In 2012, he teamed up with Judy Zimet, a Scottsdale real estate attorney and animal lover, to start Dog Is My CoPilot. Over the past decade, Dog is My CoPilot has grown from flying 20-30 pets at a time to now rescuing 1,000 dogs and cats a month all across the country.

Peter and Stephan talk about the dedication of the volunteers at the animal shelters and the hard work and logistics that goes into transporting hundreds of animals at a time. In 2023, their volunteer pilot team has grown, and they now have ten pilots helping to fly their rescue missions.

Dog is My CoPilot works collaboratively with city shelters, local animal welfare organizations, and individuals to save the lives of pets abandoned in animal shelters. They reduce animal euthanasia in overcrowded shelters by ensuring that each pet has the chance to find a safe and loving home.

Originally from New Hampshire, Bronwyn developed a deep appreciation for the breathtaking landscapes of Wyoming during her summers spent at a camp in the Wind River Range. Kate has always had a passion for education and helping others. As the Backbone Leader of the Teton Behavioral Health Alliance and the Executive Director of Girls Education International, Kate has dedicated her career to ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and support they need to thrive.

In this episode, Kate discusses her journey from a young girl visiting the Tetons on a family road trip, to making Jackson Hole her home and pursuing a career in education. She talks about her experiences working with local organizations such as the Teton Literacy Center, Teton Science School, and the Jackson Hole Community School.

Kate also shares her excitement about her new role at the Teton Behavioral Health Alliance and the mission of this newly formed organization. She and Stephan then discuss Girls Education International, which is focused on providing girls in rural communities of Tanzania and Pakistan with access to education.

Boots was inducted into the Heart Warrior club on January 15, 2021, via open-heart surgery for unroofing for a rare congenital heart defect - myocardial bridging. She continues to monitor her other defects which include a bicuspid valve and tortuous arteries. All of this came to light while on a mountain bike ride on in 2020 when she experienced heart attack symptoms at age 42. Thanks to all of this, Boots has been given a priceless perspective on life and wants to spread the gifts of that awareness and joy in knowing we aren't born perfectly, and that life can still be kick-ass despite imperfect hearts or whatever didn't quite pan out for us in utero. She is working on her first of three books and publishes weekly on her Substack, Joyful Beat.

In this chat, Joe shares the story of how a speed flying accident in 2010 changed the course of his life. The accident left Joe an incomplete C7 quadriplegic, meaning he is paralyzed from the chest down and has impairment in both his hands. Within a year of his accident, he overcame the challenges of being in a coma and rehabilitation to become the first quadriplegic to bike the Going-to-the-Sun-Road in Glacier. In this episode, Hal shares with Stephan many stories of what it was like to live in work in Jackson over the years. He talks about owning a feedlot that was run out of business by Purina. Hal goes into detail about all the longtime locals he has worked for, how he became a part-owner of the rodeo and why he left Jackson for a brief period of time. In this episode, Sharel and Stephan discuss some of the real problems that residents are facing and how Jackson has the perception of being a Utopia. Sharel talks about her work for the Community Safety Network, an organization that provides a refuge for people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking. She then goes into what the One22 Resource Center does for the community. 

One22 provides residents with many resources, including financial assistance, language access services, immigrant services and youth scholarships. One22 also runs the Jackson Cupboard, which helps nourish our community and cuts down on food insecurity.

In this episode, Jim shares what it was like growing up in California in the 60s. He talks about how his love of climbing led him to start teaching and guiding by the age of 13. Stephan and Jim discuss how his mother made a big impact on the trajectory of his life. Jim then dives into some of his incredible adventures, including skiing 900 miles in 50 days to the South Pole, guiding climbers up the Seven Summits of the world in less than one year, and successfully following Ernest Shackelton’s 1915 route through the Antarctic’s South Georgia Islands. Stephan and Jim also talk about his efforts to help clean up all the waste left behind on Mount Everest.

In this episode, Lisa gets a little more personal with Stephan and talks about her latest fitness journey. In October of 2021, Lisa’s sister Julie passed away of colon cancer. To honor her memory in her own way, Lisa took part in the virtual Badwater 267 mile challenge for the month of January. Since Lisa wanted Julie to be a part of the journey, she would need to do her 267 miles as well. From January 1st - 31st Lisa set out to walk and run 534 miles. Listen to this touching episode to hear from Lisa while she walks near the end of her 534-mile challenge.

Phil made his way out to Wyoming a week after graduating from college in Massachusetts. After spending a summer guiding tourists on fly fishing trips, he transitioned into the non-profit sector and took a position at the Teton Science School. Utilizing his knowledge of scientific literacy and non-profit operations Phil pivoted to a job as Executive Director of Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities. His work with Clean Cities helped Phil discover his passion for working on energy efficiency projects and paved the way for him to take an opportunity to be the Executive Director of Energy Conservation Works.

In this episode, Bob shares the history of his family lineage and the story of when he was born back in 1933. He talks about what it was like growing up in Jackson in the 40s and how isolating the winters could be. Bob reminisces about his time working in Big Piney and how a scuffle almost led to his demise. He goes into how he met his wife, moved back to Jackson, and eventually started Shervin’s Independent Oil.
