For this episode, Morgan teaches Tom all about Tim Burton's excellent 1989 revival of Batman, starring Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson.

The film gave a new lease of life to Bruce Wayne, ushering in a new era of superhero movies that arguably led to Spider-Man, X-Men, the MCU and beyond.

In the episode, we discuss the ridiculous number of actors and directors linked to the project, Batman's unnatural and awkward Batsuit, and much more.

It's the annual Two Geeks Halloween special, and this year we look back at the downright terrifying 1992 one-off BBC mockumentary: Ghostwatch.

Starring Michael Parkinson, Sarah Greene and Craig Charles, the special spooked the entire UK when it aired, with many believing it was a real broadcast from a haunted house. While many loved it, it was met with criticism from many, and had real-life tragic consequences.

To this day, we're still terrified by it!

Co-created by the late Jim Henson, the Simpsons-style sitcom followed Earl and his family, with Baby ‘Not the Momma’ becoming its breakout star. Gotta love me!

In the episode, we look back at his harrowing finale episode, hear about how they almost teamed up with the Turtles, and how Tom’s admiration of ‘cool’ Robbie reminded Morgan of Rudedog and the Dweebs.

For this episode, Morgan is teaching Tom all about… Big Trouble in Little China!

We were both fans of this film growing up, and Morgan realised while researching the episode that it’s actually one of his all-time favourites to this day!

Starring Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall and directed by John Carpenter, the 1986 film had everything: romance, comedy, martial arts, action and fantasy. It had a fantastic cast, including brilliant supporting roles Dennis Dun, James Hong and Victor Wong.

This podcast episode sees us go off on tangents about the 3 Ninjas franchise and the bonkers film Buckaroo Banzai. Plus, we look back on Big Trouble’s rival film The Golden Child starring Eddie Murphy.

Morgan also comes up with a new phrase about questionable film facts called ‘IMDBatable’. And he isn’t sure about Tom’s choice of Seann William Scott taking over from Kurt Russell in a potential sequel.

We previously discussed the well-received but sadly maligned Sega Dreamcast, and the brilliance of the Sega Megadrive, but what about the consoles that were just… nope.

As well as a few honourable mentions, we discuss at length three ‘classic’ consoles: the VHS-powered Action Max, the Nintendo Virtual Boy and the downright bonkers Coleco Telstar Arcade.

We also discover how Tom was about 20 years behind the curve with video games, and Morgan’s strange history with Eiffel 65.

Aquila was a much-loved 1990s CBBC sci-fi series that only ran for two seasons, but it left a longlasting impression on us all these years later.

In case you don’t know the show (which is quite likely if you weren’t aged between 10 and 14 in 1997 and lived in the UK), Aquila follows the adventures of the brilliantly-named Tom and Geoff, who discover a mysterious spaceship. The ship, Aquila, is capable of pretty much anything, and the boys soon head off on incredible journeys through time and space. Oooh…

In the episode, we ponder what we would have done with such a ship when we were kids, whether it had TikTok and Instagram and they didn’t know it, and recalled moments of being bullied by kids far younger than us at school.

Pogs were arguably the biggest fad of all time, but if you were a kid in the period of 1993-1997, then you most likely had your own collection of these things (unless of course, you’re Morgan living in Cornwall, apparently).

In this episode, Tom takes Morgan through a history of the short-lived ’90s craze. We look back at Pog history, the rules of the game, what went wrong, and why it was banned from school playgrounds everywhere. We also remember the many Pog-knockoffs, including Slammer Whammers and Tazos.

Tom also recalls a story from his youth that he’s not proud of, that he’s never told before…

We look back at the underrated Disney adventure movie starring Billy Campbell, Jennifer Connelly, and hamming it up to the nines, Timothy Dalton.

Morgan realises he’s been pronouncing main character Cliff Secord’s name wrong for nearly 30 years, and we get fascinated by a forgotten romcom which beat it at the box office. Tom also gets rather confused by a new Disney cartoon sequel. We also get sidetracked by the Trancers film franchise starring a surprising Oscar-winner.

In classic Two Geeks style, it wasn’t a box office success but went on to gain a cult following!

Yes, that sounds like a soapy teen romcom like Once and Again, but it was actually a great thriller/romantic drama/spy drama/comedy that only ran for one season, but still has a cult following 20 years later.

