This is your GM Trevor. Unfortunately, we came across some troubling statements on a recent Reddit post regarding our show that stemmed from a cast member's interest in a controversial film currently in theaters. The cast wasn't aware of the breadth or content of the filmmaker's past work, other than  that he is a controversial right-wing figure. This has been unfortunately seen as an approval of the filmmaker's hateful statements and by extension a statement regarding our positions on the LGBTQ community at large, and the trans community specifically.

I want to be clear that on no uncertain terms, Roll for Intent and our production company stand against bigotry  and hate speech in every form.  We have from day one striven to provide an open atmosphere that would encourage anyone to pull up a chair and join our table.  All of us have been players and game masters for years and would never want anyone to feel uncomfortable when sitting next to us sharing our stories.

We took this week to reflect on how to respond, and how to address issues like this going forward.  I have to admit, this is a problem that we never expected to have, given the general political beliefs of the cast which we have been regularly open about both on the show and in our discord , and so it was important for us all to discuss it and figure out how we could do a better job of maintaining that open, welcoming atmosphere that we really want to portray with our show, with the interactions with our listeners, and with the general gaming community at large.

Special Announcement - Temporary Show Hiatus

Hey podcast listener - it’s your GM Trevor with some, let’s face it, less than ideal news.

Effective today, Roll For Intent is going on hiatus for a few weeks.  Unfortunately with the combination of work travel for the cast, my move, and several tech issues that have plagued our traveling remote recordings, we’ve made the difficult decision to pause show releases for the next 12-16 weeks. 

I know, that’s a wide range, but it’s meant to be.  I don’t want to promise something I can’t deliver, and then have to make another set of changes to the original plan. 

During this “downtime” we’re going to be working on bringing our backlog of recorded content back to our original 6-8 episode runway, and we’re workshopping some new non-pathfinder content that may end up being a new show - we’ll see how it turns out.

Currently, our recording schedule shall be unaffected, we continue to have Tuesday and (some) Thursday nights on the books to continue generating content - the issue is that I’m unable to maintain the production schedule, as I need to use a workstation in my home for licensing reasons.  THis means that even though I have a mobile recording setup that works phenomenally when the internet cooperates, it vastly abbreviates the amount of time I have to actually produce the show to weekends only….weekends that are currently occupied by home repairs, packing, and planning a cross-country move, while also trying to spend time with my family.

SO please bear with us - we are 100% committed still to finish this AP, and maybe move on into the future with other Pathfinder content - but I want to make sure you know we aren’t abandoning our stories, and we aren’t abandoning you.

I’ll be releasing these periodically to give you updates on our progress, or you can come to our discord at https://rollforintent.com/discord, and get it straight from the horse’s mouth.

Thanks everyone for sticking with us through the past 2 and a half years, and I hope you can tolerate this slight interruption in content generation while I do my best to prepare my family for this new adventure set before us.

At any rate, the holidays were super busy for the cast this year and we got a little behind, so we're pulling something out of the vault. Jason started his journey with TTRPGs in 1998 with a homebrew system and campaign with a few friends. He soon moved on to D&D 3e, 3.5e, and even dabbled in a bit of 4e. It was in 4e that he first took the seat in the GM’s chair and has seldom left it since. He grabbed ahold of Pathfinder 1st Edition at launch, and kept going until 2e released with some minor dabbling in CoC, DBZ, Star Wars, MechWarrior, Shadowrun, and Starfinder. Jason has two named credits with Paizo for monster creation in Shattered Star and Wrath of the Righteous. Jason started Called Shots Entertainment with his first episode drop in July 2019, with his first bit of Actual Play content starting in November 2019. Called Shots Entertainment is active on Twitch and Youtube in addition to their podcast content.
