to shut off. Suddenly, small things felt catastrophic, and the weight of responsibility for her family made everything feel more fragile.

Together, we explore how becoming a mother can heighten awareness of mortality, deepen fear, and completely change the way we think about our bodies and our lives. Jenny reflects on how loving her family so deeply shaped her anxiety but also her appreciation for life. This conversation is about naming the fear without judgment, understanding why it shows up, and reminding ourselves that we are not broken for feeling this way. Awareness, compassion, and support matter specially when anxiety tries to take over.

Key Takeaways

Motherhood can amplify underlying anxiety in ways that feel sudden and overwhelming

Obsessive thoughts often stem from love and responsibility, not weakness

Fear can coexist with gratitude, appreciation, and deep connection

Talking openly about anxiety reduces shame and creates space for support

About The Host:

Dr. Christelle Oliver-Dussault is a family physician with a clinical focus on aesthetic medicine, women’s health, and psycho-education. Together, we unpack the grief, loss, and self-discovery that so many mothers experience as they try to reconcile who they were before motherhood with who they are becoming.

Jaime shares candidly what it was like to crawl out of the trenches of early motherhood after years of darkness, and how she is only now beginning to feel her “pink” return. She challenges the idea of work-life balance, offering a more compassionate perspective—one that recognizes life, motherhood, and work as ever-evolving. We talk about how the pressure to “find balance” often fuels self-judgment and reinforces the false belief that mothers should have it all figured out.

Through both her lived experience and professional lens, Jaime opens up about the healing practices, mindset shifts, and hormonal insights that supported her reconnection with herself. This conversation is raw, honest, and deeply relatable for any mother navigating identity loss, grief, and the slow, courageous journey back to herself.

Key Takeaways

Feeling disoriented after becoming a mother is a common and valid experience

Identity can expand through motherhood instead of needing to be “found” again

Acknowledging grief around change can create space for healing and clarity

Personal growth often begins when we stop resisting who we are becoming

About the Guest:

Jaime Hawryluk is a registered palliative care nurse and certified functional hormone specialist.

Sara is a mother of three who speaks candidly about the realities of motherhood, identity loss, and the invisible labour women carry. Through her lived experience, she shares a grounded and deeply relatable perspective on burnout, self-reconnection, and learning to listen to the body’s cues.

Sara reflects on her transition into motherhood and how it shifted her sense of identity, priorities, and capacity. Together, we explore the pressure many women feel to hold everything together, even when they are running on empty. Our conversation moves through the emotional layers of motherhood — losing parts of yourself, adapting to constant change, and redefining what self-care looks like in real life.

She speaks openly about letting go of perfection, asking for help, and finding rhythms that support her wellbeing rather than deplete it. Her story reflects the quiet strength of mothers navigating life in the thick of it, finding meaning not in perfection, but in presence, self-trust, and small moments of joy. This episode is a reminder that motherhood is not about having it all figured out, but about giving yourself permission to evolve, rest, and be supported along the way.

Key Takeaways

Adaptability is a skill that grows through motherhood, not a sign of instability

Letting go of comparison creates space for self-trust and confidence

Sustainable routines matter more than short bursts of motivation

Support systems don’t have to be big to be meaningful — they just have to be honest

About the Guest:

Sara is a graphic designer and mother of three currently on a “power pause” — a season of life dedicated to raising her children while redefining her relationship with work, identity, and self. In each episode, I sit down with one guest to explore who she was before becoming a mother, her transition through motherhood, how her identity shifted, the challenges she faced, and what helped her navigate the change. Together, we talk about her ongoing struggles and triumphs, allowing the conversation to unfold naturally. The goal is to create a collective narrative — a tapestry of stories woven together through honesty, vulnerability, and connection. Through shared experiences, we hope to remind women of their worth, celebrate their resilience, and encourage them to rediscover their vibrant, powerful selves. This podcast is about reclaiming identity, reconnecting with who we are beyond the roles we play, and rebuilding the village we’ve lost. One story, one conversation, one woman at a time.

About The Host:

Dr. Christelle Oliver-Dussault is a family physician with a clinical focus on aesthetic medicine, women’s health, and psycho-education.

Her work is grounded in a holistic, whole-person approach that integrates medical science with a deep appreciation of the mind–body connection. Alongside her clinical practice, she is deeply committed to medical education and mentors the next generation of family physicians through her work with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of British Columbia.

She is the founder of Reclaim The Pink Within, a community created to support women through life’s most profound transitions. This project was born from personal experience. After becoming a mother, Dr. Oliver-Dussault became aware of a quiet but profound shift in her sense of self, one she had long observed in her patients, yet only fully understood once she lived it herself. What had once been a clinical observation became a deeply personal insight, shaping the lens through which she now supports and guides other women.

You can connect with her on Instagram at @drchristellemd and @reclaimthepinkwithin

Website: www.getyourpinkbackproject.com

Email: info@reclaimthepinkwithin.com

Medical Disclaimer

The Reclaim The Pink Within podcast is intended for educational and informational purposes only.
