The Dutch public securitisation market has seen a mini resurgence in early 2026, with several deals successfully placed. Rob shares his outlook for the remainder of the year and discusses which markets are likely to drive Dutch issuance.

Another major topic for market participants is the future of the EU Securitisation Regulation, with reforms currently under consideration by the European Parliament.

Of all the podcast guests so far, Harry has one of the longest and most varied careers, beginning his career as a research analyst at Credit Suisse before moving onto modelling. He then worked for Bank of America in structuring and origination, and held similar but more senior roles at Santander.

In 2011, he joined ING's treasury team to become Head of ABS and part of a core team responsible for over €100bn of the liquidity portfolio of the bank, before finally joining PCS in 2021.

With such a fascinating career journey, this episode explored the skills that Harry developed to become a leader in structured finance and how the attitude of continuous learning has shaped him as a person.

Discussing shipping securitization on a structured finance podcast is somewhat unusual, not least because as of yet there isn’t really a shipping securitization market. There are precisely zero outstanding public transactions, and just a handful of private deals.

However, in this episode Lightbourn and Augustin explain why the prospect of shipping securitization could be crucial to the sector as it goes through the journey of refinancing and renovating the worldwide shipping fleet over the coming years. 

With reform of the securitization framework now well underway, there was lots to chew over including the EU Parliament’s ECON hearing on the reforms, where a number of trade associations put forward their views.

Bell also discussed the role PCS plays in the market as an educational force, bringing securitization conferences (or Symposia) to all corners of Europe.

And lastly, he spoke about why after over a decade he decided to make a career change away from law and into the world of rating agencies and policymaking. 

The pair discussed the year so far, and explored which new asset classes could be seen in the market in the coming months. They also looked at the continuing interest in green financing products like solar ABS and heat pump securitizations.

Finally Owain also discussed Lenvi’s report on housing in the UK, called The Generation Gap, which amongst other things, looked at the rising appetite for equity release mortgages and securitizations of those products.

They discussed the year in ABS so far, alongside the maturation of the SRT market, the notable lack of UK supply, and what life is really like working on the syndicate desk in securitization.

Owen also discussed his own career journey, where he began as a graduate at Natwest, while offering advice for young banking graduates looking to make their way in the industry.

Maria has built her career as a pioneer in Finnish securitization law, and brings deep expertise in structured finance across the Nordic region.

The podcast explored Maria’s long and winding road into securitization, the development of both the Finnish and wider Nordic markets, and how regulation and policymaker attitudes in Europe are shifting in ways that will shape the next decade of structured finance.

Tom and Maria also looked ahead to the possibilities for esoteric asset classes in the Nordics—ranging from data centers to snowmobiles—and what makes these markets uniquely positioned for innovation.

Finally, Maria shared her thoughts on the personal and professional qualities that make for a great lawyer, offering insights not only for legal practitioners but for anyone navigating complex financial and regulatory environments.

Graduating from Harvard in 1998, Ezra joined Credit Suisse’s non-agency RMBS trading desk and went on to spend over 26 years at the bank where he eventually became Global Head of Securitized Products Trading. In the throes of the 2008 global financial crisis, Ezra’s team was one of the few departments that achieved profitability, while he also pioneered the MASCOT (Modifiable and Splittable or Combinable Tranches) structure in CLOs.

After Credit Suisse’s collapse, Ezra founded Entegra with the aim of reinvigorating the trading function for banks. And in this podcast, he discussed how Entegra works, why structured finance needs a better trading function, and shared the most crucial bits of wisdom he’s acquired in his near 30-year career.

Ed James, Founding Director of niche recruitment firm RCQ Associates is lucky “Guinea Pig number 2” as host, Tom Lemmon’s new podcast continues to gain momentum.

James founded RCQ almost exactly 10 years to the day, helping hundreds if not thousands of structured finance professionals find new roles and hire new faces.

In this episode, he discussed a range of topics from what it’s like to set up and successfully manage a business, to his top tips for people when they are looking to move.

He also gave a run-down of the major hiring trends this year, and what he expects to see going forward.

With Global ABS very soon upon us, there will be countless meetings between bankers, investors, originators and more. Much of it naturally focused on getting deals done.

But there will also be quieter conversations happening in the background too. Many market participants will be looking to find a new rung to help them climb the career ladder. Others will be looking to fill key positions. As those conversations approach, James’ experience, wisdom and tips are sure to be welcome preparation.

But with this being the debut episode, it needed someone with the gravitas and experience to lead the charge. So, it was brilliant to welcome Shaun Baddeley, Managing Director for Securitization at AFME as the first guest.

Baddeley and his team at AFME are working flat-out on making the case for securitization to the EU and UK legislators, with the European Commission expected to publish draft proposals for reform of the sector in June.

During the podcast, Baddeley discussed a range of topics on the question of reforms, looking at timelines, how the proposals could change as they make their way through the EU political system, and what is most likely to be included in the new proposals.

Finally, he also discussed AFME’s priorities over the rest of the year, including efforts to educate the wider public about the structured finance market, in particular on the topic of Significant Risk Transfer (SRT).
