But Why Not Just Use YouTube? It's Free!

While YouTube can be a powerful platform for marketing videos, it also comes with some disadvantages. Here are some of the drawbacks to consider:

Ad saturation: YouTube is filled with advertisements, and viewers have become accustomed to skipping or ignoring them. Your marketing videos might get lost among numerous ads, making it challenging to stand out and capture the audience's attention.

Affordable Roadmaps with ProductLift

I discovered Product Lift on App Sumo and thought, "Yes, FINALLY an affordable roadmap."

This is a great tool for harvesting feedback. You can get it from customers, teams, stakeholders, or in my case, a podcast audience.

It makes it so easy to get feedback but also build roadmaps, publish changelogs, vote and discuss, and more.

There is a free version on their site, but I recommend (while it is available) purchasing it on App Sumo. Their regular price is $48/month, and you can buy it for $49 FOR LIFE.

Switchy: Quit Guessing and Start KNOWING What is Working

If you're using bit.ly and sharing those publicly, you're not doing your brand any favors. Today I introduce you to Switchy. It makes it super easy to track your links (in and out) as well as makes QR codes, and Smart Pages (think Linktree) while enabling you to place pixels, and more.

The Low Bar of Customer Service

For my first job out of college, I was a copier repairman. And then later, I got into customer service, I would actually go out, set up the copy machine, and teach them how to run it. And I was amazed at how low the bar was for amazing customer service, I would ask somebody, Hey, would you like me to kind of check back with you in six weeks? And they'd be like, "Yeah, that'd be great."

I would ask, "What's a good time?" We would end up agreeing on Wednesday morning at 10 AM on a Wednesday six weeks from now.

When I would call back when I said I would the customer would LOSE THEIR MIND.

Really, that's where the bar is?

I want to talk about a video tool I found. But the first thing I want to talk about is, when you are looking at any tool, sometimes we kind of get a little crazy by looking at all the features, and all the things that can do.

And one example that for me didn't work was vid yard. And it was this kind of YouTube-looking thing. But you could see how far people had watched. And at the end, you could have it redirect to a website where you wanted them to go in to make a long story short, I found their interface beyond confusing, I actually ended up doing the coding. And if you are new to the show, I kind of know-how to code but I try to avoid it at all, like my audience doesn't like to code. So I don't want to to I have to type in a bunch of JavaScript. And it was crazy. It was nuts. But I bought a year's worth of this expensive tool. And for me, it just didn't work. And it dawned on me that all these features that that particular service had, I was never going to use. So I found a really cool tool if you want to stand out with your clients. And I'm here to tell you, you're going to hear people say things like, I can't believe you made me a video. And it's so inexpensive, and it's so easy to use.

LOOM

The tool I want to tell you about to get to the point is loom. It's $8 a month. And I went over and looked at their feature set, the thing I love about it is this, you can do a call to action. So when somebody clicks play, you can have a little button at the top that says Click here for more information, or click here to try it for free or whatever. And if you go to web tools, radio.com. And look at episode six, you will see or you'll see in your show notes, all the link to a video that I made in loom. And it's amazing. And at the end, people can click on that, which of course, you could put in some sort of trackable clicking device, you can actually edit the video a little bit.

I had one where I kind of started off and then botched it and then just restarted without hitting stop. And I was able to go in and trim the video I'm seeing on their website, they say you can actually have filler word removal. I did not know that. And custom branding. And if you're using this with a team, they have a huge amount of tools that you can use with this. And it's absolutely amazing.

HOW I USE IT

So what I love about this is somebody will sign up at the School of podcasting. And I will get the notification that hey, you have a new student, I will go over I will get their name, I will get their email and I will make them a loom. This also works on your phone, by the way. So if you're out and about, like I can't get back to my computer, you can just do it right on your phone. And I'm here to tell you, even if it's just to say, Hey, it's Dave, I see you signed up at the School of podcasting. I just want to say thanks so much for signing up. Please let me know where you are in the podcasting process. Whether you're starting if you have an idea or whatever, blah, blah, blah, thanks so much. So that took what 20 seconds, and you hit it and you hit send. And it's there and you can go in and see how it's not quite as cool as some of the other ones like I can't see how far they watch but I can be notified when they watch my video.

So think about this. I send a video. "Hey, Diane, thanks so much for this and that yeah yada, yada, here's some information. If you need more information, let me know. I know you're close to ordering something."

And then you see that Diane has watched your video, you can actually call Diane on this thing called the phone (remember that?) And say,

"Hey, Diane is just Dave checking in. Just wanted to see if you had any questions or if you got my video yet. And she will say of course Oh, actually, I just watched it and you're like, Oh, cool. Any questions. It's $8.

And so it's the little things that we can do that make people just lose their minds. Because nobody else is doing this yet.

Weekly Web Tools ran from 2007 to 2017, and after letting the show take a nap for three years, I'm itching to occasionally talk about some cool stuff on the internet.

