As Nathan puts it, “There’s no tech bros coming to save Appalachia, so we are the only help we have.” Capitalism has a way of telling us that taking care of others comes at the risk of ending up with nothing ourselves, but that’s a trap we can’t stand for. Nathan also explores separating volunteer work from evangelism, how the church can make people feel more welcome, and the idea of building your own church instead of deconstructing what already exists. No theology, just vibes.

Until We Get Canceled is a Crate Original from Crate Media

https://until-we-get-canceled.captivate.fm

<itunes:image href="https://artwork.captivate.fm/5a252505-023c-4213-bda5-b3c3faa34c35/fn2jx2kqol1cgjkm8soxaphq.jpg"/>
The Magdalene

<itunes:duration>01:05:42</itunes:duration><itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit><itunes:episodeType>full</itunes:episodeType><itunes:episode>36</itunes:episode><itunes:summary>Nathan Thomas joins us to talk about mutual aid organizations, Appalachia, separating volunteer work from evangelism, how the church can make people feel more welcome, and building a church of your own instead of deconstructing what already exists.</itunes:summary><itunes:author>The Magdalene</itunes:author>

35. She recently put out a record “Preacher’s Kid” which hit the #1 spot on Christian iTunes, and she’s taking Contemporary Christian Music to task.
