Mykala opens up about balancing the demands of being both a student and a track and field athlete. She shares her lifelong love of track, how it has shaped her, and the joy she now finds in the sport. Interestingly, she reveals that the 400 relay, once her least favorite event, is now her strongest and most beloved.

Beyond athletics, Mykala talks about her academic path. Initially pursuing pediatric medicine, she eventually switched to biology with plans to attend nursing school. Now, with graduation approaching, she’s set on becoming a travel nurse, driven by the desire to live life on her own terms while giving back to her parents for all they've done.

Though her passion for track remains, Mykala is realistic about her future. If the opportunity to run professionally arises, she’ll chase it, but her main focus is on preparing for a successful nursing career.

Welcome Coach Sydney Carter to The IT Factor Podcast. She is a former WNBA Player and now a Coach over Player Development for the University of Texas Women’s Basketball Team. Coach Sydney has a passion for helping young athletes in college, which is actually where she won her first championship at Texas A&M. After college she went on to play in the league and oversea’s with some of the legends that are pioneers of the WNBA. Sydney stated - “The Orange Ball Took Her around the world for free”

She has played against some amazing players like Sue Bird, Diane Taurasi ,and Tina Thompson that were able to help make her dreams come true.

In her current role, as a coach at University of Texas, she describes it as a full circle moment from starting at Texas A&M . One day Coach Sydney hopes to serve as the head coach for a NCAA Women’s Basketball Team. From time to time she even loves to watch some of her past opponents like “Odyssey Sims”, Brittany Griner, and Candace Parker “ she also shouted out Candace Parker On her great career & retirement”

Coming from high school Jada was not recruited out of high school, but decided to go to NC State, and be a walk on. She was in a culture shock at NC State but when we spoke on NCA&T she spoke that her experiences were completely different. Jada came into her own won more competitions and became the athlete that she knew she could always be.

Since this interview she did an amazing job at nationals. Jada outstanding performance at nationals helped her to be asked to represent Team USA on the mixed 4x400 meter relay team at the 2023 Pan American Games in Chile. Her team picked up the bronze medal.

These are the first of many accomplishments that are coming Ms. Griffin’s way! I look forward to seeing her grow as a professional track star! I can not wait to see you representing America in the Olympics soon, and most of all seeing you grow as a person!

When asked about his "it factor," he expressed his desire to bring joy to the world through humor and laughter. He emphasized how laughter is contagious; once someone starts laughing at a comedy show, everyone joins in.

We then delved into how he maintains authenticity in his comedy. He avoids following trends and instead focuses on standup comedy derived from his own real-life situations, whether on stage or in internet skits. He ensures to convey his authentic truth, stating, "I know myself." I'm thankful to see that his comedy is reminiscent of Bernie Mac, which makes it relatable to us.

After TCU, Ross played basketball in the WNBA and overseas.

I asked why was it important to support women basketball, and she stated why not. Women’s basketball is amazing an that everyone should bring all the good energy to the sport.

We then dove into her company stylebystudio33, and she broke down that in her playing days she had the idea and was actually styling herself and a few others. Then with her majoring in fashion merchandising it opened up passion to design women athletes wardrobes.

Ross has her own basketball program called A Train Basketball clinic where she is able to help train, mentor, and give back to others through basketball camps and clinics.

She has done amazing work with so many college and WNBA women! I am so proud to see her doing what she loves and she is making major impact in women’s lives by helping them look and feel good!

She spoke highly of why she wanted to be an astronaut and how growing up people would say don’t you stop saying you want to be an astronaut in grade school. She was able to take one step closer to that goal by working at NASA.

One of Diamonds life long goals she would like to see come to life is ending world hunger, and how easily it can be fixed.

In this episode, Mr. Abraham speaks about his highs and lows while playing football. Starting with the first snap he took in the NFL until the last play he played in his career.

He spoke on the importance of taking care of yourself regarding concussions and how being in tune with your mental health is essential. He said he was working to correct many wrongs that he made once his career had ended.

He spoke on the downfalls of life after football how he had to seek out help with his mental issues, and how he had to downsize his life plans, for example, getting a smaller home and planning out his days. To see the progress he has made is such a blessing.

When asked what his it factor is, he stated that his three daughters are the reason he is still here, and although he loves the game of football. It took him away from them, and he is working to make up for lost time now, I must say that he is a fantastic father!

I first want to say that Coach Boone is a “Motivator of Men.”

I congratulated him and his team on winning the 2022 State Championship!

I am proud of the great Coach that he is, as we spoke about how he got into coaching back in 2005. He started as a high school coaching assistant. Listening and learning more than others is how he worked his way up from being a Coordinator to now being a Head Coach.

In this episode, he spoke on the importance of preparing young men for more than a football game but the game of life. He stated that he lets his young players’ parents know that their kids are going to be tired but locked in. It allows the parents to know that when their child gets home, they will have enough energy to eat, look over homework and get a good amount of sleep. I like this because it took me back to when I was a high school football player and being at the school kept me out of trouble.

Lastly, we spoke on how most of his seniors have signed to top college football programs in the past four years. None have had to sign to JUCO programs which has attested to both their athleticism and the way they attack their school work.

He has coached some of the best football players and overall students.

At the time of the shoot, Dr. Thomas was attending medical school at Howard University. She was selected for the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine pipeline initiative. This is Where she got a chance to work with the New York Giants!🏈🔴🔵

We spoke about how she enjoyed working for the Giants and loves to work with athletes stemming from her athletic background in undergrad! Her abilities to relate with athletes as a former track athlete were present because of her past injuries. First hand, she knows what recovery looks like.