Well after letting the show take a nap for three years, I'm going to being it back on a more regular basis (still won't be weekly).

So if you see the artwork change in your favorite podcasting app, it's not a mistake. We got a new coat of paint, some new music, and after we wrap up some things on the website, we'll be back.

Currently we are using PodcastPage to manage the podcast website.

I've been using App Sumo (https:/supportthisshow.com/sendfox)

This is a new system but is part of App Sumo (not just something they are promoting). The price as I record this is $49 for lifetime access up to 5000 subscribers. You can upgrade for $50 to get another 5000 subscribers. At the $150 you are up to 15,000 subscribers and the branding for send fox is diminished.

So I purchased the package. First Impressions It is super easy to use, and you can make your own great-looking landing pages. You can make some pretty boring looking forms. The automation makes it easy to deliver lead magnets. They do integrate with Zapier, but I found it frustrating that as of now (10/2019) when using Zapier I can specify which email list to add the person to in Send Fox. Going In You Know...

I knew this was a newish company. I knew they didn't integrate with any plugins, etc at this point (they are working on that). They do (naturally) integrate with Sumo king (the pop-up tool, etc). Going Forward

Because I have had some nice forms on my website I'm not canceling my Convertkit (https://podclick.me/convertkit) yet. The minute they integrate with my tools I will ditch convertkit. Until then I just manually export and import into Send Fox and send all my emails from there. If you are brand new to email lists, this might be a perfect fit that will have you set for a very long time.

I was my target audience. Fast forward 10 years later and instead of companies, tools are being launched by marketers who often would release a tool for a small period of time, and either pull the tool, go out of business, offer no support, raise their price, and in the end it was hard to find solid tools that I could recommend to you and be able to sleep at night. My last episode was the straw that broke the camel's back. I found what appeared to be a cool tool, only to find to "Companies" who appeared to have stolen the code from each other, and one didn't work (its has since been fixed). So I spent the better part of two hours trying to figure out if I liked the tool. To put it into a single question, after 10 years, I think I've found all the tools that I like, and I don't see a lot of creativity to make new tools that grab my attention. I always thought I would get more input from the audience on what tools they used, and I did from certain people, but all in all, it was a very, very low percentage. Plans For The Future I don't plan on releasing any new episodes for the rest of 2017 unless something crosses my path. I plan on rebranding the podcast to be called "Small Business Tools" and it will be moved to a "when I have something to say" schedule. I'm also shutting down the Patreon account. I was looking for a tool to make a directory of websites. To make a long story short, they are very hard to find. Almost all directories are created to help you find some address so it can be a local business directory or real estate, etc. I wanted something to list websites at Podcasting Resources.com (http://www.podcastingresource.scom/) Then I remembered I had purchased a theme a while ago from PremumPress called "Responsive Directory Theme" which I don't feel is available anymore. They too have niched their directories into coupons, dating sites, instead of a once size fits all. I will say the tutorials to get up to speed, and the ability to somewhat customize the look is good. If you're looking to make a directory listing that is not zip code related, good luck. The PremiumPress Themes are $80. Web Directory 2.0 For Wordpress There is one thing that makes it easy to find something you're looking for and that is to buy a product, and whatever you are looking for will jump out of the woodwork. This was the case with Web Directory 2.0. It is an all in one directory script, and for me, I like the looks of it as you can turn off the ability to submit a listing (as I just want my listings) you can charge (but I'm not ) for listing. The only thing that would be nice is a place to have advertisements, but I can always add an advertisement rotation plugin for that. The plugin is $34. Aparg SmartAd - WordPress Ad Management Plugin This Aparg Smart Add is sweet, you can create video ads, pop-up ads, adds that you can put in sidebars, you can have images, code, etc. The plugin is only $30, and if you are a person that is selling ads, you can limit their view and have them expire. It looks super flexible. It doesn't facilitate the sale of ads, but controls the view of the ads. For me, I'm not selling ads on my site, I would more than likely put affiliate products.

Bomb Bomb Video Email Will Blow You Away

I've used Covideo in the past, but I had to go into my Gmail when I used it and change some settings that set off all sorts of security warnings. Their answer was to send it through their website. In the end, I ended up not using it and eventually unsubscribed. I tried creating videos in Camtasia and uploading them and sharing them on a Google Drive. That strategy was free, but it took forever. So the BIG thing that bomb bomb delivers on is speed. Their smallest package allows you to send video emails to 2500 people (unlimited emails and videos). It does not give you the ability to auto responders (drip), or create landing pages. The individual plus plan $69 a month ($49 if you purchase a year) allows you to create landing pages, and send auto responders. It also gives you email and phone support. The smaller package you just have access to their tutorials (which are very good). It works on any HTML player (including Netflix). Clean up the Typos In the past, I've told you about Grammarly, but somehow I was not using it to its full potential. Now when I start an email message, a Facebook post, a forum post, etc. Grammarly is there to make sure I don't look like an idiot. As I type this now, i see that I have six issues in the above paragraphs that I will troubleshoot before publishing this. It's a great tool to stop those of us who are spelling challenged. Freshsales.io is a free CRM tool. For me I wanted a tool that was a simple place to store my contact, and track tasks and this will do it and send me email reminders when a task is due. It also has a mobile app. They have an extensive knowledgebase, but for me, I want a video tutorial that I can play on 2X to blow through the video manual and get to work. I know why companies don't do this. 1. English may be language number two for them. 2. They have to update the videos when they update the software. For me, I found it frustrating. In all not a bad tool. I wil lstay with Nimble as it checks my social sites as well and does everything (maybe not territories) that freshsales.io does. Thinkific Membership Site and Teaching Platform