Starring Eric Close, Dennis Haysbert and John Goodman, we look back at what went right with Now and Again, what went wrong, and why you should give it a go (it’s all on YouTube…).

This includes remembering its downright strange theme tune, its unintentional comical beginnings, and why Dennis Haysbert has the best voice of all time.

In case you didn’t know (which is quite likely), the series focused on overweight family man Michael Wiseman (John Goodman), who is accidentally killed and brought back to life.

However, he is now the ultimate perfect man, with a much younger, ripped, body (Eric Close). He is forced to go on government spy missions and must not reveal his identity to his wife and daughter.

Yes, it sounds like the plot of a Karl Pilkington movie idea, but it actually happened. And it deserved at least a second season, but alas…

This episode sees Morgan teaching Tom all about Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, plus its beginnings and predecessors.

Why was Twiki something of a cad? Did Gil Gerard ever actually enjoy it? How does one get down and boogie?

Based on the character Buck Rogers created back in 1928, this series ran from 1979 to 1981, with its pilot episode being released as an actual film at the cinemas and everything.

Running for two seasons and 37 episodes, its two runs were completely different in tone. But it went on to become a cult favourite among fans for decades.

Tom Cruise first made his name as an international movie star in 1980s classics like Top Gun and Risky Business. By the 1990s he had become a Hollywood icon, and took on a range of different roles from Minority Report to Jerry Maguire.

By 2020 he’s still going strong, doing his own stunts in the Mission Impossible franchise and is tipped to be going into actual space…

Ed was a joy to speak to, and as massive Bill & Ted geeks, it was fascinating to hear his tales behind the rollercoaster journey to get all three films made, how they managed to pay tribute to George Carlin, and just what the films mean to so many people.

A childhood favourite film of Tom’s, Terry Gilliam’s fantasy comedy is one of the most underrated films of its generation.

Reuniting Gilliam with several of his Monty Python mates, the film was part-financed by George Harrison and formed the first part of Gilliam’s ‘Trilogy of Imagination’, which was followed by Brazil and The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.

All the films are about the “craziness of our awkwardly ordered society and the desire to escape it through whatever means possible”, and focus on these struggles and attempts to escape them through imagination: Time Bandits through the eyes of a child, Brazil through the eyes of a man in his thirties, and Munchausen through the eyes of an elderly man.

Time Bandits starred child actor Craig Warnock as Kevin, and the brilliant David Rappaport as Randall. There’s also excellent cameo appearances from Sean Connery, Michael Palin, John Cleese, Ian Holm and many others.

We discover why roller blading won’t help you in a gang, why you should never bring guns to a metal rod fight, and why we’d love to go clubbing to ’90s video game glitchcore soundtracks.

As we’ve said on the podcast before, we were both late bloomers when it came to video games. Essentially, we had the console you were meant to have 3 years previously, but we loved Streets of Rage and its sequel on the Megadrive as kids.

Streets of Rage is a series of side-scrolling beat ’em up video games, focused on various ex-police vigilantes trying to take down a crime syndicate that has corrupted its local government.

The first three games came out on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive in the early 1990s, and have since been ported and re-released on various platforms. Streets of Rage 4 followed in 2020.

Whether you preferred playing as Max, Axel, Blaze, or even Skate (really?), it was a must-have game for players back in the day.

This time, Tom takes Morgan through a history of the Warner Bros classic from start to finish and its upcoming sequel.

The boys discuss their past basketball ‘glory’, Morgan has his mind blown that it’s not actually called the Looney Toons, discover that Tweety Pie is surprisingly pervy, and ponder whether Foghorn Legorn was actually killed off in this movie.

Space Jam came out in 1996 as a star vehicle for basketball superstar Michael Jordan. It saw him being recruited by the Looney Tunes to take part in a basketball game against a group of aliens who are threatening to take Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and co to be slaves at a theme park. Yep, really.

Somehow, it was an enjoyable load of 90s fun, complete with a Bill Murray cameo and a kickass soundtrack. It also spawned a lot of merchandise which made billions of dollars.

It’s now also coming back as a long-awaited sequel starring Lebron James called Space Jam: Legacy. Weirder things have happened lately.

The boys discuss Timothy Dalton’s beautiful face, Benicio del Toro’s unique line deliveries, the film’s cracking theme tune and how Felix Leiter got over losing two limbs and his wife rather too quickly.

