This week's episode focused on the World Rapid & Blitz Championships, a 5-day speed chess extravaganza featuring Magnus Carlsen, Hikaru Nakamura, Fabiano Caruana, Ian Nepomniachtchi and breakout German star Vincent Keymer. There was a lot to discuss in this action-packed event, with some exciting chess interrupted by questionable arbiter decisions, Magnus Carlsen arriving 2.5 minutes late for a 3-minute game and a strictly enforced dresscode.

The Champions Chess Tour finished this week. Although the youngsters like Xiong, Erigaisi and Sevian put in strong performances, Levon Aronian won the final in style.

Olympiad talk this week involves a famous cheating scandal that may or not have involved the French team.

The Grand Chess Tour in Zagreb is up next, with Magnus Carlsen playing and Jan talking about it. He'll be joined by 1 Lawrence and 1 Laurent (no Peters).

Biel continues with Gukesh becoming the 3rd or 4th (who knows?) youngest 2700 player.

Dortmund also began this week and Jan is not happy with it!

The chicken's pre-tournament predictions came under fire from Hikaru Nakamura - will they hit back?!

The Candidates is over so we have a new Challenger! And he's just as good as the old one! Ian Nepomniachtchi is the man, but will Magnus Carlsen defend his crown?

The FIDE Candidates rumbles on and after 9 rounds, Ian Nepomniachtchi is the man to beat. He's a full point ahead of Fabiano Caruana with Ding Liren & Hikaru Nakamura trailing on 50%.

There's a lot to discuss at the Candidates from Nepo's impressive performance to Rapport's risk-taking.

"What are you going to fix in FIDE this week, Peter?" continues to provide few answers on what Peter will fix. This week Emil Sutovsky was challenged to a debate and there will now be an epic battle to find a suitable date.

Nigel Short has resigned as VP of FIDE and has gone to war with (one of) the US Virgin Islands Federation.

Dvorkovich has a new website and was recently interviewed for chess24 but have we learned anything new?
