Research has shown that relationship-building skills have myriad applications in school and far beyond. They help people foster friendships, increase their self-confidence, improve their coping skills, and learn how to handle conflict constructively. Relationship-building involves the ability to establish and maintain healthy and rewarding relationships with diverse individuals and groups. It also includes the abilities to communicate clearly, listen well, cooperate with others, resist inappropriate peer pressure, and seek and offer help when needed. In this Unit, students will learn about and work to establish foundational relationship-building skills.