Licence to Kill was Timothy Dalton’s second (and sadly last) James Bond film.

The first 007 film not to use the title of an Ian Fleming story, the film saw Bond being suspended from MI6 as he pursued drug lord Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi), who has ordered an attack against Bond’s CIA friend Felix Leiter and the murder of Felix’s wife after their wedding.

Surprisingly dark at times, it was a fantastic revenge thriller, with Dalton proving that he deserved far more plaudits for his portrayal as Bond.

Plus, you’ve got to love a very young Benicio del Toro as a minor Bond villain.

They remember the various famous theme tunes, how its creator didn’t know what he wanted, why Zack was a bit of a dick and why The New Class went on far too long. Justice for The College Years!

Starting life as Good Morning Miss Bliss, the show was retooled with some of the characters including Zack Morris and Screech returning, becoming the new series Saved by the Bell.

Airing for four seasons from 1989 to 1993, the show followed a group of high school students at Bayside High School. It became a Saturday morning staple for kids in the US and UK in the early 1990s.

It then spawned a series of spinoffs and sequels, including 2020’s reboot which also brings back several of the same characters.

This time, Morgan pens a podcast love letter to his childhood and adoration for the 1994 animated version of Peter Parker and his pals.

We look at the potentially murky history behind the epic theme tune creators, the bizarre censorship rules to protect children, and its utterly bonkers multiverse ending.

Spider-Man The Animated Series ran on the Fox Kids Network from 1994 to 1998, with a total of five seasons and sixty-five episodes.

Starring Morgan’s hero Christopher Daniel Barnes as Peter Parker, and Two Geeks favourite Ed Asner as J Jonah Jameson, the series was massively popular and helped cement Spider-Man as a hugely popular superhero years before Tobey Maguire brought it to the big screen.

As Morgan has never seen 1985’s Clue, or even played Cluedo, for the latest episode Tom gives a mini history lesson on the crime caper starring Tim Curry.

The boys discuss the film’s groundbreaking different endings, a potential remake, and why Monopoly is the worst.

Directed by Jonathan Lynn with a script by Lynn and John Landis, the black comedy mystery film starred a fantastic ensemble including Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry, Madeleine Khan and Michael McKean.

Ahead of its time in many ways, Clue had three possible endings, and while it wasn’t a huge success at the time, it has gone on to become a cult favourite (in true Two Geeks fashion).

For this episode, we’re heading back to the ‘90s with a ‘splat’, as we fall back under the spell of The Demon Headmaster, investigating the vintage CBBC series, the recent reboot and the books that inspired them both.

Morgan teaches Tom all about the classic kids’ show that is still rather terrifying, and share our own harrowing stories of teachers. Tom’s broken ruler story will send shivers down your spine…

Based on the series of books by Gillian Cross, The Demon Headmaster ran on CBBC from 1996 to 1998. It starred Terrence Hardiman in the title role, becoming one of the most feared TV characters for 90s kids everywhere.

It was brought back as a sequel series in 2019, with Hardiman returning in later episodes, much to the joy of total nerds like us.

For this episode, Tom is taking Morgan back to the year 2000 and his teenage obsession with The Sims – the first iteration of the hugely popular Sims video game franchise.

We go through the first Sims era, its creation from depressing circumstances, its long list of expansion packs, what the heck Simlish is, and why it’s not a great party unless Drew Carey turns up.

Created by Will Wright after he had an idea sparked by a house fire of all things, the Maxis game series The Sims launched in 2000 on PC.

Since then, it has spawned countless sequels, expansion packs, spin-offs and more, and has become one of the most successful game franchises of all time.

Since then, society has collapsed and that film has been postponed till August, but despite that, we still wanted to celebrate a cultural milestone.

Here, we explore the wonderful world of Wonder Woman, specifically the 1970s television series starring Lynda Carter. We tackle Diana’s somewhat strange flight plans, the show’s trio of awesome theme tunes, and how it tackled the sexism of the era.

Based on the DC Comics superhero character, Wonder Woman was a big success in the second half of the 1970s.

Starring Lynda Carter and Lyle Waggoner, Wonder Woman’s first season aired on ABC and was set in the 1940s during World War II.

