A hornady 4DOF quirk in ELR that matters

So at the Nightforce ELR match I realized that my kestrel game was yellow belt and needed to level up quick. Each stage I knocked off items and details that improved my score steadily through the day.

One of the discoveries I made was a quirk with wind angle and shooting angle that made a difference if done right and caused elevation issues if not addressed.

Once fixed scores continued to climb and I continued to knock off more details that allowed me to go from somewhere between 60 and 100th to finishing top 10.

For me it was a huge win because I learned a lot and had fun doing it.

Hopefully this helps you is youre shooting at ranges where the details matter.

Inside of 1000 it really isnt much of an issue so I never paid attention.

Trying to talk about gear issues and what I have seen.

I think diagnosing gear issues can be overwhelming if you continue to shoot rounds and try to "test" by fire rather than thinking through what could cause the problem and look there before shooting.

Its not always easy, but more often than not it requires less shooting thank you think.

I love Frank. I think he is one of the easiest people in the shooting world to be around. He is considerate, thoughtful, experienced, and opinionated. You kind of have to have all of those qualities to be interesting and he has them all in spades. The thing is, we can always hang out in person and we always find ourselves tinkering with things instead of recording. So, today I was crunched a little on time and decided to call him and just chat. We ended up talking about calibers, speeds, themes over time, wind, the Assessment course we do together and his courses with Mark, and all sorts of stuff.

If you pay attention he always has great insights and I think I need to record more of these since its just so easy to chat about things.

Morgun King is the best bolt gunner in the country, so I figured it would be worth posting a talk with him and hear his thoughts on the stuff we like hearing about.

What I think is valuable for listeners to keep in mind during this conversation is that Morgun can apply his skill sets in any state, any range, any set of conditions within the Precision rifle world and usually trophy if not flat out win. There are only few shooters who can travel to any state and predictably trophy. Because of Morgan's predictability and track record I think its a valuable addition to a podcast that is trying to distill out nuggets of "truth" because for something to be considered a "truth" it needs to work more places, more often, and more of the time.. so whatever hes doing has more of it than the rest. So listen up this is going to be one of those talks that some people will listen to 5, 6, 10+ times and still not hear what hes actually saying? I know im looking forward to repeat listens.