Today I'm talking about a membership platform called Thinkific. I heard about it via the Membership Guys who run the Membership academy (not to be confused by Marcus Couch Membership Coach ) . Here is my problem. I'm using Value Add On. I really like it. One of the reasons I purchased is was the price $37 a month. Their support is good. The bad news is you have to use JVZoo to accept paypal through them. JVZoo takes 5% in addition to the paypal fees. This is not surprising as Thinkific does the same thing and they cost $49 If you want no transaction fees you have to upgrade to the $99 a month, which means you would have to sell over $1980 for that to make sense. So I plan on doing the $49 a month. So it sounds like a dead heat, but its no JVZoo does something I don't see anyone else doing and that is when you setup a product that is recurring, you have to put in the total number of payments. For example if you purchase a three month subscription to the school of podcasting it says on the checkout page "Includes 3 months of service. Future Payments: $483.00 will be billed every 3 months for 18 payments or until cancelled." But when someone sees they might make 18 payments of $483 they cold feet. This is a deal breaker. So I've been trying out Thinkific for a few days, and here is what I like so far. I'm using their free service. It is super easy to make a course. I mean watch 20 minutes of videos and you are off to the races. I like that they have a built in affiliate program. They also have built in reminder emails for members. It integrates with all sorts of email, zappier, google analytics, etc. You can sell individual courses or bundle them together. You can have one set fee, or a subscription. The dripping feature is super easy, and choose what is protected and what is not is super easy. It works with Paypal, and Stripe which is awesome. I love the student experience as when you get done with modules it takes you to the next, and always shows you where you are in the course. You can even put in quizzed and certificates if you want. Here is what I don't like. When you upload a video, there is no text on the page. Just the video. There is no player speed, and I want to put links to the things I mentioned in the video. I'm also a little worried about how much you can customize the look of things, but I'm in the free version so when you upgrade you get more tools. Their discussion board for each course is pretty ugly. No other way to put it. Functional yes. Pretty? No. The key when dealing with a membership site or plugin is knowing the features to want for me it was. Work with paypal and stripe Make it easy to sign up and cancel (no need to email me) I want to be able to sell courses one by one, or bundled. I wanted an easy to use affiliate program. (JVZoo makes people send messages to their phone to confirm them. I like the security, but giving a phone number to be an affiliate seems a bit over the top). So for now I'm moving ahead with Thinkific. If it turns out that the JVZoo affiliate will still get credit if I use Stripe, then I may stay there. Like I said the problem with Value Add On has nothing to do with the platform (I actually like it alot) but it has to do with having to use JVZoo. Build an Annoying Site like Yahoo There is a plulgin call Snax that you can combine with a theme called Bimber (get them both for $49) and Snax allows you to have open lists that your audience can create (so you get free content) and then they can rate each other lists (or images, videos, galleries) while the Bimber theme is setup to splash them in the face with Advertising. You can setup so that they have to go to another page, and another page to see the whole list (each time getting hit with more ads). For $50, it would be interesting to see what kind of content would show up, and how insane people would get voting for content.

Canva For Business This is a great tool, it allows you to add folders, add some branding to canva, set your default fonts and colors. My favorite is the abracadabra feature where you design one graphic and then order a twitter, facebook, tumblr, etc version and it just spits them out. All you have to do is drag and drop the elements into place and you're done. There is a video on this for patrons. In the top right, select your account > Creator Studio. On the left, select Analytics > Audience retention. To see audience retention data for a specific video, click the name of the video. Alternativeto.net (http://Alternativeto.net) This is a cool site. If you find a tool you like, but maybe you don't like the price. You type in the name of the website or app, and it spits out an alternative to. For example, I just cancelled my lead pages account. I just wasn't using it enough to warrant the $40 a month . It brought up a bunch of landing page alternatives such as Landini, Front Meter (which looks really cool), http://unbounce.com/ Unroll.me Not sure where I found this, but I’ve been using it for my gmail based accounts for a few months. it’s called unroll.me (http://unroll.me/) . If you’ve heard of this or already featured it, then disregard. But I’ve been using my email address since 2005. It’s been the ONE constant email address through domain changes, job changes and everything else. Rather than try to keep up with dummy accounts for subscriptions, I just had everything into that account. I would get hundreds of e-mails a day. I love “inbox zero” and my OCD about it can be a bit unnerving. What it does is you can sync your account from a desktop or iPhone (not sure about Android) app and it finds e-mails in your inbox that you might want to “roll up” Do you need that mailing list thing delivered immediately or can you wait a few hours? It gives you a daily “roll up” of all those subscriber lists, etc. You can of course opt to keep some in normal delivery. I have 75 “subscriptions” (sometimes just people who email me a lot) untouched, so they get delivered as normal. I have 183 e-mail lists i’ve UNSUBSCRIBED to using this tool and another 151 subscriptions that get rolled up into one e-mail a day. Sometimes you get 10, sometimes 12, sometimes just 1 or 2. From a productivity standpoint, it is awesome to know that only the e-mails I want to come into my inbox are filling it and I get ONE email a day (usually in the morning) with the rolled-up e-mails. It’s free and i’ve loved using it for the past few months. Inbox is CLEAN!