The second and third seasons moved to CBS and were set in the 1970s, with the title changed to The New Adventures of Wonder Woman, and a complete change of cast other than Carter and Waggoner.

We try and work out the film’s timeline, discover hilarious character names in the credits, and hear Tom’s god awful Channing Tatum impression.

Also, hear the grumpy hilarity that ensues when almost half the episode has to be re-recorded due to Zoom malfunctioning!

Tokyo Drift was released in 2006 as the third film in the Fast & Furious franchise. However, it didn’t star Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, but drifted over to Japan for a new adventure starring Lucas Black as Sean Boswell.

Introducing a new cast including Sung Kang as Han, the film became something of a cult favourite with fans, and managed to just about keep the franchise going, before Vin and Paul returned for 2009’s Fast and Furious.

With the upcoming Fast 9 set to bring back Sean and other Tokyo Drift characters, it’s a treat to go back to when flip phones and Devon Aoki were cool.

Live and Kicking launched in the early 1990s, and became an institution in the UK when it came to children’s TV.

The Highlander series began with a 1986 film starring Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod, the Highlander himself.

Born in Glenfinnan in the Scottish Highlands in the 16th century, MacLeod is an immortal empowered by an energy called the ‘Quickening’, and is only able to die if beheaded. Nice.

On TV, Highlander: The Series aired for six seasons from 1992 to 1998, starring Adrian Paul as Connor’s kinsman Duncan MacLeod.

There have been four Highlander films, one made-for-TV film, two live-action TV series, an animated TV show, an anime film, a flash animation series, original novels, comic books, and various licensed merchandise. Wow.

Running from 1978 to 1981 and four seasons, it followed the adventures of rogue Roj Blake, who leads a small group of rebels against the forces of the evil (sort of) Terran Federation that rules the Earth and other planets.

He and fellow prisoners Jenna Stannis and Kerr Avon gain control of a technologically advanced alien spacecraft, Liberator. Blake and his crew (seven of ’em) begin a campaign to damage the Federation, but are pursued by Space Commander Travis — a Federation soldier — and Servalan, the Supreme Commander and later Federation President. Oooh.

Directed by Ridley Scott, Legend followed from his early films including Blade Runner and Alien. It starred a young Tom Cruise, Mia Sara and an utterly terrifying Tim Curry.

Legend follows Jack, a ‘pure being’ who must stop the Lord of Darkness who aims to cover the world with eternal night, just like Mr Burns.

Despite not being a commercial success at the time and receiving mmmixed rrrreviews, it has gone on to receive a cult following, in classic Two Geeks fashion.

Nicholas spoke in depth about his love for all things Doctor Who, including his work on Audio Visuals, Myth Makers and many Big Finish Productions audio dramas.

The geek hero reveals awkward moments meeting Doctor Who legends, how he assumed Andy Serkis would voice the Daleks instead of him, and the projects he’d love to make if he got the rights.

Nicholas Briggs began his Doctor Who journey as host of The Myth Makers, a series of made-for-video documentaries in the 1980s and 1990s by Reeltime Pictures, in which he interviewed many of the actors, writers and directors of the show.

When Reeltime started producing original dramas, Nicholas wrote stories and acted in others, including the first unofficial Doctor Who spinoff Wartime. By the late 1980s, Nicholas also provided the voice of a future incarnation of the Doctor for unofficial audio dramas by Audio Visuals.

Since Doctor Who returned to in 2005, Nicholas Briggs has provided the voices for several monsters, including the Daleks and the Cybermen, and continues to create and star in fantastic productions for Big Finish. He is a true Doctor Who – and all round geek – legend.

We look back at strange Dreamcast adverts from the era, and why it is still considered one of the best consoles of all time. We also remember games including Crazy Taxi and the oddity that was Seaman.

The Dreamcast was released by Sega in 1998/99, and was the first in the sixth generation of video game consoles, ahead of Sony’s PlayStation 2, Nintendo’s GameCube, and Microsoft’s Xbox. The Dreamcast proved to be Sega’s final home console, marking the end of the company’s 18 years in the console market.

While the Dreamcast sadly had a short lifespan and limited third-party support, it was way ahead of its time, including being the first console to include a built-in modem for online play.

Morgan reminds Tom just why Buffy and the Scooby Gang were so great. We remember its kickass theme tune, our several man crushes on cast members and when Anthony Head made Tom feel very stupid.

