ఈ కోటని కాకతీయులు తమ రాజ్య సంరక్షణ కోసం గోదావరి నది తీరం ఒడ్డున నిర్మించారు ఈ కోట చుట్టూ 12 అడుగుల ఎత్తులో ప్రహరీ గోడను ఎత్తైన బండరాళ్లతో నిర్మించారు. ఈ కోటను ప్రతాగిరి గుట్టపై నాలుగు ప్రాకారాలతో, కోటపై సైనికులు నడవడానికి డగ్గు సున్నం, కంకర్లతో నిర్మించిన దారులున్నాయి. ఈ కోటలో సొరంగ్గ మార్గాలు కూడా ఉన్నాయి. ఈ కోటలో ఉన్న గోడలపై తెలుగు భాషలో చెక్కిన తొమ్మిది వరుసల్లో శాసనాలు చెక్కి ఉన్నాయి...