Email Spike This too allows you to put a video into your email that can play (this would be an mp4, and have a backup animated gif so if the browser doesn't display in the browser). You can also create a slideshow that you create write there in the software. You can also make a YouTube gif. This is a 10 second gif inside the email. You can also create a countdown timer that shows in your email. You pick the style of the timer, the end date, the font size, font style, and copy and paste some code into your email. You still need to create great content to get people to open the email, but this looks pretty cool. As I write this it is $47 and the creators say this price could go up to $200 at any time. So here again, a company that has a scarcity tool is using scarcity. Shocking. Easy WP Local Host (http://jvz3.com/c/59893/202416) AD respark Ad Respark (http://www.weeklywebtools.com/adrespark) is a Flexible tool for making Facebook Ads. Their video shows you just click a few buttons and it switches it to a banner, or pinterest, etc. I did not have the same experience. I had to do some tweaking as an image for Facebook won't fit on a pinterest icon (in some cases). I don't beleive they purposely mislead you, but it's not quite as simple as their videos show. It is a nice program with the ability to pull in pictures, and use their tool to check to see if your add should pass the Facebook 80/20 rule. I did sign up for one of the webinars and their webinars were some pretty heavy duty selling from their partners. For me, when you have to keep asking, "Are you ready? I want to make sure you're engaged!" How about show me what I signed up to see and I'll be engaged instead of 37,000 screen shots of how much money people are making on JVzoo. We all know you can click on the fears in the bottom right hand corner of a youtube video and choose to play it faster. This is not an option with videos served on the Wisita platform. So here is the hack around it Use Chrome and go to the page that has the video Right click on the video and choose HD only. Use the keystroke CTRL+SHIFT+J to bring up chrome's java tools Go CTRL+F to bring up the find tool and type "embed" there will be quite a few you typically want the one in the iframe. Click on the code for the video and then right click and choose copy link location Navigate to clipconverter.cc and paste the link into the box and click on Continue. If a bunch of mp4's show up, that was the right link. If not go back and try again When you see the mp4's pick the one you want and choose download. When I was using Audiometric.io I was told that the system would be down by maintenance. For $5 a month you get unlimited transactions and you can store up to 200 MB. As the typical Paypal fees are 2.9% +.30 cents per transaction. If we through out the 30 cents, it would be 1$172 to pay $5 to paypal (depending on how many transactions that would be lower cause 30 cents a pop will eventuality add up). You can have up to 10 products. The 200 mb is what causes me concern. If you're selling videos that could chew up space (even zipped up). Selz.com Slick Flexible Shopping (http://www.selz.com) is a slick format that charges. They have cool tools that will stamp a pdf for those selling ebooks. They have tools to put your store on Facebook and other social media. For free you pay 4.9% + 30 cents for 5 products. If you go up to $12.99 you get unlimited products and you can customize your design. If you want a shopping cart it's $4.99 a month. If you want to accept Paypal it's $4.99. Slick yes. It just seems like they charge for thing that others things are not. For $20 a month I get paypal, a cart, unlimited products, and a combined 3.9%. I find their system confusing. If I pay them their combined 3.9% do I still pay paypal their 2.9% With Selz you get paid via stripe which ends up going into your bank account. Gumroad: Great For Software (http://www.gumroad.com) allows you to accept anything for 5% + 25 cents per transaction. This is for unlimited products, and unlimited products. The one thing that is seriously missing is a shopping cart. They do have an affiliate program. That is a little clunky as you have to invite people to be an affiliate (so it's not easy). They do offer a pre-orders function and if you're selling software with an activation code this is the place where gumroad excels. I do like that they automatically deposit into my checking account via ACH (or paypal). This is a super flexible cart plugin. If you want additional payment options that is a one time fee of $40. I like the look of their site, and they seem very flexible. If I want to sell via paypal business that add on is $49 for a single site. Which Way I'm Leaning? After watching some videos on (http://www.e-junkie.com/?r=40178) may be the way I end up going. It's simple, and if you don't have a ton of products, it shouldn't be that expensive. There is next to no fees to get going, and at $5 a month, it would take years to match the fees associated with some of these FIY plugins. I want a cart, and easy downloads.