Based on the 1992 movie of the same name, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was created by Joss Whedon, and ran from 1997 to 2003.

In case you didn’t know, Buffy followed the titular character (Sarah Michelle Gellar), the latest in a line of young women known as ‘Vampire Slayers’, chosen by fate to battle against vampires, demons and other forces of darkness.

Despite being ignored by major awards, it was a ratings success and spawned a cult following, and a spin-off show called Angel starring the dishy David Boreanaz.

With some tequila and more beer than usual, this may be the drunkest we’ve ever been, which will make for some adventurous storytelling…

In this episode, Morgan takes Tom on a leap of faith back to the 1980s and beyond, as we retrace Sam Beckett (or is it Becket?)’s travels through time in Quantum Leap.

From its heartwarming moments, its somewhat dubious moments to its cracking theme tune, Ziggy says we have a 100% chance of having one hell of a ride.

Morgan spends what feels like half the episode explaining to Tom the show’s rules of time travel and just how Sam leaps into different historical figures. Some say he’s still explaining it.

Quantum Leap was created by Donald P. Bellisario, and originally aired on NBC for five seasons, from 1989 to 1993.

Starring Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, it followed the physicist who leaps through spacetime during an experiment in time travel, by temporarily taking the place of other people to correct historical mistakes.

Dean Stockwell co-starred as Al Calavicci, Sam’s womanizing, cigar-smoking best pal, who appears to him as a hologram.

It was a unique mix of sci-fi, drama, romance and comedy, with a truly awesome theme tune to boot.

The Marine series started off as a 2006 action film starring John Cena, and has since spawned over 4 sequels featuring various other WWE stars.

Universal Soldier began in 1992, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren, and has since had five movie sequels of varying quality.

Air Bud began life as a 1997 kids film about a Golden Retriever playing basketball. There have since been multiple sequels and spin-offs that will make your head hurt.

Puppet Master started in 1989 with a film about a group of anthropomorphic puppets animated by an Egyptian spell. There have since been 10 sequels and other spin-offs, and they still won’t die.

Developments since broadcast:

• The Marine 6 was released in November 2018 – Close Quarters – it is thought to be the final film in the series, but who knows?
• In late 2018, Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal hired Richard Wenk to write a reboot of the Universal Soldier films.
• In 2020, a Puppet Master spin-off titled Blade: The Iron Cross was released on DVD and streaming.

Morgan takes Tom through a history of the M:I franchise, from its TV series, to the movies and beyond.

Mission Impossible started life as a 1960s TV spy series starring Steven Hill and Peter Graves. Known for its iconic theme tune and ‘self destruct’ opening sequence, it became a staple of US TV for many years.

Fast forward to 1996, and Tom Cruise brought back the show as a big budget movie, playing IMF agent Ethan Hunt. The Mission Impossible film series is still going strong 25 years later, with each film showing off even bigger stunts, and making more money at the box office.

Developments since broadcast:

• Mission Impossible 7 has since been filmed, and is scheduled to be released in November 2022 after having delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It will star Tom Cruise alongside Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and Henry Czerny, the latter of whom is returning for the first time since the original film.

Here, Tom welcomes Morgan to the world of the Jurassic Park series, from the original book by Michael Crichton, to all five movies, video games, toys and more.

We also discover the dodgy Carnosaur franchise, the cancelled TV series that Spielberg couldn’t be bothered to look at, and what Tim and Lex Murphy did next.

The Jurassic Park franchise began in 1990, when Universal bought the rights to Michael Crichton’s novel before it was even published.

In 1993, Steven Spielberg’s film version was a massive success, becoming the highest-grossing film of all time. Starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Richard Attenborough, it made dinosaurs cool again.

It had two further sequels, and in 2015, it returned as a soft reboot in Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt. This was followed by 2018’s Fallen Kingdom, both of which were massive box office hits.

Developments since broadcast:

• A sixth Jurassic Park film – Jurassic World: Dominion – is in the works, and will be released in summer 2022. It will also bring back Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum in lead roles.

In this very special episode, Tom and Morgan interview Jamie Anderson, the son of the late, great Gerry Anderson, the head of Anderson Entertainment, and producer of many Big Finish audio productions.

Meeting at a pub in London, we chat about the history of Gerry Anderson’s amazing body of work, including Thunderbirds, Stingray, Terrahawks, Captain Scarlet and more.

