About Dr Benita Mayhead:

Dr. Benita Mayhead has been in the field of learning and development since the 1980s, beginning her career in human resources within large corporates. Today, she enjoys her role as an executive coach and coach supervisor, collaborating with mid to senior level leaders, teams and fellow coaches.

Benita has an MA and a professional doctorate in coaching and mentoring, both obtained from Oxford Brookes University. Her doctoral research focused on the ethics and duty of care of executive coaches. Her research has been published in various journals, and in 2023, Henley Business School honoured her with the Research Paper of the Year award for one of her contributions. She continues to write, and a book is underway.

Her two daughters, family and friends come first for Benita, as does keeping fit and well. Living in Surrey with her husband, she can be found out walking with her dogs, most often at sunrise.

About Sam Jayasuriya:

Sam has a 30 year background in the education sector. In that time she was a Headteacher for 20 years in 3 different schools. Sam’s experience of working with a huge range of people across different cultures, economic and social backgrounds gives her a strength of connecting with others.

After her coach training she moved into full time coaching. She runs her own business and works as an associate coach with global coaching companies.

About Lee Chambers:

Lee Chambers is the Founder and CEO of Male Allies UK. After a diverse career, from corporate finance to building and exiting tech companies, he is now focused on supporting organisations to engage men in inclusion and promote effective allyship. He has been featured on the Startups 100 Index, has received a Great British Entrepreneur Award, and sits on the board of CMI Women, Regenerage UK and the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. In 2024, he received the Freedom of the City of London for services to equality in business.

He is a Kavli Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences in the USA, the first Black British scientist to be awarded in its 33-year history, received for his work on health inequalities. He is the 2023 UN Women Changemaker of the Year, and is an ambassador for the UK Governments Lilac Review for Disabled Entrepreneurship. He speaks globally on allyship and intersectionality, having taken the stage at One Young World, ChangeNOW and the Bloomberg Global Equality Summit, and is the author of the upcoming book, Momentum: 13 Ways To Unlock Your Potential.

About Bob Thomson:

At the end of September 2024, Bob stepped back after eleven years as a Professor at Warwick Business School. One of the highlights of his time there was designing and leading a very distinctive module for their full-time MBA students, LeadershipPlus. In partnership with the school's career coaches and external consultants, the module was highly experiential, helping each student to explore who they are, to work collaboratively in a team, and to consider how they want to act as a manager and leader. He also worked on modules on Leadership, Management of Change, and Organisational Behaviour for students on WBS's Executive and Global Online MBA programmes.

For seven years, he served as a Senior Tutor for half of the final year undergraduates at WBS. This involved supporting students who had mitigating circumstances – sadly, often mental health challenges – which affected their ability to study and complete assessments. He was also for eight years a personal tutor for Foundation Year students, supporting individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds to gain access to a WBS degree programme and hence to widen participation.

Prior to joining WBS, he worked for nine years in the Learning & Development team at the University of Warwick. He created and ran the Warwick Leadership Programme for senior academics, administrators and managers. He also established the Warwick Administrative Management Programme for middle-ranking administrators and managers. He created a staff coaching and mentoring scheme, a competency framework and associated 360-degree feedback process, and a workplace mediation process.

Before that, he worked in learning and development roles at British Gas, Transco and National Grid. He is accredited to use a number of psychometric tools and 360-degree feedback instruments, including MBTI and Spotlight. His first career was as an economist with British Steel and ICI.
