Kellie started her career in interior design 20 years ago and has enjoyed some really incredible milestones during the early years of her career. Through a homewares store she owned her work was featured in magazines and saw her build so many beautiful relationships in the industry.

When she closed that store to be more present with her boys, kellie took a step back from working full time in interiors and has been through quite a big life shift during that time as well.

So now, she is starting again in a fresh new chapter and she shares how that looks for her, what she is doing differently and how she is navigating a marriage breakdown and building her interiors business and life again.

We chat about finding your unique special sauce and what makes your interiors business different, how life throws you curveballs and you just have to roll with it to get through it and what starting all over again looks like for her in her business.

For over two decades, I’ve dreamed of owning a home with water views — a place I could see my family gathered, my grandchildren running around, and me sitting back in a deck chair soaking it all in. This vision lived on my vision board for more than 10 years, written in my journals, and even visited in my dreams. But for a long time, I was stuck in the “how.” I thought I had to figure it all out myself, and in doing so, I believe I was blocking it from happening.

When I finally leaned into manifestation, let go of the how, and trusted the timing, everything shifted. We sold our home in Gymea Bay with the goal to diversify our assets, renovate, and build equity. It’s not just about creating our dream home — it’s about creating opportunities for the future, including flipping homes with our boys. This is the story of believing it’s yours long before it arrives.

Creating a Dreamy Destination at Orchards Nest, Tasmania

In today’s episode we step inside the story of Esther and Matthew, a married couple from Huon Valley in Southern Tasmania. Their home @orchards_nest is nestled high on a hill overlooking rolling green hills and apple and cherry orchards, Mathew is a 6th generation apple and cheery farmer

Being only a 30 minute drive from Hobart it is the perfect destination if you are travelling Tasmania. With a steamy hottub that overlooks the magnificent view, the privacy of the bush and the twinkling star it sounds like it’s too good to be true.

The Art of Great Customer Service at the Old Schoolhouse Milton

It was such a pleasure to meet Jenny Paul this week, host and owner of The Old Schoolhouse in Milton. Couples accommodation located just 4km from Milton and set on 2.5 acres of tranquil lawns and orchard with views in all directions.

The main homestead is the heart of this rambling property. It has all the trappings of a rural property with a productive vegetable garden and orchard, and chooks that wander throughout the grounds. Guests at Old Schoolhouse Milton are free to wander around the gardens and orchard and delight in picking fruit straight from the tree and collecting fresh laid eggs for their breakfast.

Jenny has mastered the art of great customer service. From offering her guest fresh laid eggs and homemade jam to even dropping them off at the local restaurant if they want to have a drink. Nothing is too much trouble! It is all about making her guests happy and enjoy their stay and what Jenny has created in the Old Schoolhouse is a testament to her.

Renting Your Home while Travelling Australia with Leah Bailey from Isle at Mudjimbah Beach.

This week I have a really special spin on the holiday home rental. Leah Bailey and her partner, offer their own home for short term holiday letting. They both own a photography business which operates Australia wide so spend most of the year travelling. While they travel, they rent their gorgeous home to holidayers to enjoy. Their home, Isle is located in beautiful Mudjimba on the Sunshine Coast and is perfect for both families and groups of friends. It is only a short walk from the beach and opposite the Northshore conservation area.

Leah is a local and grew up close to the beach which instilled a true love for everything the coast has to offer and has given her such respect for the place they call home. They love exploring and travelling for their work but love coming home to Isle to stay, which is always a treat.

I really enjoyed learning about this lifestyle that Leah lives and hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did.

Building a Modern Holiday Home in the Historical Town of Beechworth.

This week I chat to Tamara who is the owner of John and Janes Beechworth in Victoria. Tamara has a love for architecture, design, and the build process as well as exploring and holidaying so creating John and Janes at Beechworth was perfect for her. They were finding it difficult to find the perfect getaway for their growing family, so decided why not build one instead, in a town they loved and where their good friends lived - Beechworth has a vast array of good Wine, food, beer, walking trails, bike riding, a rich history, beautiful architecture and so much more. All of this makes Beechworth the perfect getaway destination.

The John and Janes are two separate buildings on the one property - One called Johns in dark moody colours and one called Janes a lighter and brighter aesthetic, allowing Tamara to have some fun with design and colour. They were placed and designed by their architect around two gorgeous existing palm trees on the property.

Tamara shares her journey around the build and design of the holiday property and how much she is enjoying her new role of hosting the property.

I like to start of the sourcing process of my interiors with artwork.

Choosing an artwork for your space is a key part of creating the interiors vibe and feel of the entire space and sometimes even the entire home.

Using the colours, vibe and style of the artwork allows you to use that to tell a story and bring those features into your styling and throughout your space.

Renovating a 1970’s Motel into a Gorgeous Hotel with Sarah from Crystal Pacific Palm Beach

I had the pleasure of interviewing Sarah, who is the owner, with her partner Luke, of Crystal Pacific. This a completely redesigned original 1970s building located in the beautiful beachside suburb of Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. Sarah is a mum to two young daughters and loves the beach, travel, a long lunch with her girlfriends and spending slow days with the family.

Hear how this couple aquired one room at a time and eventually owned all 6 of them, which is when they gutted the whole thing and built their beautiful boutique hotel Crystal Pacific. Sarah shares her process in the design and styling along with some great tips for anyone who is thinking about starting their own holiday stay business.

With kmart, ikea, target, bunnings and spotlight all offering some pretty cool and decent pieces from furniture to accessories there really is no reason why all holiday home owners can’t spend some time and a little investment into elevating the interiors of their spaces.

I have put together 12 things to consider when you are elevating the interiors of your holiday home when you are on a budget.

And remember, there is always a place for budget accommodation options so don’t stress if you can’t afford the high end finishes. As long as you have put in some love and attention to your home thinking about your guests comfort and experience (and cleanliness) it is a win/win!

Creating your Interiors Vision - Part Two

This week we dive into the fun part of creating your interiors vision or inspiration board for your holiday home or home. I will share the way I teach my students and how I work with my clients to get clear on how we want our interiors space to look at the end.

Start saving images on Pinterest or Instagram that you love for the space and what evokes an emotional reaction in you.
Edit your boards and take out anything that doesn’t quite work in with the theme and vibe.
Evaluate your boards and make a list of the dominant colours, repeating patterns, what sort of timber colours you like etc - get my free checklist to download in below.
Screen shot each board and keep it with you when you go shopping!

This is going to become your compass for your interiors vision and dream space and help you to stay on track and not make any impulsive, expensive decisions.

Here are the first 7 things to consider when you are about to start creating an interiors vision for your holiday home. I will share the final steps in Episode 6 - Part Two

What have you got to work with? What style of house is it? What special features do you have? What is staying and what needs to go. What is your budget?
Where is the property located?
Who is your target market?
Is it high-end luxury accommodation or budget accommodation
What is the style or the vibe you would like to inject?
How do you want your home to feel?
What is the functionality of the space?

Keep this handy when looking at the styling for each room and when shopping and stay on track and true to the end vision you have created.

My guest today is Sherinah Peck who is the owner and host of Farmhouse on Oxley on the Mid North Coast, NSW.
