The Podcast Effect explores what happens when experts, organisations and ideas are given the space to be heard.

I'm Ellen Ronalds Keene, a podcast strategist, producer, educator and podcast super-listener. Through my business, PERK Digital, I've spent almost a decade producing, editing, launching and obsessing over podcasts.

And I genuinely love the audio medium. Podcasts have changed my own life since I started listening to them on my laptop in 2007. Since then, I've watched the medium grow and change, and I've become increasingly interested in what happens because a podcast exists.

The conversations it starts. The knowledge it captures. The relationships it builds. The people it reaches. The opportunities it creates.

Because podcasting offers something increasingly valuable: space, intimacy and trust.

Used deliberately, a podcast can publish expertise, build authority, preserve valuable knowledge and stories, deepen relationships and create enduring content that keeps working long after you hit publish.

In The Podcast Effect, we'll explore the strategy, economics and possibilities of podcasting — from audio versus video and the changing world of search and AI, to deep niche audiences, regional storytelling, enduring content and what meaningful podcast success actually looks like.

You'll hear solo episodes unpacking my frameworks and philosophy, alongside conversations with podcasters, producers, industry experts and people using podcasts to do genuinely interesting and valuable work.

Because your best ideas deserve more than a post or a 60-second reel.
They deserve a longer shelf life.

And a podcast doesn't need millions of listeners to make an impact. Sometimes 100 of the right listeners are more valuable than 100,000 who aren't the right audience for what you're trying to achieve.