I stumbled across two tool that you can use to create screencasts. The first one is called Screencast-o-matic and the other is Jing. Screencast-o-matic allows you to record 15 minutes of video. You can record your screen and webcam, save the file and publish to YouTube. The free version will put a watermark on your video. I also found Jing which is from the same people who make Camtasia. This software allows you to create 5 minute videos. The files is a swf file. They used to have a pro version which allowed files of mp4, but that has been discontinued. So if you are looking for a free solution screencast-o-matic might be something to look at. If you want to go pro to allowed you to make longer recordings, perform edits, and remove the watermark, the price is $15/yr Scarcity Product Provides Live Stats to Customers Social Pop is a great idea. It works with sites like JVZoo, Click bank, Deal Guardian and others to give you real time statistics on sales. For example if you have a deal for the first 100 sales at a certain price, Social Pop let's people know exactly how many are left. If can let people know if someone else just purchased the program as well. It integrates with the different websites I mentioned and you can customize the way the pop appears, looks, and where it is positioned on the page. My biggest complaint was I set up a black Friday deal from Friday to Monday and the counter showed 24 hours. Their support was quick and really wanted to help .You need to be able to copy code into the heading area and the body. I had one out of two and it caused a conflict with Value Add on (which I use) so I requested a refund, and the gave me one almost immediately. I liked the product, and their support was quick (but I had a very limited window) so I didn't have time to help me troubleshoot.

Yes I used this tool to make today’s post title. Previously I was playing with Headlinr as a tool for creating headlines. I like it. It’s a browser extension. This is an actual piece of software and it seems to have a bit more teeth. You can add words and additional functionality. It also has features to let you import and export Headlines. Builder The builder is where you type in a subject and it comes up with an insane number of headlines. If you like it you can copy it and paste it and use it in your blog post, video post, YouTube Video, etc. If you want to, you can add it to the “My Titles” tab and later come back and enter notes about how it worked. SwipeFile There is a swipefile tab which has over 3,000 headlines that are used to create a customized headline based on your subject. News Headlines I liked this tool to see what is happening in the news. You type in a subject and it searches Google and Bing for that subject. You can select what countries to use. Again, you can copy/add the title and begin customizing the headline to be your own. Quick/More The More feature allows you to add in benefits of your headlines, a time frame and more and it comes up with more detailed headlines. When I use this feature it needed a bit of tweaking. I then used the help buttons and I learned I needed to change the format of my topics and it worked fine. How Do You Know If Your Headlines Are Any Good? Enter the Title Analyser to analyze your Headlines. These two tools work great together. You can created a giant list in Fresh Title and copy the entire list and paste them into the Analyzer to rate your headline based on research for what works.

I've used Aweber (http://podcastcoach.aweber.com/) makes you pay for people who have unsubscribed (but you've never removed - according toe convertkit.com's site). Until recently, you could not add a list to aweber without doing a double opt-in. In some cases (without using the list automation) you could easily have the same person on multiple lists and be paying for them. For me, I've been paing $15 a month ($180/yr) so it did what I wanted it to do - send email, and convert an RSS feed to an email. I've wanted to start doing more strategies to build my list. I purchased Lead Pages, and purchased Optin Monster, and when I saw videos on Aweber (http://podcastcoach.aweber.com/) , part lead pages, part optin monster. The price seems a bit hit at $29 a month for 1000 subscribers (you can send 10X the number of subscribers). But then, if you're paying for unsubscribers it may be cheaper. The cool thing is you can EASILY create segments of your list and just send (or exclude) them. I like this idea, especially for those list that I want to do more than send out a follow up email. FSQM Pro A Bit of a Disapointment