I am proud to see that she has matched with the University of Virginia to finish her residency. She plans to pursue a Sports Medicine Fellowship that will help propel her to becoming a Primary Care Sports Medicine Team Physician.

I know that the future is so bright for Dr. Kayla C. Thomas and I look forward to continuing to document all of her great accomplishments.

Murlonda is a children’s book author. In this episode, we discussed what led to her becoming an author and the importance of representation in books. The work that she is doing is fantastic because most of her characters are based of her nephews.

I can only imagine how great they fill when they see there auntie making books not only for black boys, but them being the main characters. This episode took me back to my childhood when I got introduced to the Tiki and Ronde Barber book by my brother's side.

It is important to have blacks in this ample space it was an honor to interview him.

Welcome, Ms. Zenobia Williams, to the IT Factor Podcast! In this episode, we discussed what made Officer Williams become a police officer. She explained to me how it was not her first choice and how it became the right fit for her down the line.

We also spoke about how she felt educates her students as a resource officer and also people in the community as an officer. She tells them about their rights and helps to create a friendly environment among officers and the community.

We then discuss the importance of her remaining a great mother while working towards making the world a better place for her kids and her community. It was a pleasure to have her on the show!!

When this episode was shot, Kardell was playing for the LSU Tigers. He is now looking for a new home to play football in, and I know he will end up in a great place!

We spoke on the importance of athletes and people, in general, staying true to being themselves. He talks about overcoming his obstacles and what can be done to get you out of dark places.

I am so proud to see where Kardell ends up, and I can not wait to see the many accomplishments coming his way.

I like how she spoke on my platform in effort of making a real and needed impact. I can see that we are both making an amazing impact in this world! I see so much greatness coming her way and I want to see her keep changing the narrative!

We discussed what led to her becoming a Photographer and her ultimate life goals.

In this episode, we bring on De'Shaan Dixon and speak on his journey to the NFL.

We spoke about what it means to be a black father and had a fantastic talk on how he plans to leave his mark on the world.

Rashod started making a name for himself in his hometown of Tifton, GA as an amazing football player. He made a big transition to Minnesota to play college football for the Golden Gophers. It took him a while to adjust but he soon became an excellent student and an even better athlete. Rashod was drafted to the Baltimore Ravens, and he was just thankful to have his name called on draft day. His goal is to do better each year, even despite his injury that caused him to sit out the rest of the 2021-22 season. He’s back better than ever now and ready to do all he can for the Ravens organization.

We then pivoted into his IT Factor which is helping others, and for people to enjoy life no matter what they are doing. Rashad wanted to make sure that he found things outside of football that he loved to build his legacy. Hence his eye for fashion and outreach.

We closed with his ultimate life goal of wanting to make sure that his family and people are all healthy and supported because we lose people each and every day and we should embrace our families because they are all we have.

I am proud to see that my guy had an amazing, and healthy year in the 2023-2024 campaign and I know that more greatness is going to come your way because you are the true definition of changing the narrative!

We spoke about then what led to her committing to LSU for school and to run track! Before we dove into committing to LSU, we actually spoke on what got her started in track.

She shared how she played soccer for most of her life from the time she was 6 to 18 years old but always knew she was fast so she started running track. Also, she spoke about what led to her finding out that hurdling was her favorite track event! (she found out when she hurdled a trash can at practice, and her mom saw her from across the track and asked, “Do you want to try hurdling?”)

From starting her track career in high school and learning that hurdling was her favorite event, she won the junior Olympics and state! This all led to her becoming what she is now a student-athlete at LSU and Team USA track athlete!

Plus, we spoke about some obstacles she has had to overcome as a student-athlete. She told me how she overcame them and her focus for the upcoming season.

I am proud to see that she is off to a great season start with the indoor track season starting 2 weeks ago. I’m looking forward to her continuing to win championships, breaking records, and winning at all levels of her sport.

I know she will be in the Olympics someday soon because she is a genuine, hard-working, go-getter!

She shared some of her proudest moments thus far of her being a photographer such as the return of “Sha Carri Richardson” and how it was to meet her and see her win her race. She also spoke about the excitement she gets when she gets to take photos of her beloved Washington commanders. She spoke on how excited she was to capture “ Maia Chaka” on camera and the importance of the impact she is making on the game of football!

Taylor also spoke on the importance of black and brown people being in those spaces to take photos and to be looked at as they belong instead of always a intern or what are they doing her type of mentality. I know she is going to keep making a great impact with her camera.

At the time of the shoot, Dr. Thomas was attending medical school at The Howard University. She was selected into the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine pipeline initiative. This is Where she got a chance to work with the New York Giants!🏈🔴🔵

We spoke on how she enjoyed working for the Giants and loves to work with athletes stemming from her athletic background in undergrad! Her abilities to relate with athletes as a former track athlete were present because of her past injuries. First hand, she knows what recovery looks like.

I am proud to see that she has matched with the University of Virginia to finish out her residency. She plans to pursue a Sports Medicine Fellowship that will help propel her to becoming a Primary Care Sports Medicine Team Physician.

I know that the future is so bright for Dr. Kayla C. Thomas and I look forward to continue documenting all of her great accomplishments.

Murlonda is a children’s book author. In this episode, we discussed what led to her becoming an author and the importance of representation in books. The work that she is doing is fantastic because most of her characters are based of her nephews.

I can only imagine how great they fill when they see there auntie making books not only for black boys, but them being the main characters. This episode took me back to my childhood when I got introduced to the Tiki and Ronde Barber book by my brother's side.

Ms. Ragan’s impact ranges from Friday night lights high school football, intercollegiate athletics, and professional sports.
