Past pupil, Francesca Morelli dropped into DCP for a catch up and to tell us about her company - VAVA Influence.

Francesca is the CEO and co-founder of VAVA, a marketing agency for social media influencers in Northern Ireland. Francesca has worked with some of the biggest names in the worlds of TikTok and Instagram, as well as working global brands such as Coca-Cola and Eddie Rockets!

Year 13 Pupil, Imogen catches up with Northern Irish Actor: Conleth Hill.

You might have caught Conleth starring in a few shows which are kind of a big deal:

Conleth Hill is also a much respected star of the stage. He has appeared on multiple West End & Broadway Productions such as The Producers and MacBeth. Thursday 7th March 2024 marks World Book Day and our Year 13 pupils decided to celebrate the occasion by putting together an episode of The Dominicast.

In this episode, we hear from our Year 13 Pupil - Maebh who has been short listed as a finalist in a Writing Competition which she entered after seeing it advertised on our Careers Platform - UniFrog. Maebh will be attending the final in London soon and she tells us more about the process in her interview.

With the Six Nations Championship in full flight and with Ireland chasing back-to-back Grand Slam victories, our pupils caught up with Ex Ireland Rugby International Star - Andrew Trimble!

Andrew played Rugby for Ulster & Ireland up until retirement in 2018. During this time, Andrew found much success on the pitch playing alongside the biggest names in Rugby and competing in 6 Nations Championships and Rugby World Cups along the way.

It's Children's Mental Health Week in school this week and so the Dominicast decided to catch up with:

Daniel first found fame starring on the Channel 4 series - Married at First Sight. Since then however, he has established himself as a social media influencer, promoting mental wellbeing, positive living and travel!

Daniel now runs WildBay Retreats and has welcomed 100s of visitors to the North Coast to engage in meditation retreats, cold water swimming and nature trails!

As our Year 10 students begin to think about subject choices, our current Year 11 OCN IT Applications take the reigns as they provide information about OCN subjects.

What are they?

How are they different from GCSEs?

The students interview some of their peers, as well as some teachers of OCN subjects and dispel some myths and misconceptions along the way.

Year 13 students Michael & Oliver host the latest episode of Dominicast!

As part of the Dominican Award, the boys decided to produce an episode of our podcast. They did all their own research, scripted the entire show and arranged an interview with our past pupil, Cara Hunter MLA.

Cara Hunter is the SDLP MLA for East Derry.

Cara Hunter is 28 years old and currently resides in Portrush, Northern Ireland. Originally a mental health and suicide prevention advocate she joined the SDLP in 2017 and later became a Councillor in 2019.

Cara is currently the SDLP Spokesperson for Children and Young People and has served on the Assembly's infrastructure and health committees. Cara set up the Dual Diagnosis APG to create more accessible support and improved harm reduction models for those struggling with addiction and mental illness. She also has a keen interest in climate change, student concerns, improving and enhancing diversity in elected representatives, and creating affordable, sustainable childcare in Northern Ireland.