• Mortal Kombat is now getting a rebooted film, set to come out in 2021. The reboot will focus on Lewis Tan as Cole Young, with other characters appearing including Liu Kang, Sub Zero, Raiden, Sonya Blade, Scorpion and Jax.

Mortal Kombat launched in 1992 as a video game by Midway Games, based on an idea that Ed Boon and John Tobias had of making a game starring Jean-Claude Van Damme.

Sadly, that fell through, but a fantasy-themed fighting game was created instead, paying homage to the legendary action star with the character Johnny Cage, whose initials and style echo Van Damme’s.

The original game has since spawned many sequels and spin-offs. Film producer Lawrence Kasanoff licensed the rights to the game in the early 1990s, and produced the first hit film ever based on a video game. Let’s just forget about the second film, shall we?

There has also been an animated TV series, live-action TV series, a platinum-selling album and a live-action tour. Mortal Kombat is one of the most successful fighting franchises in the history of video games and one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time.

Mortal Kombat is also known, of course, for its high levels of graphic violence, including its famous ‘Fatalities’, which led to the creation of the ESRB video game rating system.

• The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance was released on Netflix to great acclaim in 2019. It was a prequel to the original film, and it was one of Tom’s favourite TV shows of the 2010s. We even went to the show’s launch in London!
• As of 2021, the Labyrinth sequel is still in the works. Doctor Strange’s Scott Derrickson will direct, with Maggie Levin co-writing with him, and The Jim Henson Company’s Brian Henson as executive producer.
• We eventually did a whole episode dedicated to David Bowie in film and TV, so you should check that out too.

We cover various mindmelts from C3PO’s leg to ‘Stop the Pigeon’ to ‘Kazaam’ to ‘The Berenstain Bears’, all of which confused the hell out of us.

• We recorded a Bill and Ted special to celebrate Face the Music’s release in 2020, which featured an interview with co-writer Ed Solomon.
• Keanu will star in a long-awaited fourth Matrix film, expected to be released in 2022.
• Keanu also starred in the even more long-awaited video game Cyberpunk 2077 as Johnny Silverhand. Tom still hasn’t got it working yet.

• We’ve since recorded episodes on the greatest James Bond video games, and also looked back on Timothy Dalton’s underrated Licence to Kill.
• Daniel Craig’s final outing has been announced, but as of early 2021, A Time To Die has been delayed more than three times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Daniel Craig is now set to be the longest-serving James Bond in terms of years he has owned the role.

• Amazingly, the Power Rangers TV series is still going. Since this episode, there have been five more seasons – our favourite of which was called ‘Dino Fury’ in 2021.
• In 2017, the Power Rangers film reboot was released. While it pleased a decent amount of fans, it wasn’t a massive box office success.
• Paramount is currently working on another attempt at a Power Rangers film reboot.

Well, it was a gem until the third season onwards when Fox ruined it. We find out just what went wrong with a brilliant sci-fi premise, including exclusive audio from John Rhys-Davies!

Beer choice this time: Old Mout Cider – as ciders rhymes with Sliders.

Developments since broadcast:

• Both Jerry O’Connell and John Rhys-Davies have spoken of a potential revival of the series as recently as 2019.

We also discover how Die Hard could have starred Frank Sinatra instead of Bruce Willis, and we almost fall out when trying to rank the films.

• The planned sixth Die Hard movie was seemingly scrapped after Disney secured the rights to the 20th Century Fox catalogue.
• Disney is apparently planning to reboot Die Hard as a TV series on streaming service Hulu.

– In August 2020, it was announced that there were talks ongoing with Disney+ to revive the series.

•  In 2017, fans of the Monkey Island series launched an online petition in support of Ron Gilbert, asking Disney to sell the franchise to him; as of May 2020, the petition has gathered about 26,000 signatures.

Developments since episode: The obvious one, Jodie Whittaker took over the role of the Doctor from Peter Capaldi in 2017, becoming the first ever female Doctor.

We both get utterly baffled and fascinated by the cinematic universes of The Scorpion King, The Land Before Time, Anaconda/Lake Placid, God of Gamblers and Zombi. Strap yourselves in, it’s going to get confusing…

Morgan takes us through the history of the Scorpion King franchise, which began in 2002’s The Mummy Returns starring Dwayne Johnson as the titular warrior. Since then, it has spawned three further films with totally different casts each time.

