What happens when you seek Financial Gain instead of God?

In this episode, I discuss the consequences of selling pieces of oneself for money. This is my testimony about the time I accepted a job and traded my health and mental wellbeing for a six-figure salary. 

Have you ever accepted a job, opportunity or relationship that was more than what you expected? I have. I ignored all of the red flags and the need to assimilate because of the salary. My new salary made it easier for me to ignore the pieces that didn’t align with your expectations. But, I soon realized that I was trading more than what was required in the job description.

If you had asked me that question two years ago, my reply would have been a hard pass. I was so comfortable making money and ignoring the inner work. In fact, I was convinced that I was a good person who was going to heaven because I tithed, gave to the poor and hadn’t killed anyone (though I’d been tried).

Fast forward to 2022 and God began to transform my answer to that question before my very eyes. 

You see, prior to me rededicating my life to God, I was a rule-following, people-pleasing, worrying, realist who was afraid to hope, and addicted to busyness and ever chasing the elusive perfectionism. And the sad thing is I didn’t know anything was wrong. 

And if those things weren’t bad enough, under the surface, I was a suicidal, angry, control freak with a victim complex.

This was before Jesus set me free.

Now, I’m a joyful, free, far from perfect, but a work in progress who can proudly proclaim my deepest darkest secrets on this podcast because my redeemer lives and He came to set the captives free.
