However, sadly, his work of art was destined never to be acclaimed as such.

After years of being passed around from the flower show, church jumble sale, an old antique shop window and finally the dust cart, Gearoni Industriano finally ended up being tossed unceremoniously into the river, almost sinking a passing canoist!

You can only imagine Sprocket and Pinion's relief on finally finding sanctuary in Morris Wainwright's scrap box with Rusty and the others.

Join Barry as he tells the remarkable tale of an old butcher's bicycle, a disastrous delivery with sausages and pork chops flying in every direction, an eccentric sculptor, and a mysterious work of art called Gearoni Industriano.

It's a story packed with laughter, unlikely adventures and unexpected twists that begins many years before the friends ever arrived in Morris Wainwright's garden shed.

A gentle, imaginative tale full of quirky characters, warm humour and the first part in the story of how two forgotten pieces of machinery discovered that every old thing still has a place in the world.

Following the railway tracks seems to be the obvious answer, especially when Peter is convinced that the tracks must lead them straight to the sea. But as darkness falls, the travellers take shelter in a mysterious railway tunnel, where they meet a rather helpful rat and discover that there may be a much easier way to continue their journey.

Unfortunately, travelling by train isn't quite as straightforward as they had hoped. There are noisy locomotives to avoid, a handcart that doesn't survive the journey, and an unexpected plan involving the railway station and some rather unusual luggage.

Will they make it onto the train to the seaside? And just what will they have to share their carriage with? Join Rusty, Sprocket, Peter and the others for the second part of The Wind of Change — The Journey into the Unknown.

Winter has arrived in the old shed, and Rusty Nail and her friends are facing some very unwelcome news. Morris Wainwright has gone, his house is about to be demolished, and a huge new bypass is going to be built right where their old home stands. With the bulldozer already waiting on the lawn, there is no time to waste. Rusty decides that they must leave before the shed is destroyed — but where can they go?

Then Sprocket discovers something that could change everything: a map of England showing a row of beach huts beside the sea. And so begins a brand-new adventure…

Can Rusty, Sprocket, Peter Verny, Young Pinion, Springaling and the Two-faced Nut make the long journey to the seaside? Will Peter manage to keep up? And what will they find when they finally reach the coast?

Meanwhile, leaving their old shed behind proves much harder than they expected. The Wind of Change is a gentle and sometimes poignant story about friendship, loss, new beginnings and finding the courage to move on when life suddenly changes around you. Join Rusty Nail and all her friends as they set off on their next great adventure. 🌿