Then there’s the Lake Placid and Anaconda series, which came to a head when they went up against each other, despite the former being a body of water, but there you go.

The Zombi film series is just downright complicated, as it technically involves two completely different series from different filmmakers taking place at the same time.

The Land Before Time series started off a cute animated film, but has since spawned almost countless spinoffs and sequels that are still going strong.

Then there’s the God of Gamblers series, where Tom simply got lost while trying to explain (we’ll blame the beer).

Developments since episode:

– There’s been another Land Before Time film – Journey of the Brave – released in 2016.

• God of Gamblers has seen two further films: From Vegas to Macau II in 2015 and From Vegas to Macau III in 2016.
• In 2020, it was announced that a reboot of the Anaconda film series was in the works.
• In 2018, a new film came out called Lake Placid: Legacy.
• 2018 also saw the release of the film The Scorpion King: Book of Souls, while a further reboot was announced in 2020, with Dwayne Johnson producing.

We discuss everything from Flash Gordon’s dark storylines, failed Billy Zane movies and the potential DOTE cinematic universe.

Known for its downright incredible intro theme tune (with lyrics credited to Stan Lee), Defenders of the Earth ran for just one season from 1986, but one with 65 (!) episodes in total.

Set in the year 2015, it followed an Avengers-style teamup of comic characters Flash Gordon, The Phantom, Mandrake the Magician and Mandrake’s assistant Lothar. Their main enemy was the evil Ming the Merciless. He was merciless, after all.

We ask whether ReBoot could be… rebooted, and discuss Dot Matrixes and comparisons to Sliders and Wreck It Ralph.

ReBoot was a Canadian series that originally ran from 1994 to 2001.

Tom was a massive fan growing up when it reached the UK on CITV in the mid-to-late 1990s, but it was cruelly taken off the air mid-season. He didn’t find out what happened next until about 8 years later when he discovered something called BitTorrent…

The series followed the adventures of a Guardian named Bob and his companions Enzo and Dot Matrix, as they worked to keep the computer system of Mainframe safe from viruses and other threats.

Developments since episode: In 2015, a new animated-live action hybrid show titled ReBoot: The Guardian Code launched on YTV and Netflix. And yeah… it wasnt great.

Based on characters created by Ted ‘Tobin’ Wolf, Thundercats launched in 1985, with animation provided by the Japanese studio Pacific Animation Corporation.

As Morgan explains to a confused Tom (who somehow didn’t watch it as a kid), ThunderCats follows the adventures of a team of heroes, cat-like humanoid aliens from a planet called Third Earth.

The series begins with the dying planet Thundera meeting its end, forcing the ThunderCats to flee their homeworld. The fleet is attacked by their enemies, the Mutants of Plun-Darr, but spare the flagship hoping to capture the legendary mystic Sword of Omens. Oooh…

The flagship contains Lion-O, as well as Cheetara, Panthro, Tygra, WilyKit and WilyKat, and, sigh, Snarf.

Developments since episode: In 2020, a new show launched called Thundercats Roar, on the Cartoon Network. Featuring far more comedic and lighthearted animation and stories, which was met with a backlash from some fans of the original series and the 2011 reboot.

Discussions include Tiger Ninestein being a dick, Captain Scarlet being a rubbish agent, Fireball XL5’s awesome theme tune and other random tangents.

Created by Gerry Anderson and Christopher Burr, Terrahawks was Anderson’s first in over a decade to use puppets , and also his last. His previous puppet TV shows included the iconic Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet.

Set in the year 2020, the series followed the adventures of the Terrahawks. A taskforce responsible for protecting Earth from invasion by a group of androids and aliens led by Zelda. Not that one.

It also had a kickass theme tune, humorous characters such as Stu Dapples and the Zeroids, and was ahead of its time in many ways.

The show ran for three series from 1983, and has since returned in audio form for three more series by Big Finish in 2014.

It even spawned a hit single, where ‘Kate Kestrel’ released her song ‘SOS’ from the show, and it was a bit of a banger:

– In 2019, it was announced that a new series titled Kate Kestrel and the Terrahawks was in development by Anderson Entertainment, produced by Two Geeks friend and Gerry’s son Jamie Anderson and Stu Gamble.