I was using Polldaddy to do polls. Its very robust, but if you use the free version you can't export the results. When I found FSQM Pro, it seemed to do everything that poll daddy did, AND it let your export your results. The plugin is pretty easy to use, I made a form, it looks great, and it has tons of options. When I went to export, I could export the questions - not the results. This is handy in the event you made a survey on one website and you wanted to duplicate it on another, but not what I was looking for. For $29 I expected more. Here is a video. It's a great plugin, but for me I think an additional $10 for the exporting option is too much. Their support has me jumping through hoops to get their attention. You can add effects like those in instagram, add text, brighten, sharpen, etc. There are even layers like in Photoshop. I have been using (http://try.hrv.st/3-60715) for tracking my time. Then in another Excel spreadsheet I track things like affiliate sales, books sales and other ventures that I have going on. I thought storing the Excel Spreadsheet on Microsoft One Drive would make it easier, and it did. But report meant pivot tables, and all sort of stuff. This is more than Harvest, but then again it does more than Harvest. I can track time with Freshbooks just like I did with Harvest. First Impressions It took next to no time to setup my company, my preferences, etc. It integrates with Paypal and Stripe (you can use them as a processor if you'd like 2.9% + .30). You can customize the colors, emails that are sent, set up taxes, and track all your expenses. There is also an app which makes it super cool. Harvest has an app, but for me I would get notified that an old domain renewed and I would have to login to onedrive, find my file, now I just open the app and add it. You can track pricing by the employee, by the job, by the skill. I emailed her two days later and I thought it was cool that she was out of the office for a few days, and another employee jumped into make sure I got a speedy answer. My question was what about digital sales (I sell a spreadsheet for Companies looking to hold their own Biggest Loser contest (https://gumroad.com/l/blxls) ). I have affiliate sales. These are already invoiced or don't need an invoice. Their support explained how I can set up a dummy customer for "Affiliate Sales" create an invoice, and save it as a draft and then mark it paid. This way I can track my income. Expenses Made Easy When I looked at their free app, I was super pleased by its simple design that's going to make tracking expenses a snap. I can also track time if I'm doing consulting on the road. Everything feeds back to the cloud so it stays accurate. Features I Won't Use But are Cool There is a ticket support system so if someone has a problem with their bill, they can open a ticket. I use Rhino Support for my ticketing system. You can use a document system, this would be like your own private Google Docs or OneDrive. You can have administrators and staff each with different rights to different areas. What's Missing? I think the software will work for me. They have videos to show you how to track time, and create invoices, but that's about it. We hear it over and over and Blog Post Titles, Podcast Titles are the headlines to your story. It's what gets your audience's attention. The problem is most of the time, its the thing we do last. I've spoken about Wistia in the past, and I love it. I use Lead Player on this page, but what if you want an alternative? (Lead Player is not available any more). There are a ton of Video creation tools that have come out over the last few months. If you can't afford Camtasia ($300) wait till you hear about Video Motion ($67). This software has the following tools This software makes it super easy to: Record your camera and/or screen Do green screen effects. You can edit on a time line You can upload directly to YouTube Includes 20 audio tracks for videos Includes auto updates. 30 logo animations (to make your own intro) I really liked the Video Outro creator. This is that shot at the end of the video where you see multiple videos at the same time with a subscribe button. It really makes it easy and the best part is it's only $67. Slack is an interesting tool for those people who work on teams. It enables you to have all of your communication in one place. All of your items in Google Docs, Dropbox, and many other tools can be organized and made searchable with Slack. You can make a team, and then have categories (public or private so if you have different levels for team members you can have a category just for management). It's easy to sign up. For me, its kind of hard to bring team members into the fold (I can make it recognize an domain, so here again it is made for businesses - not podcasters). I was bmmered there is no way (that I could see after using it for 10 minutes) to make a page where people could go in an request to join my team (there is a tool for that it's call facebook). It turns out that Slack is from one of the co-founders of Flickr. It has been growing quickly for just being around a little over a year. The more I play with it, the more I see its potential. Canva is a great tool for creating graphics online. They have an ipad app, and some great graphics. If you use one of the stock photos, the charge is $1. I recently made some artwork for a podcast that cost me $1. Now if I was a person that blogged frequently, tweeted frequently, and created youtube videos frequently, this could add up. YouZign is also an online tool for creating graphics. It is (currently) $47. It is a one time fee. When I tried it out, it is very flexible, and easy to use, but the graphics that they include are more clip are than photographs. If you're making flyers, and such for the Church cookie sale this might work, but not so much in online business. The cute little cartoons might work in video, but my jury is still out for using them in marketing materials. The way they keep the price low is they are building more templates and you can get $100 more for around $65. They do have a nice preview so you can see how the graphic would work (for example) on an actual Facebook page. Conclusion: If you make LOTS of graphics, the price savings would make it a wise choice. In the video below I used it for about 5 minutes (so you may be seeing operator error). Today we have a tool to help create copy for your website. It's Call Script Doll, and it's pretty cool. You put in the demographics of your audience, you put in your product, and from there you can have it spit out sales letters, email blasts, video sales letters and more. It's impressive. It's not perfect, and like everything I had to go back and tweak some stuff as it is taking your input and putting it into what amounts to be a template. The templates are created by copywriting gurus, and I must say that after ready the first thing it spits out at me, I was thinking, "Man when I write copy it just sucks". I was getting sucked into my own product. As there is no "one size fits all" there will be some tweaking. Script doll gets you most of the way and you tweak the rest. The price is $61 a month. I can see some folks purchasing this for one month, getting all the copy they need, and canceling their subscription (which is why it's probably $61 a month). Now let's think about this. One of my favorite books on copywriting is by Ray Edwards. You can learn alot about copywriting from this book It will alos take you more than 20 minutes to read it. So if you want good copy, that you can edit (the program gives you your copy in a word document or pdf), and use on your site in a matter of minutes (not days) this is an impressive tool. Pingdom Speed Test with Website Grader I found tools.pingdom.com to be very cool as it shows you how long it took your site to load, what slowed things down, and gives you a grade. The best part is its free. Vallue Add On Membership Site Tool I was using Digital Access Pass (protection and processing), Wistia (videos), and Optimizepress (theme) to create a membership site. Using those three tools I put out $624 a year or $52 a month. The tool I found is $197 for the first year and $37 a month after your first year. There are no bandwidth limits (like Wistia), and I can create a website in minutes. Who Needs That Many Details Using Optimizepress the good news is you can control everything. The bad news is you can control everything. In many cases there are features that I'm just not using. When I watched the video for this tool I was amazed and they have great features I will be using such as: Progress bars as people go through your content (looks alot like Udemy) Integrates with Facebook groups Super easy merchant account through Stripe and JVZoo No limits on videos and bandwidth. The videos are converted for multiple formats and html5 complaint so people can consume content on their iPads/iPhones, etc. Great looking user interface with the ability for students to take notes in each lesson that are saved on the site. I love that I don't have to worry about plugins, and my site's speed. It's all handled by ValueAddon Valueaddon is co-owned by JVZoo which is a HUGE Affiliate network (so I know its not going anywhere) So far the support has been quick and helpful. Today I started playing with Wista Video Hosting. This company understands their audience, what they need, and they make it easy to use and the have a GREAT job of holing your hand virtually the process. Here is a video I made showing the back end of wista. Their support seems to read your mind and answer your question before you ask it. They aren't trying to help you make better videos (that's your job). They are helping you make your videos be shared (or lock them down tight) with a simple point and click interface. The one thing I really like is you can see not only how many times the video was played, but how far people watched. That is crucial. You can see if it was replayed. This can point out two things. 1. The video is great - and people watch again and again 2. The video is missing the point, and people need to watch it again because they are confused. I am really impressed. Wisita Vs Vimeo Let me say I am a happy Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com) user. Comparing the two, it seems like Vimeo is has a split personality. One one hand they want you to watch videos on Vimeo, and on the other hand they are a Video hosting company (with tools to help you share, brand, and protect). Their interface is just not as good. Yes, the have help. It's not as intuitive. One scenario that might be happening here is I've been a Vimeo user for about a year (so I forget their first impression). It just seems like there are features I'm not using (royalty free music for my video) that kind of clutter up the place. Where is my call to action? Where is my email integration? These are features I will use (and may exist, but I'm unaware - but I don't think so). Wistia has a great tool, and as a trainer, are doing a great job of making me understand how to get the most out of their product. After playing with Wistai for 10 minutes this morning, I'm going to be checking to see when my Vimeo account renews. That is another issue, Vimeo only allows you to order their Pro service in yearly intervals ($200). Wisita is $25 a month for the features I need (Small Business Account). This means that Wisita is $8 more a month (but I pay in smaller amounts over time), but if I'm getting more subscribers, I'm getting more sales, then Wisita could easily pay for itself.

Today I take a quick peak at optinmonster. This is a very versatile tool to help you grow your email liste. See the video at www.weeklywebtools.com/260 It seems everywhere I go see an optin monster box popping up at me. I wanted to get a good look. I was amazed at all the options that are available. you have an INSANE amount of control on how your optin forms appear. You can customize it down to the category, post, category and more. You can even set it to only show up on the SECOND time a person visits your site (As well as the expected configuration options as to how many times it shows up and how frequnetly it shows up). The feature that everyone seems to be raving about is the Exit Intent feature. This means that when you go to click on the X to close a tab, the option box appears. This is really cool. There are even cool effects you can use to have the optin come flying in with all sorts of eye catching flare. The one thing I liked about this plugin is there is a large amount of customization that you can put together, but I never had to reach for documentation (not for the record I'm familiar with wordpress plugin installations). The only thing that threw me for a loop was I had to allow aweber and optin monster talk to each other. So when I was told that (it mentions it in the configuration area) they had a direct link to explain how. This was an aweber thing, and not an optin monster thing. The cool thing was it took me next to know time to install, and create my first optin. You then get stats on how many times it was viewed, and how many signs up you get. You can have an unlimited number of forms, and the with canvas option, you have some very powerful tools to create some stunning looking optin forms. I went to a conference and saw a presentation from someone at LeadPages. It was really good without being a giant commercial for LeadPages. At the end of the presentation, I asked the rep if he had 4,000 email lists if you are giving away all these ebooks and other incentives for people's email address. Then the lights came on. This way you can have a ton of pages with different incentives, and still noly have one central list (or as many lists as you want). We have talked about Contest blitz in the past which is a great tool for growing your email list, today we look at Raffle Plus which is a $19 plugin that allows you to create a prize and allow people to enter via facebook like, G+, twitter, blog comment, or email subscription. You can assign points to each action. When a contestant goes to the contest page they will see their totals. It's an interesting tool, but its hard to get a grasp on as the developer doesn't even have a description tat properly explains what it does (I learned by looking at the screen shots). There is no video explanation, etc. So for developers, there is a lesson to be learned here. I don't think I would buy this just because it looks like ti was designed by some guy in his basement - because it probably is. Where a system like Contest Blitz has a bit more pizzazz, and professionalism. I know Raffle Plus has more features (it will randomly pick or winner oyou can manually do it) but I would be more inclined to go with Contest Blitz. Check out If you are using chrome check it out. Today we talk about consuming the show and another time scheduling tool. Then we get into the instasuite of products that I discovered after purchasing instatheme. Betty Scheduling Tool trybetty.com is a free scheduling tool that works inside your email. I looked at it, but for me personally the biggest hurdle of scheduling on a global scale can be a nightmare when it comes to time zones. I was using calend.ly and it messed them up. I tried timetrade.com and others. Betty makes me manually choose what time zone my guest is in. In some cases I have no idea, and that won't work for me. The other alternative is to let your guest figure it out. No thanks Schedule Once is My New Solution Currently I've settled on scheduleonce.com (http://www.scheduleonce.com) which smacks people in the head when they schedule appointments with me and asks for the time zone. It then emails then 24 hours, and hour and if I want 10 minutes before the meeting and it follows up with them after the meeting. Instatheme I purchased instatheme as it looks very flexible and it has a drag and drop feature that makes building pages a snap. It appears to have just the right amount of flexibility, without going too far to where you are overwhelmed by all of the options. I will be talking more about this as I get some hands on time with it. InstaMember When I bought instamember (tp://weeklywebtools.com/instamember) site, they list all these great features like Built-in affiliate program integrates with goto webinar.com multiple products, subscriptions, etc. Works with multiple payment types, and autoresponders Works with affiliate networks like clickbank It didn't appear to have a drip feature. I emailed their support (once I found it), and got a quick answer. They do have a drip function. When I asked if you get a "10,000 foot overview" of your content and when it would be released, they sent a screenshot showing you did indeed. Cool. If you're new to dripping, this is where you create a bunch of content and then let it release over time. This helps your membership site retention levels stay high. Very cool. Today I point out a very cool task management system that not only makes handling all of your project a breeze, but it integrates with sites like Evernote, Dropbox, and Google Calendar. Here is where things get cool. You can have multiple tasks added by sending ONE email to a special email address assigned to your account. All you do is separate the tasks with a period. You can get paid on a monthly basis, or you can get paid when you release content. There are people making some pretty decent cash. You can specify different rewards for different donation amounts. These can be serious or comical. I was amazed at some of the amounts that people are pulling in. They take 8% of the donation and you get paid via paypal (I'm not sure if you have to pay paypal fees). I just discovered Freshdesk. This is a SUPER EASY support system. It offers SO MUCH. I was looking for a basic FAQ program found this system that not only does FAQ, but it provides live chat, forums, satisfaction surveys and much much more. I looked into it. I saw they had a free version and I had it setup in less than 10 minutes. I love that they have mobile apps to help you stay in touch. Right now they have an android app, and a soon to be iOs app (they do have an html5 version). Prices are not based on the amount of users, but on what services you need. If you are a solopreneur you could get by with the free version. I love that if someone mentions you or direct messages you, you can pull that into a system and determine if you'd like it to be a ticket or not. - very cool. Likewise you can set up an app so your private support is on your facebook page. It integrates with EVERYTHING so now you can not only track tickets but tie it in with your billing system (I LOVE THIS FEATURE). The beauty of the system is it is hyper rich in features but they have a tone of documentation and videos to make sure you don't get stuck. Countdown Monkey & Dime Sales

Monkey is a standalone web based app where you can simply login to your account and create countdown(s) inside your account without downloading or installing anything. Once your countdown is saved you are given a code to copy and paste into your pages. Your subscription includes all future updates/upgrades and because this is a hosted service you'll never have to do any kind of updates or re-installs yourself (our goal is to ensure you never even notice them) They do have some very cool features. Such as: Just choose how many days / hours / minutes and your countdown will start counting down for each new visitor that arrives on your page. Smart cookie code means the correct time left will be shown to returning visitors. They call this evergreen so you don't have to worry about the calendar. You can make date and time countdown timers. Set your expiration to an exact date/hour/minute. What happens when time runs out? You have three options: #1 Do nothing (the timer simply stops) #2 Hide (the timer is hidden from the page) and #3 Instant redirect (send visitors to any URL on autopilot) - You can also edit/change a live countdown in your dashboard and the changes will be instantly reflected on your page (no need to edit the page) This is not a wordpress plugin, although it will work on any website. You can login to your account, configure the look of your timer, configure when and how it will countdown and copy and paste some code. I had never used it, but I noticed they have a Dime Sale feature. This means you set a starting and ending price and then the price will go up based on a number of sales, the length of time, etc. It's pretty cool. I set up my Logical Losers Accountability Club to be $1.00 and the price goes up 25 cents every time someone buys a membership. I did the math and if my top price is $20, by the time I get enough members to make it to $20 I will be making over $800 a month. With this in mind, you may like Dime Sales. I did find a cool tool if you're interested in having a dime sale, but you're not needing a membership site (by the way you can now pay for Digital Access Pass on a monthly subscription).
